Ancient Chinese medicine has many prescriptions related to teeth, but most of them focus on "tooth firming."

The most famous is without a doubt the "Tooth Firming Secret Recipe" recorded in the *Selected Medical Prescriptions of Empress Dowager Cixi and Emperor Guangxu*.

It consists of eleven medicinal ingredients: raw Da Huang, prepared Da Huang, raw gypsum, calcined gypsum, Gusuibu, Du Zhong, blue-green salt, table salt, alum, burnt alum, and Danggui root.

This formula is quite ingenious, based on the Zang-xiang theory of traditional Chinese medicine, which states: "Teeth are the surplus of the kidneys, while the gums are a network of the stomach."

Gusuibu and Du Zhong nourish the kidneys and replenish essence, reinforcing the teeth's foundation.
