"I know," Naruto said with a faint smile as he casually set the puppet aside.
"He called himself Ōtsutsuki Toneri, another bloodline left behind by the ancestors of the Hyūga clan."
He continued calmly,
"But please rest assured, Lord Hiashi—he will never appear again."
Hearing this, the tension in Hiashi Hyūga's expression eased slightly. After a few rapid thoughts, he nodded.
"Although this base is not far from Mount Shiboku, I still ask that the Barrier Team re-establish the barrier from now on."
"Oh?"
A trace of surprise flashed through Naruto's eyes.
"Don't you feel that living like this is no different from being caged?"
"For the sake of the clan's safety, it is worth it."
Hiashi shook his head, his face impassive.
"Besides, the barrier does not restrict our freedom of movement."
Ever since Naruto saw Hamura Ōtsutsuki appear in Feng's memories—and had Feng relay the message about the passage connecting Earth and the Moon—he had deliberately instructed the Second Tsuchikage to raise another mountain beside Mount Shiboku and relocate the Hyūga clan there.
He had intentionally refrained from placing any barrier on that mountain.
The purpose was simple: to lure Ōtsutsuki Toneri out.
In the original records, Toneri himself stated that his clan could monitor Earth through the Giant Tenseigan on the Moon. Naruto didn't know the exact surveillance range of that eye, but the failed Tenseigan prototype he had created—by fusing countless cloned Byakugan over half a year—was more than sufficient to monitor the entirety of the Land of Spring.
Hiashi's fear of Toneri was not unfounded.
Through the Mirror World, Naruto had already reviewed what had just occurred. Toneri, possessing Hamura's complete inheritance, had an intimate understanding of the Hyūga clan's combat system. By remotely controlling vast numbers of puppets, he had easily suppressed the Hyūga with sheer numerical advantage.
The moment Toneri revealed his true body, Naruto's other consciousness within the Mirror World immediately ordered the Edo Tensei–summoned Barrier Team to activate a fully sealed barrier.
Yet Toneri condensed chakra into a golden longsword and forcibly cut his way out.
That single strike was terrifying in power—the Adamantine Sealing Barrier, designed specifically to restrain tailed beasts, tore apart like paper before it.
However, the instant that technique was used, every puppet attacking the Hyūga clan ceased functioning and collapsed to the ground.
Naruto found the technique familiar.
But at this point in time, Toneri shouldn't have possessed the Tenseigan yet.
After a moment of thought, Naruto formed a hand seal and said,
"The barrier has already been raised. You truly can rest easy—Toneri should be captured any moment now."
Elsewhere…
"Silver Wheel Reincarnation Explosion!"
High above the seas near the Land of Spring, a blue-white–haired youth with closed eyes stood atop a mechanical bird resembling a flying eagle, racing through the sky.
Suddenly, he swung his arm and unleashed a massive tornado toward an apparently empty direction.
"Damn it! Without the Byakugan, I can't sense that bastard's position!
The Hyūga clan dares to defy their destiny—this failed world truly deserves to be destroyed!"
The youth roared furiously.
"An admirable ambition,"
a calm, ghostly voice suddenly echoed in front of him.
"I can help you fulfill it."
The youth's expression changed drastically. He hurriedly tried to turn the mechanical bird—but a moment later, an overwhelming sense of mortal danger seized his heart.
He forced the bird to halt in midair.
He felt as though he had been trapped inside a box—no matter which direction he looked, there was nowhere to escape.
And in truth, he was inside a box.
A box formed by Hashirama Senju, Tobirama Senju, Gengetsu Hōzuki, and the Third Raikage—the Four Red Yang Formation.
The four hovered in the air at cardinal positions, forming a perfectly sealed, massive cubic barrier—just like Orochimaru's subordinates once had.
Looking at the panicked youth inside the barrier, Naruto smiled faintly. His figure blurred, appearing directly above Toneri.
He spread his hand.
"Shuriken Shadow Clone Technique!"
A storm of kunai rained down.
"Silver Wheel Reincarnation Explosion!"
Toneri thrust both hands upward, releasing twin cyclones—but in the next instant, an arm burst straight through his chest.
"Ugh—!"
Toneri froze in disbelief.
The mechanical bird beneath his feet lost power and plummeted. His eyes snapped open—
But he saw nothing.
His eye sockets were empty, nothing but two pitch-black voids.
Ignoring the gore, Naruto withdrew his arm, seized Toneri by the head, and dark sealing curse marks instantly spread across his entire body.
"Soul Confinement."
Detected a bound soul. Initiate harvest?
Congratulations. Successfully harvested an otherworldly soul: Ōtsutsuki Toneri.
"So the Giant Tenseigan on the Moon uses Hamura's own Tenseigan as its core," Naruto murmured, reviewing the memories.
"It was formed by fusing the ocular power of countless Byakugan."
After Hamura's death, in order to preserve his eyes eternally, the Moon's main family forced the branch family to sacrifice their Byakugan and fuse them with Hamura's eyes, creating the first Giant Tenseigan.
Later, the main family also contributed many Byakugan, but their control over the Giant Tenseigan was far inferior to that of the branch family, who had sacrificed their entire lineage.
Then one day, the branch family's leader proclaimed that he had received Hamura's divine revelation through the Tenseigan—commanding them to destroy Earth.
That so-called revelation was nothing more than an illusion born from the corrupting influence of the Giant Tenseigan's power.
As for Toneri's descent to Earth this time—Naruto had truly forced his hand.
"The power of the Ōtsutsuki clan seems fated to eventually converge upon a single individual," Naruto mused.
"Without my interference, among Hagoromo's bloodline, only Sasuke would remain of the Uchiha. Tsunade is effectively the end of the Senju. The Uzumaki hardly need mentioning. And if the Hyūga hadn't stayed on Earth, they would have gone extinct as well."
"It's almost as if the Ōtsutsuki are destined to wipe themselves out."
Within the Mirror World, Naruto contemplated Toneri's memories.
At thirteen years old, Toneri had taken full control of the Giant Tenseigan two years earlier, after his father's death. Through experimentation, he realized that by combining Earth-born Hyūga Byakugan with himself, he could potentially awaken a true Tenseigan.
At the time, he could not freely draw upon the Giant Tenseigan's power. After repeated trips between Earth and the Moon, he used Hamura's Yin–Yang Release to develop a secret technique that temporarily borrowed the Tenseigan's power.
It functioned like charging a battery—once used up, the power vanished.
But if he could awaken his own Tenseigan, he would one day be able to claim the Giant Tenseigan's entire ocular power.
Just as Toneri was preparing to refine the technique further, he discovered that the Hyūga clan of Konoha had completely vanished.
He panicked.
For months, he secretly descended to Earth, searching for them—until two months ago, when the Giant Tenseigan finally located the Hyūga in the Land of Spring.
After another month of deliberation, Toneri brought his puppets to Earth.
Only to walk straight into a trap.
Realizing this, he immediately burned seventy percent of his stored power to escape using Golden Wheel Reincarnation Explosion. After that, Naruto had the Second Tsuchikage continuously harass him with Dustless Bewildering Mist, draining his chakra until Toneri could no longer draw upon the Giant Tenseigan's power on Earth.
Only then did Naruto deploy the former Four Kage and end him with the Four Red Yang Formation.
"With the Tenseigan on the Moon now ownerless… maybe it's time to pay it a visit—hmm?"
As Naruto pondered, he received a request from his father, Minato Namikaze, to enter the Mirror World. With a thought, Naruto granted access.
"Naruto," Minato said immediately upon appearing,
"Sasuke has decided to kill Danzō on the night of the next full moon."
"That's the anniversary of the Uchiha massacre," Naruto replied with a smile.
"Once Danzō is dead, it'll be time for Sasuke to repay the favor he owes me."
Author's Note:
The setting that Hamura possessed the Tenseigan comes from official Naruto novels, stated directly by Toneri himself. In the novels, Toneri was not born without eyes—he willingly offered his eyes after awakening the Byakugan, merging them into the Giant Tenseigan.
