Chapter 146 - Chapter 144

144 The old realm of gods has retreated into seclusion! The choice of the Goddess of Life!

Zhong Ming hurried over to help Zhong Yang up.

"This is pure, ultimate demonic power—utterly inconceivable." Zhong Yang forced the words out, his body so weak it trembled.

Panda Big Fly couldn't bear seeing Ah Yin like this; channeling his beast-spirit body, he rolled straight at Chu Feng again.

It was futile. Big Fly felt his strength being diluted away. Fortunately his cultivation was high; just before touching Chu Feng he tumbled aside.

This power had likely surpassed the Demon Realm—truly terrifying.

Ah Yin could barely breathe, yet her spirit energy wasn't devoured by Chu Feng; after all, the divine sense within him still belonged to her.

Ah Yin didn't resist; instead a tear slipped from her eye onto the demonic qi. Instantly Chu Feng clutched his head, writhing out of control.

Blood began to flow. Seeing this, Ah Yin rushed forward and hugged him.

Warmth slowly rose through Chu Feng's body; his consciousness began returning. When he opened his eyes he saw the long-lost Demon Realm and, to his surprise, felt it intimately familiar.

Before him, Ah Yin no longer had strength to stand and collapsed completely. Chu Feng hurried to catch her; only then did he realize how important this woman was to him.

"Master, you're alright—just now you scared me to death." Zhu Zhuqing finally relaxed.

Zhong Yang walked over, wary. "I advise you to use that ultimate demonic power sparingly. You were reborn from that mass of demonic qi, but if you die again it won't be so simple to return. Raise your cultivation first."

"I'll remember Brother Yang's teachings. But right now I must get them out of here—Meng Ran and Ah Yin's souls are scattered; without treatment soon, they'll have no hope." Chu Feng was deeply worried.

"Then have you decided on a destination?"

No."

"I think we can go to North Snow City; my master says he can cure anything." The darn cat finally proved useful at the crucial moment.

"Brother, aren't you going to consider reviving our great cause?" Zhong Ming grew agitated; he didn't want to let Chu Feng leave—this power could contend with the Heavenly Dao.

"Since I now wield the Demon Realm's strength, I will return. Your enemies are mine, but the time isn't ripe." Chu Feng's temperament had shifted; he began shouldering his destiny.

Zhong Yang patted Zhong Ming's clothes. "Satisfied now?"

"But Master, White God Path is still outside keeping watch. What if many other cultivators are out there?" Zhu Zhuqing voiced the concern.

"No problem. Where the demon luo tree was destroyed there's a passage to the human world—it can teleport to an unpopulated area. Brother Xu just created it when he shattered the tree with his qi." Zhong Ming explained.

"Everyone, until we meet again."

Chu Feng's group bade farewell to the Zhong brothers. He realized Zhong Yang's seal had long been broken; back in the tower he'd sensed it, but hadn't guessed the man's true aim and let it go.

White God Path's bead—previously holding Meng Ran—now carried Ah Yin too. Rich spirit energy inside would regulate her body, but a cure had to be found quickly.

Still, they parted with White God Path without saying goodbye; Chu Feng hoped the man would fare well—his dirty deal proved he wasn't entirely upright.

Passing from the Demon Realm back to the human world, a blast of cold air hit them; the blood-red sky turned snow-white.

North Snow City's territory lived up to its name—snow fell year-round. Beneath the ice and snow, distant lights glimmered as dusk approached.

"We're in luck—this is the high mountain near the city's front gate. Follow me!" Panda Big Fly seemed to know the way by heart; apparently his earlier claims weren't exaggerated.

Chu Feng had devoured divine sense and learned demonic arts; he wasn't starving, yet the city's aroma still tempted him.

As mentioned, the city was like a kingdom with many districts—North Snow City had nearly twenty-one. Reaching Qin Hao would take time.

A thick layer of frost covered the iron city gate, heavily rusted, and no soldiers guarded it.

"Don't rush in. No guards, but the gate's laced with qi-formed traps—watch out," Big Fly warned.

He produced a token and aimed it at the gate; moments later the door shook and slowly slid open on its own.

Everything ran on spirit energy—North Snow City already showed signs of mechanization.

"This is the outermost district, Snow Fort. It's snowing hardest now—how about we rest before seeking the city lord?" Big Fly suggested.

"Fine. I'll try to force out the divine sense to keep their bodies intact; that should buy time."

Chu Feng wasn't careless; he knew bringing two weakened women invited danger if trouble struck. The weather worsened, visibility dropping.

The city's situation remained unclear—no room for recklessness.

Chu Feng grew ever more cautious, sensing growing danger within the city.

"I still have some coin. Let's stay tonight at Moon-Viewing Pavilion—the best place in Snow Fort." Big Fly drooled at the thought.

"Quit yapping like a tour guide and lead the way." Chu Feng was anxious.

The locals' body heat stayed normal; apart from snow on roofs the streets were spotless. Maintaining this city-wide effect must consume vast spirit energy.

Whoever designed and implemented this had to be a master.

Moon-Viewing Pavilion—an elegant name. The red-wood building was carved with birds and beasts. Unlike the temples they'd seen, this was a proper restaurant.

"Oh my, such fine weather today—what wind blows our dear Cat Lord here?" The proprietress greeted them, clearly familiar with the panda.

"Three guests, six rooms left." Big Fly spoke smoothly.

"Didn't expect your status to change so quickly—impressive." Chu Feng praised.

"Enough of that—let's eat first." Big Fly's mood seemed much improved.

Before meeting Qin Hao, Chu Feng imagined how powerful the man must be—secluded year-round, yet his qi suffused the entire city, perhaps even stronger than White God Path.

After settling Meng Ran and Ah Yin in their rooms, Chu Feng shielded them with his Five Elements Universe Cover and fed in some divine sense to keep their bodies stable.

Though Chu Feng had lost his spirit qi, disaster had brought fortune: he now wielded some of the divine sense freely.
