Jean could no longer hold back. She suddenly stood up and said to Marcus, "Cousin, I just remembered—I have some family business to discuss with you in private."
With that, she walked over to Marcus, pulled him to his feet, and tossed a line to the others. "You all go ahead and eat. We'll be right back."
Once she had pulled Marcus to a quiet corner, Jean let go of his arm. Her eyes shifted nervously as she looked at him and whispered, "Cousin…"
"Jean," Marcus finally said after a moment's silence, "As I recall, Theodore Quinn only fell in the water that one time. I've never heard about it happening again. So, when exactly did Cedric Grant save his life?"
As if afraid of being overheard, Jean glanced back toward the dining table and said anxiously, "Cou-cousin, keep your voice down! Don't let anyone hear you."
