Yan Feifan walked into the lobby of the general administration building and heard the DING of an arriving elevator.
He jogged a few steps and saw Mr. Cheng walking out of the elevator.
Mr. Cheng was fifty-eight this year and would be retiring in about two years.
He looked much younger than his actual age, with somewhat full features and not many visible wrinkles.
Most notably, he had a thick head of hair, dyed jet-black and slicked back.
In Yan Feifan's opinion, Mr. Cheng didn't have a strong presence at the hospital, mainly just making an appearance at important events.
It was rare to see him around the hospital on a typical day.
Yan Feifan guessed that the director, who had been transferred from the Health Commission, knew that his position as the director of the Affiliated Hospital was the last stop in his career. He probably just wanted to coast quietly into retirement and avoid stirring up any trouble.
