Jessie Sterling was smug on the inside, but she played coy, putting on an "oh, don't go to so much trouble" act.
"Oh? You're going to come over? Will it be inconvenient? If it's too much trouble, then let's just forget it..."
Quincy Sterling: "Alright then. It is a bit inconvenient."
"Quincy Sterling!"
When Quincy immediately took her at her word after her feigned refusal, Jessie's voice shot up an octave.
"Quincy Sterling, you're not sincere at all! You said you were coming to see me, how could you back out after just one sentence!" Jessie said, exasperated.
If she could, she would have balled up her fist and given Quincy's shoulder a good THUMP THUMP.
'What the heck! That's just too mean.'
On the other end of the line, Quincy couldn't help but smile. Even though she wasn't with Jessie, she could picture her little expression of helpless fury just from the sound of her voice.
"Just teasing you," Quincy said.
