Chapter 241 - Chapter 241: Uzumaki Naruto, One Hour

The air crackled with energy as both versions of Naruto Uzumaki faced each other across the cratered landscape.

For the older Naruto, something stirred in his chest. Blood rushed through his veins with a heat he hadn't felt in years, a passion buried beneath mountains of paperwork and endless administrative responsibilities. This feeling, this wild anticipation of a real fight, reminded him of his youth. Those days when he and Sasuke would compete over everything, even who could eat more bowls of ramen.

But those days were long gone. Since becoming the Seventh Hokage, his life had become an endless stream of meetings, documents, and diplomatic negotiations. The peaceful ninja world no longer needed his warrior's spirit. Even Sasuke had changed, ground down by mortgage payments and domestic responsibilities.

The adult world, it seemed, had no room for passion.

Until now.

This other version of himself, this impossibly strong from another world, had reignited something the Seventh Hokage thought he'd lost forever. The sheer audacity of being beaten unconscious, dragged to the back mountain, and challenged to fight his own younger, more powerful self was so absurd that it broke through years of careful restraint.

For the first time in too long, Uzumaki Naruto, Seventh Hokage of Konohagakure, was going all out.

Truth-Seeking Orbs materialized around the older Naruto, black spheres of reality-warping chakra that hummed with divine power. He surged forward, Six Paths Sage Mode blazing, his body wrapped in the golden cloak of the Nine-Tails' chakra.

The hundred-meter giant that was young Naruto met him with a laugh that shook the mountain.

The collision sent shockwaves rippling across the landscape. Trees that had stood for centuries exploded into splinters. The ground cratered and split, geysers of dirt erupting like volcanic plumes. Fire bloomed where Truth-Seeking Orbs struck rock, and hurricane winds tore through the forest.

"Not bad!" the giant Naruto bellowed, his voice carrying genuine delight. "You should be good for an hour!"

An hour? The Seventh Hokage gritted his teeth, weaving between his younger self's attacks. What does that mean?

He didn't have time to puzzle it out. Even with Six Paths Sage Mode active, with all the power of a reincarnated demigod flowing through him, he was being pushed to his absolute limit. And his opponent wasn't even using ninjutsu.

Just pure taijutsu.

Just his fists.

The young Naruto moved with impossible grace for something so massive, each punch and kick executed with perfect technique. The older Naruto could see it now—this wasn't raw power. This was mastery. Every muscle fiber working in perfect harmony, every movement economical and devastatingly effective.

Different worlds, same name, same face, the Seventh Hokage thought as he barely dodged a palm strike that would have caved in a mountain. Why is there such a massive gap between us?

"Sasuke lasted ten minutes!" the young Naruto called out cheerfully, his fist connecting with the older version's hastily raised guard. "Lee made it to fifteen! Naruto, you get a full hour. I'm having so much fun!"

Ten minutes for Sasuke? Fifteen for Lee?

The Seventh Hokage's eyes widened as understanding crashed through him.

Oh no.

The world shifted. For a moment, the Seventh Hokage felt it—the space around him suddenly had an owner. The very air was watching him, the ground beneath his feet aware of his presence. It was as if the entire back mountain had become an extension of his younger self's consciousness.

He looked up just in time to see the fist coming.

The impact caught him square in the face. His nose crunched, blood exploded across his vision, and the sheer force transmitted through his entire body despite the Six Paths chakra cloak protecting him.

He flew backward through the air, tumbling end over end.

And young Naruto followed, his smile widening.

"BANG!"

The first punch in the air.

"BANG!"

The second, before the Seventh Hokage could recover.

"BANG! BANG! BANG!"

A third, fourth, fifth. Each one precisely timed, perfectly placed. The younger Naruto's fists found his face with metronomic regularity, each blow rattling his brain and making his ears ring.

The Seventh Hokage tried to activate his Rinnegan, tried to summon more Truth-Seeking Orbs, tried anything to break free.

Nothing worked.

It wasn't that he was paralyzed or sealed. It was simpler and more humiliating than that—he simply couldn't keep up. Every time he tried to counter, the next punch had already landed. Every attempted technique was interrupted before he could complete it.

They hit the ground in a crater of their own making.

The beating didn't stop.

"THUD. THUD. THUD."

The sounds echoed across the mountain, dull and rhythmic. No more explosions of clashing chakra. No more falling trees or splitting earth. Just the sound of fists meeting face, over and over and over.

The giant Naruto had returned to normal size now, crouched over his older self, methodically working through what was clearly a very practiced routine.

Minutes blurred together. The Seventh Hokage's Six Paths Sage Mode flickered and died, the strain too much to maintain while being used as a punching bag. His Truth-Seeking Orbs dissipated. His enhanced healing struggled to keep up with the damage.

But the beating continued.

Thirty minutes passed.

Forty-five.

The full hour.

Finally, mercifully, it stopped.

Young Naruto stood up, stretched his arms over his head, and looked at the fire-red clouds gathering in the western sky. "Huh," he said to himself, sounding pleased. "So that's what it's like to be friendly with myself. Interesting experience!"

From the ground, the Seventh Hokage—Sage Mode deactivated, face swollen beyond recognition, every part of his body screaming in protest—felt nothing but resentment.

Because now he understood.

Ten minutes for Sasuke. Fifteen for Lee. One hour for me.

Those weren't fight durations.

Those were beating durations.

Sasuke and Lee must be suffering in his world, the Seventh Hokage thought bitterly, his one functioning eye staring up at the darkening sky.

The young Naruto glanced down at him. For a moment, an odd expression crossed his face—like looking in a fun-house mirror. The reflection was recognizable but wrong. Older, more worn, lacking that certain edge.

Then, before the Seventh Hokage could blink, the younger version had donned the Hokage robes again. He reached down and, with surprising gentleness, helped his older self to his feet.

The Seventh Hokage's face twitched. Everything twitched. His healing factor was already working overtime, but even with the Nine-Tails' chakra helping, this would take at least a week to fully recover from.

The Seventh Hokage of Konoha, going to work with a face like a beaten pig, he thought miserably. How embarrassing.

The young Naruto propped him against a tree, then stepped back. His blue eyes, so familiar yet so different, studied the older version with curiosity.

"From another normal world," young Naruto said formally, "Konoha's Fifth Hokage, Uzumaki Naruto."

Fifth Hokage? The older Naruto's surprise showed even through the swelling. So he really did surpass me. Fifth Hokage as a teenager.

He straightened as best he could, returning the formal tone despite his condition. "The Seventh Hokage of Konoha, Uzumaki Naruto."

For a moment, both of them just stared at each other. Then, simultaneously, they started laughing. It was absurd. Ridiculous. Two versions of the same person, formally introducing themselves after one had beaten the other unconscious for an hour.

When the laughter faded, young Naruto's expression softened. "Naruto," he said, and it felt strange to address himself by name, "we can have a proper heart-to-heart now."

The Seventh Hokage paused. "..."

"What? Something wrong?" Young Naruto tilted his head.

"Actually," the Seventh Hokage said slowly, his swollen lips making the words difficult, "we could have had a conversation from the beginning. Without all the... you know."

"Ah, but I had to test my strength!" Young Naruto grinned unrepentantly. "Had to see how I'd measure up against another version of myself who followed the traditional path."

The Seventh Hokage sighed. There was no point arguing.

What followed was an odd but strangely comfortable conversation. Despite being from different worlds, despite one having just thoroughly beaten the other, there was no awkwardness between them. How could there be? They were the same person, after all.

At young Naruto's request, the Seventh Hokage began to speak, recounting his life story from the beginning. The loneliness, the pranks, meeting Iruka, joining Team Seven, the Chunin Exams, bringing Sasuke back, training with Jiraiya, the Fourth Shinobi War, becoming Hokage, marrying Hinata, having children.

Young Naruto listened intently, filing away every detail. He wanted to understand how the same person could take such a different path, could end up so different despite sharing the same core.

As the fire-clouds deepened to purple in the western sky, the two Naruto Uzumakis sat together under the tree, one telling his story while the other listened, both trying to understand the paths not taken and the choices that defined them.

The mountain was quiet now, save for the voice of the Seventh Hokage and the rustle of leaves in the evening breeze.
