"Welcome to Paradis Island!"
The Marleyan soldiers froze atop the speedboats, staring at one another in confusion, not understanding what the person before them meant. But very soon, they understood exactly what "welcome to Paradis Island" meant.
Blinding yellow arcs of electricity surged from Yago's body. Those black eyes looked toward the mass of Marleyan soldiers. Terrifying, surging steam caused the sea surface to churn violently, and the Marleyan soldiers on the three speedboats screamed as chaos erupted.
Crimson blood, pale bones, sinews knitting together, blood vessels intertwining—a massive Titan body emerged just like that.
"ROAR!!"
The feral roar blasted away the steam shrouding the Titan, revealing scarlet eyes and a mouth packed with jagged teeth large enough to stuff two Marleyan soldiers inside. This was Paradis Island's way of welcoming guests—the welcome of an intelligent Titan!
"Titan! It's a Titan! The island devil! Fire, fire!"
Terrified Marleyan soldiers wildly raised their rifles and opened fire, but mere bullets were nothing more than a tickle to the Fate Titan.
However, one of the speedboats' soldiers opened a crate and pulled out a green metal tube. Yago recognized it—it was a weapon called a bazooka, something he had seen during the battle to retake Maria. According to captured Marleyan soldiers, this short-range, low-power weapon wasn't favored by the Marleyan military; the few dozen units they had were tossed to the navy like garbage.
Seems that really was the case. Even if its power wasn't great, Yago still didn't want these Marleyan soldiers blasting a few scorch marks into his Titan's face.
With no fancy movements at all, the Fate Titan simply bent down and effortlessly flipped all three speedboats over. Instantly, more than thirty soldiers splashed about.
The Fate Titan then leisurely hoisted the three speedboats loaded with Marleyan supplies and walked toward the shore. All the supplies were tightly secured to the boats with waterproof bags and ropes.
...
On the other side, the Marleyan soldiers on the deck had clearly seen the Fate Titan suddenly appear and overturn the speedboats. The gathered soldiers instantly erupted into chaos.
"Captain! Where's the captain?! What do we do?! That has to be a Titan formed by Eldians from the devil island!"
A Marleyan soldier with the rank of captain shouted toward the captain's cabin, cold sweat pouring down his face.
Bang!
The captain's cabin door was kicked open from the inside. Yelena emerged, pushing Jeff, who was tightly bound. As Yelena stepped out, more than a dozen Marleyan soldiers rushed out from all around, rifles raised, black armbands tied around their arms. But their gun barrels were aimed at the Marleyan soldiers on deck.
Instinctively, the Marleyan soldiers on deck raised their rifles as well, confronting those wearing black armbands.
"Yelena! What do you think you're doing?! Are you trying to betray the nation?!"
The Marleyan captain roared at Yelena.
Yelena smiled and said, "Betray the nation? I've never acknowledged myself as a Marleyan. Captain, your best choice right now is to put down your weapon and surrender."
As if realizing something, the captain asked in disbelief,
"You defected to the Eldians?!"
Yelena raised a slender finger and shook it.
"No, no, no. Cooperation. This is cooperation between us Marleyan Volunteers and the Eldians."
"Traitor! Die!"
The Marleyan captain immediately raised his pistol and fired at Yelena, completely disregarding the bound Jeff.
As the captain fired, the dozen or so Marleyan soldiers on deck all opened fire on the surrounding Marleyan Volunteers.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Intense gunshots rang out—but strangely, Yelena and the Marleyan Volunteers remained calmly in place, not moving at all, and didn't return fire.
The Marleyan captain stared at Yelena in shock as if she were completely unharmed. The Marleyan soldiers were all dumbfounded; the Volunteers looked at them as if they were idiots.
Leaning against the railing, Yelena said with a half-smile,
"Captain, you didn't think we Marleyan Volunteers spent all these days doing nothing, did you? Take a look at your bullets—there's a little surprise."
The Marleyan captain pulled out his magazine, instantly shocked and furious. Every round inside was a blank with a paper shell tip.
Just then, a small boat pulled up alongside the Courage.
Eren lifted his head and looked at the warship before him, took a deep breath, then decisively opened his mouth and bit into the base of his thumb.
Boom!
Towering yellow lightning surged up from the sea, the tremendous spectacle terrifying the soldiers aboard the Courage.
Bang!
A massive hand of the Attack Titan slammed down onto the deck, the enormous force splitting it with several cracks.
Immediately after, a gigantic head appeared before everyone. A mouth stretched to the ears, pointed ears— the immense body of the Attack Titan cast a shadow over the entire deck. The overwhelming pressure made the Marleyan soldiers' legs go weak.
Standing within the shadow of the Attack Titan, Yelena raised both hands. "Put down your weapons and surrender!"
Marleyan captain: "You're full of sh—"
Bang!
Before he could finish speaking, a bullet hole appeared in the Marleyan captain's forehead.
Holding her pistol, Yelena spoke coldly, "Anyone else have objections?"
One Marleyan soldier dropped his weapon and raised his hands. Then a second, a third. In the end, all the Marleyan soldiers threw down their weapons and raised their hands.
...
At the dock, Connie tugged at the ill-fitting Marleyan soldier uniform on his body. Earlier, more than a dozen Survey Corps members wearing Marleyan uniforms had been jumping around and shouting—it felt unbelievably awkward.
Below the high wall where they stood were nearly a hundred fully armed Survey Corps soldiers, stationed to prevent any sudden accidents. But now, it seemed unnecessary.
Hange pushed up her glasses, looking a bit excited, having heard that this ship had brought over quite a lot of off-island technological materials.
Annie looked at the Marleyan warship with some unease, because Yago had said that after stabilizing the situation on the island, he would immediately take Annie to Marley to bring her father back.
Carrying the speedboats to the shore, the Fate Titan first placed two of them onto the beach. When setting down the third, the Fate Titan paused—because Yago noticed someone stuck to it.
A soaking-wet, blond-haired Nicolo was clinging desperately to a rope, legs flailing wildly, unwilling to fall from more than ten meters up and smash himself to death.
"Naughty~"
Yago reached out. The Fate Titan grabbed Nicolo like pinching a little mouse, pulled him down, then set him on the ground.
Nicolo had just experienced the most thrilling moment of his life. On the ship, he'd only been sent ashore early because he was a cook, to prepare food. In the blink of an eye, he ended up having an intimate, up-close encounter with a Titan more than ten meters tall.
Nicolo had just started to struggle up when a sudden chill brushed against his neck. A sharp blade he'd never seen before was pressed there. Stiffly turning his head, Nicolo saw only a pair of cold eyes.
