Water World was located between two small mountain ridges in the southern suburbs of Binhai, only a few kilometers from the Phoenix Tail Mountain Villa District and its golf course.

It was originally a pond spanning several thousand square meters, but a company later invested a huge sum of money to excavate and extensively renovate it, turning it into a water-themed amusement park.

What the citizens of Binhai loved most about the place was its large, realistic man-made beach.

The fine sand, which stretched for over a thousand meters along the lake's edge, was said to be high-quality sea sand transported all the way from the South Sea. The lake even had artificially simulated waves.

Binhai's own coastline was all mudflats and was also heavily polluted.

Coming to Water World on a Sunday to experience the feeling of strolling along a beach and sunbathing had become the next best thing for many Binhai residents.
