The greatest hurdle when practicing the Breathing Fire Technique was the Fire Talisman, condensed from Magical Power, being insufficient to contain the True Fire, causing the True Fire to explode in one's mouth.
For an ordinary Cultivator, if a Fire Talisman misfired and exploded, the outcome was certain death.
Therefore, when cultivating the Breathing Fire Technique, they would typically spend several years honing their skills in drawing Fire Talismans. Then, they would practice containing Spiritual Fire within talismans using milder Tier One Spiritual Fires.
Only when all preparations were complete would they attempt to contain True Fire within a Fire Talisman.
For some cautious Cultivators, it would take at least twenty to thirty years from first learning the Breathing Fire Technique to actually swallowing the fire.
However, the power of the Breathing Fire Technique was well worth the long years of practice.
