At 6:30 PM, Cecilia Adler was about to make dinner.
A knock came from outside.
"Cecilia, Ian, are you home?"
Cecilia opened the door. "Dad, Mom, what brings you here today? Ian just stepped out."
Mrs. Quincy asked, "What's he doing out so late?"
Cecilia's eyes flickered. "He didn't say." She didn't dare tell her mother-in-law that they were engaging in risky business dealings.
Jim Quincy said, "Did Ian say when he'd be back?"
"He left an hour ago, so he should be back soon," Cecilia estimated. 'How long could selling something take?'
