Chapter 70 - Chapter 70

The moon cast a pale, cold light over the meadow where Fūka lay pinned beneath the sheer kinetic pressure of Naruto's Wind Style Rasengan. The high-frequency hum of the compressed wind sphere sounded like a jet engine, throwing the crimson strands of her hair into a chaotic frenzy. Her beautiful face was twisted in a mixture of unadulterated terror and furious defiance. "I asked you a question," Naruto said, his voice devoid of its usual warmth. His blue eyes were as hard as glacial ice. "What is Furido's ultimate plan with the Guardian Ninja corpses?"

Fūka gritted her teeth, a defiant, spiteful smirk cutting through her fear. "You think... you think you've won, little boy? You know nothing. Furido's plan is already in motion. And I would rather die a thousand times than betray—"

"Yeah, I really don't have the time or the patience for the loyal henchman speech," Naruto interrupted flatly, extinguishing the Rasengan in a puff of dissipating green chakra.

Fūka let out a shaky breath, a triumphant smirk touching her lips, assuming the boy didn't have the stomach for actual interrogation.

She was dead wrong.

"Torture? I don't have time for something so inefficient," Naruto muttered. He reached into the inner pocket of his white jacket and pulled out a small, rectangular strip of parchment paper. The paper was covered in dense, highly complex Uzumaki sealing formulas, written in a deep, metallic black ink. "I prefer absolute certainty."

Before Fūka could even flinch, Naruto's hand blurred downward. He slapped the paper tag directly onto her forehead.

"Fūinjutsu: Mind-Speaking Truth Seal!"

Naruto channeled a sharp burst of chakra into the tag. The black ink instantly liquefied, crawling off the paper and sinking directly into Fūka's skin like creeping veins. The formulas wrapped around her temples and snaked down her jawline, glowing with a faint, pulsing blue light.

Fūka gasped, her eyes widening in absolute horror as a sudden, heavy pressure seized her vocal cords and completely hijacked her cognitive filters. She tried to mold her chakra to burn the seal away, but the Uzumaki formula suppressed her elemental affinities entirely.

"This is a specialized interrogation seal," Naruto explained calmly, crossing his arms. "It directly connects your vocal cords to your subconscious truth center. As long as this seal is active, any question I ask you, you are physically forced to answer with the absolute truth as you know it. You can't lie, you can't omit details, and you can't stay silent. Now, let's try this again."

Naruto crouched down, his blue eyes entirely devoid of warmth. "What is Furido planning to do with the stolen corpses of the Twelve Guardian Shinobi?"

Fūka tried to clamp her mouth shut. She bit her lip so hard it bled, but the glowing blue seals on her jaw pulsed violently. Her jaw forced itself open against her own will, her voice completely monotonous and robotic as the seal hijacked her system.

"He... he is resurrecting the four Guardian Shinobi who possessed the Lightning elemental affinity," Fūka's voice echoed hollowly. "Seito, Tō-u, Kitane, and Nauma."

"Why those four specifically?" Naruto pressed, his eyes narrowing.

Fūka's body trembled as she fought the seal, but the words continued to spill from her lips. "Because... together, they possess the ability to cast the ultimate Lightning Style jutsu. Limelight."

Naruto's breath hitched slightly. He remembered the name of the jutsu. "Limelight... A technique designed to completely incinerate an entire landscape in a single strike. He's planning to use it on the Hidden Leaf Village, isn't he?"

"Yes," Fūka answered mechanically. "He plans to position the four resurrected lightning users at the four cardinal points surrounding Konoha. Once they synchronize their chakra, Limelight will activate, dropping a localized lightning storm so intense it will turn the entire village, and everyone inside it, to white ash."

The sheer scale of the terrorism settled over the clearing. But Naruto wasn't finished.

"And what about Sora?" Naruto asked, his mind piecing the puzzle together. "Why did Furido isolate the kid? What does he want with him?"

"Sora is the key to holding off the Konoha reinforcements," the seal forced Fūka to confess. "Furido... Furido's true name is Kazuma. He is Sora's biological father. He intends to shatter the psychological seals placed on Sora, forcing the boy to unleash the pseudo-Nine-Tails chakra sealed within his arm. Sora will transform into a beast and destroy the Konoha shinobi, buying enough time for Limelight to charge."

"Kazuma," Naruto whispered. The missing pieces finally fell into place.

Naruto stood up, his face hardening into a mask of pure tactical focus. He formed a single hand sign, creating a Shadow Clone. The clone immediately dropped down and struck the pressure points on the back of Fūka's neck, instantly knocking her unconscious before binding her tightly in ninja wire.

"Watch her," Naruto ordered the clone. "If she wakes up, keep her locked down."

Without waiting for a reply, the real Naruto vanished in a concussive burst of speed, leaving a crater in the dirt where he had been standing.

Naruto tore through the dense forest canopy, moving faster than he had all night. His chakra flared, pushing his physical body to its absolute limits as he blurred from branch to branch. The wind howled past his ears, but his internal sensory network was completely dialed in on the massive, chaotic clash of chakra erupting several miles to the east.

As he closed the distance, Naruto couldn't help but curse himself internally.

Damn it, Naruto thought, his jaw clenched tight. Why didn't I pay more attention to this arc back in my old world?

In his previous life, before he had awoken in this world as Naruto Uzumaki, he had watched the anime. But like many viewers, he had largely glossed over the "filler" arcs, viewing them as secondary, unimportant side stories that didn't affect the grand scheme of the Akatsuki or Madara Uchiha. He had only a hazy, fragmented memory of Sora, Fūka, and Kazuma.

I was an idiot, Naruto berated himself, leaping over a massive gorge. In this world, there is no such thing as 'filler.' These are real people, real threats, and real lives on the line. Kazuma is literally planning to nuke the entire village with a lightning strike, and I completely forgot about it because it wasn't 'canon' enough for my old self! I can't rely on my meta-knowledge to carry me through everything. I have to stay sharp, treat every mission with absolute seriousness, and stop assuming things will just work themselves out!

Ahead of him, a massive explosion of wind and debris tore through the tree line, shattering ancient stone monuments and sending a plume of black smoke into the night sky. He could feel Shikamaru's shadow chakra struggling under immense pressure, and the feral, burning, vermillion aura of the pseudo-Nine-Tails chakra violently expanding.

Naruto's eyes hardened. No more holding back. I'm ending this right now.

In the ancient clearing of the Fire Temple monuments, the situation had completely deteriorated. Shikamaru was on his knees, blood dripping from his nose as he desperately held the Shadow Possession jutsu. Choji was panting heavily, standing in his expanded form to shield them. Sora was trapped in the center, roaring in absolute agony as the burning, red chakra of the Nine-Tails bubbled from his skin, forming into a single, massive feral tail.

Standing a few yards away, completely unbothered, Kazuma (Furido) twirled his heavy iron monk's staff. "It's useless to resist," Kazuma mocked, his white hair blowing in the heated wind. "The boy belongs to the true King now. Once the beast fully awakens, you Leaf shinobi will be the first to burn."

Kazuma raised his staff, channeling a massive burst of Wind Style chakra to deliver a lethal, sweeping crescent blade that would decapitate Shikamaru and break the shadow bind entirely.

"Die for your Hokage!" Kazuma shouted, swinging the staff forward.

"Wind Style: Rasengan!"

A blinding flash of green light erupted from the tree line. Naruto slammed into the clearing like a meteor. He didn't aim for Kazuma; he aimed directly for the incoming, massive wind blade. Naruto thrust the swirling, high-density green sphere of the Wind Rasengan directly into Kazuma's attack.

The collision of the two supreme wind techniques created an explosive, localized hurricane. The shockwave shattered the ground, tearing up massive chunks of bedrock and sending Kazuma skidding backward across the dirt, his eyes widening in shock.

Naruto landed smoothly in front of Shikamaru and Choji, acting as an impenetrable wall between the Leaf shinobi and the rogue fanatic.

"Naruto!" Shikamaru gasped, the strain on his face instantly lessening at the sight of the blonde's white jacket.

"Maintain the shadow bind, Shikamaru," Naruto ordered without looking back, his voice cold and authoritative. "Don't let the Nine-Tails chakra take full control of Sora. I'll handle the old man."

Kazuma narrowed his eyes, planting his staff into the earth. "So, you're the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki. I can sense the authentic beast within you. But you're too late, boy. The Limelight is already being prepared."

"Yeah, I know all about your little lightning trick, Kazuma," Naruto said, purposefully using the man's real name.

Kazuma flinched, his composure cracking for the first time. "How do you know that name?"

"Your redhead subordinate talks a lot when you slap a truth seal on her forehead," Naruto replied dryly. He cracked his knuckles. "Now, I'm going to beat you to a pulp and stop your zombies before they can even scratch Konoha."

"Arrogant brat!" Kazuma roared, ripping his staff from the ground. "Earth Style: Bedrock Devastation!"

Kazuma slammed his hands onto the dirt. The ground beneath Naruto instantly fractured, turning into a massive, jagged maw of stone spikes designed to impale him from below.

Naruto didn't even blink. He leaped flawlessly into the air, completely evading the spikes. While airborne, his hands blurred through a sequence of signs. "Fire Style: Dragon Flame Bomb!"

Naruto inhaled deeply and expelled a massive, roaring torrent of superheated fire shaped like a dragon's head. The flames illuminated the entire valley, crashing down toward Kazuma with enough heat to melt the stone spikes below.

"He can use Fire Style?!" Kazuma grunted, rapidly spinning his iron staff. "Wind Style: Vacuum Deflection!"

The high-speed rotation of the staff created a dense, vacuum-sealed barrier of wind that forcefully split the incoming flames, sending the fire crashing harmlessly into the surrounding forest. But as the fire parted, Naruto was already falling directly toward him, a kunai drawn in each hand.

The two clashed in a blur of high-speed close-quarters combat. Kazuma swung his heavy iron staff, utilizing the superior reach and weight of the weapon to crush Naruto's guard. But Naruto's taijutsu was flawless. He parried the staff with the flat of his kunai, sidestepping the heavy blows with millimeter precision.

Clang! Clang! Clack!

Sparks flew as steel met iron. Kazuma gritted his teeth; the boy was impossibly fast, and his physical strength was overwhelming. Every time their weapons locked, Kazuma felt a shockwave travel up his arms, threatening to dislocate his shoulders.

"You're good," Kazuma sneered, breaking the weapon lock and jumping back. "Water Style: Raging Waves!"

Kazuma expelled a massive, high-pressure waterfall from his mouth, intending to sweep Naruto away and drown him in the ensuing flood.

Naruto landed on a rock, perfectly balancing himself as he rapidly mirrored the elemental shift. "Earth Style: Mud Wall!"

A massive, incredibly dense wall of earth erupted from the ground in front of Naruto, perfectly absorbing the impact of the crashing water and creating a muddy, impassable marshland between them.

Naruto stood on top of his earth wall, looking down at Kazuma. "You're decent at elemental shifting, Kazuma. But your chakra reserves are already draining. You rely too much on wide-area attacks without any focused lethality."

Kazuma panted slightly, glaring up at the blonde. In his mind, he cursed. This kid wasn't fighting like a teenager; he was fighting like a hardened, veteran Kage. The boy was analyzing him, predicting his elemental shifts, and effortlessly countering them while conserving his own chakra.

"I don't need to defeat you," Kazuma laughed darkly, pointing his staff toward the struggling Sora in the background. "I just need to keep you occupied until Sora completely breaks! Once the beast takes over, you'll be forced to kill your own ally!"

"Wrong again," Naruto said, his eyes shifting to the tree line behind Kazuma. "I'm not the only one you have to worry about."

Before Kazuma could process the warning, the dense foliage behind him exploded outward.

"Don't move a muscle!" Yamato's voice boomed across the clearing.

"Wood Style: Four-Pillar Prison!"

Massive, reinforced beams of chakra-infused wood erupted from the ground directly beneath Kazuma. The wooden pillars rapidly interlocked, forming a heavy, inescapable cage that attempted to seal the rogue ninja inside. Kazuma barely managed to use the Body Flicker technique to escape the trap, reappearing on a high tree branch, only to find himself instantly surrounded.

Kakashi landed on a branch directly across from him, his Sharingan blazing bright red in the darkness, a kunai held lazily in his hand.

Below, Asuma Sarutobi stepped out from the shadows of the destroyed monuments. His twin trench knives were drawn, humming violently with blue wind chakra. The cigarette dangling from his lips glowed as he took a long drag, his eyes locking onto the man standing in the tree.

"Kazuma," Asuma said, his voice laced with a heavy, painful mixture of sorrow and absolute disbelief. "I watched you die. I buried you myself."

Kazuma looked down at the bearded Jonin, a wicked, fanatical smile spreading across his face. "Asuma... my old friend. It takes more than a single blade to kill a true patriot of the Fire Daimyo. But look at you... still playing the Hokage's lapdog after all these years."

Sakura, Ino, and Sai dropped into the clearing alongside Shikamaru and Choji.

"We've secured the perimeter," Ino reported quickly, her sensory net sweeping the area. "Fudō and Fūen are completely neutralized and bound. It's just him left."

Sakura cracked her knuckles, the ground beneath her boots splintering. "Say the word, Kakashi-sensei. We'll tear him apart."

Kakashi kept his Sharingan fixed on Kazuma. "Yamato, prioritize suppressing Sora's pseudo-Nine-Tails chakra. The rest of us will bring Kazuma into custody. If he resists... lethal force is authorized."

"Understood," Yamato nodded. He blurred across the clearing, placing his hand onto the specialized Hokage necklace resting around Sora's neck. Yamato channeled his unique Wood Style suppression chakra. "Hokage-Style Sixty-Year-Old Technique: Kakuan Entering Society with Bliss-Bringing Hands!"

Glowing wooden pillars erupted around Sora, forcefully draining and suppressing the volatile vermillion chakra. Sora gasped, the feral red tail dissolving back into his skin as he collapsed into the dirt, entirely exhausted but finally free of the beast's influence.

Seeing his ultimate weapon neutralized, Kazuma's composure shattered into pure, desperate fanaticism. "No! The King's will must be done! I won't let you ruin the Land of Fire!"

Kazuma leaped high into the air, channeling every single ounce of his remaining chakra into his staff. "Wind Style: Ultimate Beast Wave Gale Palm!"

He swung the staff downward in a massive, sweeping arc. An apocalyptic, roaring cyclone of razor-sharp wind blades descended upon the Konoha shinobi, threatening to shred the entire clearing to dust.

"Let's end this, Asuma!" Kakashi shouted.

Kakashi's hands blurred through signs. "Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!" He unleashed a massive sphere of roaring flames into the sky.

Beside him, Asuma took a deep breath. "Wind Style: Ash Pile Burning!" Asuma exhaled a massive cloud of superheated, highly combustible ash that perfectly merged with Kakashi's flames. The combination created a devastating, explosive firestorm that clashed directly with Kazuma's wind cyclone in mid-air.

The two massive jutsu fought for dominance, lighting up the night sky in a brilliant display of orange and crimson.

But Kazuma had forgotten about the boy who had worn him down in the first place.

High above the explosive clash, completely undetected, Naruto materialized from a puff of smoke directly behind Kazuma. He had left a shadow clone in the clearing and used the diversion of the combined jutsu to get above his enemy.

In Naruto's hand, a massive, swirling sphere of blue chakra roared to life.

"Big Ball Rasengan!"

Kazuma turned his head, his eyes widening in sheer terror as the blinding blue light filled his vision.

Naruto drove the Rasengan directly into Kazuma's back. The sheer kinetic force of the impact shattered the man's ribs instantly. Kazuma coughed up a massive spray of blood, his body violently launched downward like a shooting star. He crashed into the earth with the force of a meteor, creating a massive, smoking crater in the center of the Fire Temple monuments.

The dust settled slowly.

At the bottom of the crater, Kazuma lay completely motionless. His staff was shattered into pieces, and his fanatical crusade was permanently ended. Without Kazuma to supply the controlling chakra, the resurrection jutsu holding the four lightning Guardian Shinobi failed, dissolving the zombies into dust and permanently stopping the Limelight threat.

Naruto landed lightly on the edge of the crater, looking down at the defeated man. He let out a long sigh, his shoulders finally dropping in relief.

"Target neutralized," Kakashi reported quietly, deactivating his Sharingan.

The immediate danger had passed, but the emotional fallout of the night was just beginning to settle.

The Konoha shinobi gathered around the crater. Yamato, Sai, Sakura, and Ino immediately set to work securing Kazuma's body and checking the perimeter for any residual traps. Naruto stood nearby, leaning against a broken stone pillar, keeping a watchful eye on the surroundings.

A few yards away, Sora slowly pushed himself up from the dirt. His clothes were torn, his body bruised, and his breathing was ragged. He stumbled forward, pushing past Choji and Shikamaru until he reached the edge of the crater, looking down at the broken body of Kazuma.

Sora's hands were trembling violently. His entire worldview, everything he had believed about his father, his village, and his own existence, had been violently upended in a single night.

"He... he was my father?" Sora whispered, his voice cracking with a devastating mixture of betrayal and grief. He spun around, his desperate eyes locking onto Asuma, who stood silently with his trench knives sheathed. "Asuma! You knew him! You knew who he was! Tell me the truth!"

Asuma took a slow, deep drag from his cigarette, exhaling a long plume of grey smoke into the night air. The Jonin's face was deeply lined, carrying the heavy, agonizing burden of a man forced to confront his darkest past. He walked slowly toward Sora, stopping just a few feet away.

"Yes," Asuma said, his voice raspy and incredibly gentle. "His name was Kazuma. He was your biological father, Sora. And he was once my closest friend."

Sora's fists clenched. "Then why? Why did he attack the Leaf? Why did he do this to me? Why did you kill him?!"

Asuma looked down at the ground, the memories of a bloody civil war flashing behind his eyes. He sat down heavily on a broken stone slab, gesturing for Sora to listen. The rest of the Konoha team remained completely silent, respecting the gravity of the moment.

"Years ago, your father and I were both members of the Twelve Guardian Shinobi," Asuma began, his voice echoing softly in the quiet clearing. "We were chosen specifically to protect the Fire Daimyo, the ultimate ruler of the Land of Fire. We were brothers in arms. We trained together, fought together, and bled together. We both shared a deep love for our country."

Asuma looked up, his dark eyes locking onto Sora's. "But we had a fundamental disagreement about what 'protecting the country' actually meant. In the Land of Fire, we have two 'Kings.' We have the Fire Daimyo, who rules the civilian government and the economy, and we have the Hokage, who commands the military might of the Hidden Leaf Village. For decades, this balance of power is what kept our nation strong and peaceful."

"But my father didn't believe in that balance," Sora deduced, his voice shaking.

"No, he didn't," Asuma confirmed softly. "Kazuma was a purist. He believed that having two Kings was a flaw, a division of loyalty that would eventually tear the country apart. He became a fanatic. He believed that the Fire Daimyo should hold absolute, total power over the military, and that the Hidden Leaf Village, along with the Hokage, was an unnecessary, parasitic existence that needed to be eradicated."

Asuma took another drag of his cigarette, his hand trembling slightly. "His ideology began to infect the other Guardians. The Twelve Guardian Shinobi eventually split down the middle. Six of us, including myself, believed in the Hokage and the balance of power. The other six, led by your father, believed in a violent coup d'état to destroy Konoha."

"A civil war," Kakashi murmured quietly from the sidelines.

"Exactly," Asuma said, the pain evident in his voice. "We couldn't reach a peaceful resolution. Kazuma's faction launched an attack, intending to march on Konoha and wipe it off the map. We met them on the battlefield to stop them. Brother fought against brother. Friends slaughtered friends. By the end of the day... the Guardian Shinobi were decimated."

Asuma looked directly at Sora, refusing to hide from the boy's pain. "I fought your father in single combat. He was brilliant, powerful, and absolutely convinced he was right. I begged him to yield, but he refused. In the end, to save the Hidden Leaf Village and preserve the peace of the nation, I had to strike him down. I thought I had killed him that day. I buried him with my own hands."

Sora fell to his knees, tears finally spilling over his cheeks, cutting through the dirt and ash on his face. "So he really was a traitor... he really wanted to destroy the village..."

"He was a man consumed by a singular, twisted vision," Asuma said, crouching down to place a warm, comforting hand on Sora's trembling shoulder. "But his greatest crime wasn't his treason, Sora. His greatest crime was what he did to you."

Sora looked up, his eyes wide and vulnerable.

"Fifteen years ago, during the Nine-Tails' attack on the Hidden Leaf, a massive amount of the fox's residual chakra scattered across the atmosphere," Asuma explained, his voice hardening with disgust at Kazuma's actions. "Your father secretly collected that scattered chakra. He didn't want you to be his son, Sora. He wanted you to be a weapon. He forcefully sealed that residual demon chakra into your arm, cursing you to a life of pain, isolation, and hatred, all so you could eventually be used as a biological bomb against Konoha."

The complete, unfiltered truth hit Sora like a physical blow. For his entire life, he had hated the monks of the Fire Temple for treating him like a monster. He had hated the Leaf Village, believing they were responsible for his father's noble death. But the truth was far crueler. The monks had isolated him to protect him from the very curse his own father had forced upon him.

Sora buried his face in his hands, letting out a gut-wrenching sob. The anger, the hatred, the confusion—it all finally broke, pouring out of him in a flood of raw, unfiltered grief.

Asuma didn't offer any empty platitudes. He didn't tell the boy to stop crying. He simply stayed by his side, his hand resting firmly on Sora's shoulder, offering a silent, steady anchor in the storm of the boy's shattered reality.

Naruto watched the scene unfold, his blue eyes softening. He knew the pain of carrying a demon, the isolation of being feared by the people around you, and the devastating weight of a father's legacy. But unlike Sora, Naruto had found a family in Konoha that loved him for who he was.

He's going to be okay, Naruto thought, looking at Asuma, Shikamaru, and Choji standing around the crying teenager. He finally knows the truth. Now he can actually start living his own life.

The sun began to rise over the distant mountains, casting a warm, golden light over the ruined clearing. The long, bloody night was finally over, and the shadows of the past had finally been brought into the light.
