Chapter 20 - Brothers Of Different Worlds

The world held its breath.

Kael Viren stood upon the broken mountain ridge, his black cloak dancing wildly in the dimensional storm pouring from the Gate. Across from him, Asterion rested one hand upon the hilt of his sword, his expression calm, almost gentle.

The distance between them stretched for several kilometers.

Yet their eyes never left each other.

Neither moved.

Neither blinked.

Then...

Asterion smiled.

"You've grown beautifully."

Kael frowned.

"...What?"

"You survived eleven Sovereign Bloodlines."

"You awakened independent Avatars."

"You even resisted Father's Blood Command."

He sighed.

"Honestly..."

"...I'm impressed."

Kael tightened his grip on his sword.

"Stop speaking as if you know me."

"I do."

Asterion's golden eyes softened.

"I watched you."

"For sixteen years."

Kael's pupils contracted.

"You..."

"What?"

Before Asterion could answer—

He disappeared.

BOOM!!

The mountain exploded beneath Kael's feet.

Kael barely raised his blade in time.

CLANG!!

A shockwave burst across the Frostbound Expanse.

The impact split the earth for nearly fifty kilometers.

Rion was thrown into the air before desperately anchoring himself with countless threads.

"He's fast!"

Flamingo clicked its tongue.

"No..."

"It wasn't speed."

Harvester answered.

"He ignored distance."

Kael's feet dug into solid stone as Asterion calmly pushed forward with only one hand.

"I've always wondered..."

Asterion whispered.

"...whether Father's greatest masterpiece would surpass mine."

Kael's eyes narrowed.

"I'm nobody's masterpiece."

Golden lightning erupted around him.

Dragon Hybrid roared.

Kael twisted his body and punched.

BOOM!!

Asterion slid backward across the mountain, carving a trench nearly two kilometers long before stopping effortlessly.

He looked down at his sleeve.

It had torn.

For the first time...

He laughed.

"Amazing."

"You actually damaged my clothes."

Flamingo nearly exploded.

"He complimented you after taking your strongest punch!"

Kael remained expressionless.

"He wasn't serious."

"No."

The Moon Goddess answered.

"He still isn't."

The air suddenly became heavier.

Asterion slowly removed his black cloak.

Underneath...

His body was covered in glowing markings almost identical to Kael's Gene Lattice.

Except...

There weren't eleven.

There were fifteen.

Kael's breathing slowed.

"Fifteen..."

Asterion nodded.

"I inherited fifteen Sovereign Bloodlines."

"You inherited eleven."

"So..."

He drew his sword.

"...don't disappoint me."

The blade emerged without making a sound.

Instead...

The sky split apart.

Every cloud above Blue Star was cut in half.

Even the Gate itself trembled.

The Blade Avatar appeared beside Kael.

For the first time...

It spoke directly to someone other than Kael.

"...You're a swordsman."

Asterion smiled.

"And you're free."

The Blade Avatar narrowed its eyes.

"Not completely."

"No."

Asterion agreed.

"But you soon will be."

The Blade Avatar became silent.

Kael noticed.

"You know him?"

Asterion looked toward the independent avatar.

"I know all Sovereign Avatars."

"They're never born."

"They awaken."

"And eventually..."

"...they leave."

Flamingo folded its arms.

"I don't like where this conversation is going."

Asterion looked back toward Kael.

"You think your Avatars belong to you."

"They don't."

"They are future Sovereigns."

"They merely..."

"...haven't realized it yet."

Silence.

Harvester didn't argue.

Dragon Hybrid didn't roar.

Even the Moon Goddess remained quiet.

Kael's heart sank.

"Is he telling the truth?"

Finally...

The Moon Goddess answered.

"Yes."

"...Eventually..."

"...every Avatar becomes a complete lifeform."

Kael looked at his companions.

Flamingo shrugged.

"I was planning to tell you."

Harvester lowered its head.

"It changes nothing."

Dragon Hybrid simply growled.

"We chose you."

Those three words steadied Kael's heart.

He smiled.

"Then that's enough."

Asterion watched the exchange with quiet admiration.

"So that's your answer."

Kael raised his sword.

"They aren't my weapons."

"They're my family."

For the first time...

Asterion's smile disappeared.

"Family..."

He whispered the word as though tasting something forgotten.

Then his eyes became cold.

"Father was right."

"You've become too human."

His aura exploded.

Fifteen different colors erupted behind him.

Each color condensed into a gigantic phantom.

A Dragon.

An Angel.

A Titan.

A Sea Serpent.

A Crystal King.

A Void Monarch.

Fifteen Sovereign Bloodlines awakened simultaneously.

The pressure flattened entire mountain ranges.

Rion coughed blood despite being hundreds of kilometers away.

The Law immediately responded.

Thousands of Arbiters surrounded the battlefield.

> Warning.

> Planetary stability below acceptable threshold.

> Combat escalation prohibited.

Neither Kael nor Asterion listened.

Kael slowly exhaled.

"Everyone."

His Avatars looked at him.

"We fight together."

Flamingo grinned.

"Finally."

Harvester dissolved into darkness.

"I've been waiting."

The Blade Avatar lifted its sword.

The Moon Goddess appeared beside Kael in spectral form.

Dragon Hybrid roared loudly enough to shake the Gate itself.

Inside Kael's soul...

Something awakened.

A hidden chamber.

A twelfth throne.

It was empty.

Yet...

A heartbeat echoed from it.

Asterion's eyes widened.

"...Impossible."

"He found it already?"

Far beyond the Gate...

The crimson-eyed Civilization King slowly stood from his throne.

His smile disappeared for the first time.

"The Twelfth Seat..."

"So it truly exists."

His voice carried across dimensions.

"Do not kill him."

Asterion nodded respectfully.

"I understand."

The Civilization King slowly closed his eyes.

"If the Twelfth Avatar awakens..."

"...even I may no longer control the future."

The battlefield fell silent.

Kael looked inward for a brief moment.

An empty throne.

Waiting.

Calling.

Not with words.

But with destiny.

He looked back at Asterion.

"So..."

He lowered his stance.

"Let's find out who deserves to stand at the end."

The two figures vanished simultaneously.

Their collision illuminated the entire world like the birth of a second sun.
