Richard and Franz both looked a bit dazed.
Their first stop was Kempson, which had changed yet again. The factories had transformed from open-air pits into enclosed structures. All the smokestacks had been replaced with Teleportation Arrays leading to the Air Elemental Plane. Only a few towering chimneys remained, beneath which were boiler turbines for waste heat recovery, slowly puffing out harmless white clouds of water vapor.
The Steel Factory, ammonia plant, and coking plant had merged into one massive complex through mutual expansion. Downstream from the refinery was an organic synthesis plant. All of Lansite's organic synthesis companies, led by Basif, had relocated here to produce fuel, medicine, and polymer materials.
