Jeanette Kensington screamed with all her might.
Normally, Lorraine Warren would have immediately noticed something was wrong with Jeanette's mood. But right now, her entire being was focused on Lee Warren, and she had no energy to deal with anything else.
Lorraine Warren's voice was pleading. "Jeanette, I'm begging you. Lee Warren has turned over a new leaf. It's the people from the gambling den who won't let him go. They keep coming back to cause trouble. They said if we give them another five hundred thousand, they'll leave him alone for good. Otherwise, they're going to cut off one of his arms!"
"Why not call the police?"
"It's no use. Those people are gangsters, used to acting with impunity. We have no power now. How can we possibly stand up to them?"
