Admittedly, many patients with spinal canal tumors, and some with brain tumors, recovered better after Yan Feifan's percutaneous injections than they would have with conventional surgery.

But Yan Feifan had no desire to spend all his time and energy on the dehydrated ethanol injection technique, which no longer posed much of a challenge for him.

He was determined to press on toward his goal of becoming an all-around surgeon.

Even Mr. Lo disapproved of Yan Feifan dedicating more of his time and energy to treating patients with spinal canal tumors.

The patients were endless, but there was only one Yan Feifan.

With Yan Feifan's intelligence and medical talent, he ought to use his youth to learn more medical knowledge, assimilate it, and master it, in hopes of producing more significant medical research breakthroughs in the future.

In Mr. Lo's words, it was a matter of choosing between short-term benefits and long-term development.
