As summer began in Bayern, the weather alternated between hot and cold spells. Fortunately, there were none of the treacherous foehn winds of the Central Mountain Range to contend with. But now, a different kind of "scorching wind" was wreaking havoc.
The Wool and Textile Guild received a shocking piece of news, like a bolt from the blue. From the various states along the Tams River to the northern Empire, all their clients were terminating their contracts and canceling their final orders for finished yarn. As if by common consent, tariffs on wool were also raised. The Workshop Masters were bewildered; never before the war had the various members of the Empire, north and south, acted in such perfect unison.
