After Old Mr. Shaw left, Aunt Ford remarked, "Cecilia, that old gentleman is far too kind to you. He even wanted to give you money. Is he your maternal grandmother's brother?" Beyond that, she couldn't imagine any other connection.
Cecilia Adler stared at Aunt Ford. "Auntie, when you first came to work for us, you never pried into our family's business."
