General Pov
"My Lady," Allen growled, stepping forward, his tail thrashing violently behind him. "What in the name of the heavens is going on? Why does a monster have a Falna? And why is it demanding an update in the middle of a war council?"
Freya didn't look up from her work, her fingers moving gracefully to formalize the transition. "Kairu was eligible for a Level Up, Allen. He simply came to collect his due."
Allen's eyes narrowed into furious slits. The humiliation he had suffered at the hands of the bastard in the desert still burned like acid in his veins. If he couldn't put the master in his place, he could at least scoff at the pet.
"A level up," Allen sneered, his voice dripping with venomous condescension. "How quaint. Let me guess. The little puddle finally managed to scrape his way to Level 2 by eating scraps?"
Freya finished reading the update. She lifted her head and looked at Allen, her eyes gleaming with a predatory, devastating amusement that sent a chill down the spine of every executive in the room.
"He is Level 4," Freya answered simply.
The silence that followed was suffocating.

Ottar
It was a heavy, oppressive quiet—the kind that only descended when the fundamental laws of Orario were casually shattered and swept off the table.
Ottar's hulking frame remained deathly still, though a single bead of sweat formed at the base of his neck. His eyes were fixed on the blue blob currently jiggling on the table. It had not even been two full days since Maximus had broken past his own limits and leveled up to Level 3. Now, his familiar—a monster—was a Level 4?
The Warlord's mind, usually a fortress of unshakeable calm, scrambled to categorize the information. To Orario's adventurers, Level was not just a number. It was the tangible manifestation of a soul's history. It represented years of blood, shattered bones, despair, and the conquering of death itself. Ottar had clawed his way to the undisputed pinnacle of the world through decades of unrelenting agony.
Had this gelatinous creature truly accumulated that much history in a matter of weeks? He genuinely wondered if they were even talking about the same leveling system anymore, or if the boy's bizarre existence had irrevocably rewritten the rules of Excelia itself.
Regardless of the mechanics, Ottar felt a quiet relief as he watched the pure, radiant delight on his Mistress's face. She was fully enchanted, openly entertaining the slime in the middle of a highly classified war council. It reminded Ottar of the aftermath of the boy's recent magical accident. He had been surprised to find Max and the slime waiting steadfastly in Lady Freya's chambers when he returned from arranging repairs, but he had been deeply grateful. They had chosen to stay and protect her when they easily could have left.
Everything had briefly returned to a tense normal, right up until this meeting, when his Goddess gleefully chose to drag her entire elite vanguard into the chaos that naturally orbited Maximus. As Ottar watched Freya's fingers trace the glowing blue Falna, his warrior's intuition flared. She was entirely too amused. Which only meant she wasn't done with her game yet.

Hedin
His knuckles were stark white as he adjusted his glasses. His entire being violently rejected what was happening.
It was an insult to find a monster in the Freya Familia war room. That a filthy, ignorant slime had strolled through the heavy, warded double doors—doors crafted to thoroughly repel anyone under Level 3—was deeply offensive to his sensibilities. But for the ooze to casually brush past Orario's untouchable elite, 'regale' his dark-elf counterpart with a pantomimed story, and then flatten itself before the untouchable Goddess of Beauty to demand physical indulgence?
Hedin's blood had boiled. He had been a fraction of a second away from unleashing a lethal bolt of lightning to vaporize the ingrate. It would have been fitting, justified payback for the slime daring to intercept his magic back when he was 'disciplining' Maximus in Hogni's quarters.
But his Mistress's command had halted his charge. And her subsequent revelation completely shattered his aristocratic fury, replacing it with cold, ruthless pragmatism.
Level 4.
Hedin's jaw tightened. He knew how Maximus fought. The boy was a walking cataclysm of destructive magic. Therefore, the only logical conclusion in Hedin's mind was that the slime was a freeloader. It hadn't earned this Level. It had simply sat in its master's shadow, passively absorbing the residual Excelia of the boy's slaughtered foes like a parasite. To Hedin, whose entire identity was built on flawless magical discipline, extreme intellect, and calculated effort, a Level 4 born of pure accident was an abomination. A powerful creature without the discipline to wield that power was nothing but a rabid dog.
From a purely logical resource standpoint, however, a Level 4 Familiar was a massive, untapped asset. Since it was a monster, Hedin felt no compulsion to treat it with any delicacy. If it possessed the raw strength of a second-tier adventurer, then it had an obligation to bleed for the Familia.
His brilliant mind immediately began drafting training regimens. The slime would be infinitely more useful as a lethal, unpredictable hazard in the Familia's brutal daily Baptisms than whatever menial fetching it was doing for Maximus. Pitting the arrogant lower-level members against a gelatinous Level 4 would breed excellent character, or efficiently weed out the weak. He firmly intended to present this proposal to his Mistress the moment she finished indulging the creature.
Wait, Hedin thought, his eyes narrowing sharply as Freya slid a folded piece of parchment toward the beast. Is she... offering a monster Developmental Abilities?
-◈ -
The Gulliver Brothers
They stood utterly paralyzed.
Level 4. The words hit the quadruplets like an all-engulfing tsunami, violently drowning out the high spirits they had harbored just moments prior.
For the Gulliver Brothers, Level 4 was a sacred threshold. It was the undeniable proof of their worth. Before Lady Freya had saved them, they had been treated as subhuman trash. They had endured endless slurs, been spat upon, and had their bones broken countless times just to prove that Pallums couldn't stand among the giants of the world. They had bled together, cried together, and nearly died together to reach their current standing.
Now, a glorified, translucent puddle of ooze was their numerical equal?
And they were brutally certain the beast hadn't suffered a fraction of the agony they had endured. It was a pet. A pampered mascot that bounced around in the safety of its master's absurd magical protection. The revelation felt like a literal slap to the face, mocking everything they had sacrificed.
Alfrigg's face contorted into a mask of raw fury. He lunged forward, his hands reaching for his weapon, fully intending to squash the arrogant blob into paste to avenge their life's work.
Dvalinn and Berling immediately seized his arms, their boots skidding slightly against the floor as they anchored their brother. They had been ordered to stand down by their Goddess, and none of them would ever cross that line.
Yet, beneath their skin, a fanatical, paranoid need to protect their fragile status coiled tightly.
Wait, Grer thought, his eyes widening in horror as he stared at the jiggling slime. The requirement to be an Executive is Level 4.
The brothers operated as a flawless Level 5 unit, but their individual status remained Level 4. What if that shameless, arrogant pig Maximus tried to exploit a technical loophole? What if he dared petition the Goddess to make his pet an Executive? The horrifying image of Maximus sitting at this very table, with this brainless puddle occupying a chair beside him as an 'equal', flashed through their minds.
The sheer absurdity of the thought made the brothers grit their teeth so hard their jaws ached.
-◈ -
Allen
What the fuck is this nonsense?
Allen's breathing turned shallow and ragged, his tail lashing the air behind him like a spiked whip. Was the monster intentionally mocking them? Were they even judged by the same standards?
Allen "Vana Freya" Fromel lived for one thing: to be the fastest, the strongest, and the most worthy of his Goddess's gaze. He had dedicated his entire existence to being the ultimate weapon. And yet, Lady Freya was currently looking at this disgusting, gelatinous insect with more warmth and amusement than she had shown Allen in months.
His mind frantically searched for an excuse to invalidate the slime's strength, his massive ego vehemently refusing to accept the reality before him. The bastard boy had already humiliated him in the desert; Allen's psyche simply could not handle the idea that the boy's pet was now breathing down his neck.
It's from that wretched desert, he rationalized frantically, his blue eyes burning holes into the blue gel. The rules out there in the sand must be different. The strongest thing I killed out there was a Sand Lizard, and that thing was pathetic. This creature didn't fight its way through the deep floors of the Dungeon. Its 'Level 4' is probably just the desert equivalent of a Level 2 down here in the real Orario.
Yes. That had to be it. It was a fake Level 4. A technicality of the Falna.
A bloodthirsty, predatory smile slowly pulled at the corners of Allen's mouth as he convinced himself of his own lie. A path had finally opened. He couldn't outright murder Maximus yet without drawing Lady Freya's ire, but he could freely test the pet under the guise of an "initiation." He would crush this fake Level 4 into the dirt to ensure the blue-haired bastard didn't get cocky.
These weaklings need to be reminded of their place, Allen thought in pure, venomous delight. He would shatter the pet into a million pieces, and he would make the master watch.

Hogni
Amidst the swirling vortex of killing intent and fragile egos, Hogni stood perfectly still, experiencing a profound, quiet joy.
He was the only one in the room who actually understood. He had listened to Kairu's pantomime. He knew that the brave little slime had just marched into the 24th Floor and solo-killed a colossal Green Dragon. He knew the familiar possessed the spirit of a true warrior, constantly striving to climb the wall in front of him. He was slightly surprised that Max had left Kairu alone to do it, but he trusted his friend's judgment completely. Max had believed in the slime, and the slime had delivered.
But the undeniably best part of the evening was watching his fellow executives choke on the air.
He could feel the foul miasma of their envy and disbelief practically suffocating the room. Seeing the permanently arrogant Allen, the impossibly strict Hedin, and the fiercely proud Gullivers frozen in uncomprehending shock—their mouths practically hanging open, their minds desperately trying to rationalize the impossible—was a balm to his soul. It made them look exactly how Hogni usually felt in social situations. For one brief, beautiful, vindicating moment, Orario's most terrifying, judgmental warriors were the ones who couldn't muster the courage or the words to speak.
Hogni smiled warmly beneath his dark scarf. Let them seethe in their ignorance. He couldn't wait to see what Developmental Abilities Kairu had gained from the rank-up, and he eagerly anticipated sitting down with Max to figure out how best they could integrate the slime's new powers into their combat formations.

Freya
The moment her silver needle pierced her skin and the drop of divine ichor settled onto Kairu's back, the war room vanished from her immediate focus.
The world was replaced by the deep, aquatic blue light of the Falna. As she swept her perception through the accumulated Excelia, she was immediately surprised. A Level Up was available.
She sifted through the raw data of his recent feats. He had indeed killed the Green Dragons in the Large Tree Labyrinth. Yet, as she looked at his current status before formalizing the rank-up, she frowned slightly.

How curious, she mused, her mind analyzing the numbers with practiced precision.
The stat jump was abysmally low compared to the staggering leaps in Excelia Kairu usually gained when butchering beasts of that caliber. Killing four Green Dragons and surviving the Great Waterfall solo should have yielded far more stats.
Then, the realization dawned on her. She looked at the Familiar Bond skill.
Of course. His growth accelerated exponentially only when he fought alongside Maximus or acted in his direct defense. When the slime operated independently on his own, far from his master's aura, its Excelia gain normalized—or at least, dropped to something remotely resembling a standard adventurer's growth rate.
It was a fascinating limitation. It proved that the familiar wasn't simply an independent monster hoarding power; he was a symbiotic extension of its master's soul. His true, world-breaking potential was intrinsically locked to Max's presence.
With a graceful push of her will, Freya processed the update. The Falna flared beautifully in her mind's eye, burning away the old constraints and engraving the new truth of his existence onto his soul.

__
Freya's gaze lingered on the Magic section, a spark of dangerous excitement lighting up her silver eyes.
Ars Magna (Medium).
Maximus's unique magic was already a devastating anomaly; for the familiar's mirrored version to officially evolve from Lesser to Medium meant Kairu's raw destructive output had just taken a terrifying leap forward. A Level 4 monster with EX-tier base stats, armed with a chantless, medium-tier multi-functional magic. It was a clear testament to how closely his soul was tethered to his master's evolution.
But as her eyes tracked further down the list, her breath hitched slightly. She locked onto the new addition at the bottom of the Skill list.
Aqua Vitae.
She was truly taken aback. Skills were the rarest of manifestations, birthed only from intense, overwhelming emotional catalysts or deeply rooted, desperate desires. Yet, as she read through his accumulated Excelia, she hadn't felt the typical surge of despair, rage, or longing that usually preceded a Skill's formation.
Curious, she focused her perception solely on the new skill, attempting to discern its origin.
Instantly, her mind was flooded with a singular, overwhelming visual: the roaring, crushing torrents of the Great Waterfall on the 25th Floor. She saw Kairu plummeting through the heavy, freezing spray, surrounded by endless violence.
Freya blinked, gently pulling her perception back. She was deeply surprised she could see even that much. The origins and mechanics of Skills were mysterious by nature; the System of the Falna was strictly designed to obscure the intimate thoughts of mortals even from the Gods. For her to receive such a clear visual meant that whatever the slime had felt during that fall was incredibly dense—something transcending mere survival or excitement.
She analyzed the cryptic description. The water of origin. Bestows special properties to the user's water.
What properties? Origin usually implied life, purification, and mending. Freya's brilliant mind connected the dots with frightening speed. She thought back to the recent incident in her chambers—Max's rampant, crimson-black magic flaring out of control, and the crushing, devastating guilt that had suffocated him afterward.
Max's magic destroys everything, Freya realized, a soft, immensely fond smile touching her lips. So the familiar willed itself to become the cure. He wants to mend whatever his master breaks.
It was a heartbreakingly beautiful manifestation of loyalty. She made a mental note to discuss the mechanics of it at length with Max later.
Since she was already thoroughly accustomed to processing the absurd, world-breaking statuses of the master, the Goddess smoothly transitioned her focus to the familiar's Developmental Abilities.
A thrill of genuine elation washed over her. When Maximus had updated, his unique 'Class-up' system had wholly bypassed the traditional selection of Developmental Abilities, denying her the joy of guiding his path. Now, gazing at the list blooming within the slime's Falna, Freya finally got to play her proper role.
-◈ -
The options materialized in front of her:
Mage – Allows the user to access a magic circle which improves their magic's power, widens its effect range, and makes Mind usage efficient.
Mixing – Improves quality when creating items such as potions.
Treatment – Enhances the user's healing abilities and significantly increases the efficacy of restorative actions.
Alchemy – Allows the changing of shape of items, as well as bestowing effects on them.
Protection – The will to protect manifested. Enhances the host's capabilities as needed.
Duplication – Allows the user to split themselves. Quantity scales with Level. Duplications will be significantly weaker than the user.
-◈ -
Freya's eyes immediately narrowed, locking entirely onto the final two options.
Protection and Duplication.
The first four were standard, albeit highly synergistic with the slime's aquatic nature and its new Skill. But the final two were veritable goldmines.
Protection was a direct, localized manifestation of the familiar's unwavering devotion to Max. If chosen, it would likely synergize flawlessly with his Familiar Bond, turning the slime into an impenetrable, scaling aegis whenever Max's life was threatened. It was a beautiful, steadfast ability.
But Duplication... her tactical mind spun with the terrifying, sweeping implications. A slime that could actively divide its mass. At Level 4, he could make 4 duplicates and with his EX-tier base stats acting as the foundation, even "significantly weaker" clones would possess the physical strength of a Level 2 or 3 adventurer.
It meant multi-directional, autonomous shielding for Max. It meant a networked, hive-mind intelligence gathering system that could infiltrate anywhere in Orario. Most terrifyingly, it meant overwhelming an enemy with sheer numbers, an entire swarm of slimes, all armed with an instant-cast Ars Magna (Medium).
It was a fascinating, world-altering choice.
Freya smiled as she channeled her intent on a crisp parchment. The ink flowed gracefully across the page, transcribing the updated status and the list of Developmental Abilities.
For a fleeting moment, her fingers brushed against the communication necklace resting at her collarbone. She considered contacting Maximus, or perhaps having the parchment sent down to him so the master could dictate the familiar's path. But she quickly dismissed the thought. It had been glaringly evident during their interactions just how complete the trust between them was. Max had allowed the slime to hunt Boss-class monsters and plunge down the Great Waterfall entirely solo. To intervene now and force Max to make this decision would be a grave insult to the autonomy he had so freely granted his companion.
No. She would let the familiar process the magic woven into the words and choose his own destiny.
She gracefully withdrew her needle. The light faded from the war room, returning the oppressive, tension-filled atmosphere of her furious executives.
Freya did not speak immediately. Instead, she let the silence hang, her eyes sweeping across the room. She took in the sight of her elite vanguard. She saw Allen's violently thrashing tail and ragged breathing. She saw the Gulliver Brothers actively restraining Alfrigg from committing murder. She saw Hedin's white-knuckled grip on his staff, and Ottar's quiet, resigned vigilance.
They were the strongest souls in the mortal realm, yet they were so impossibly fragile when their pride was threatened. Maximus's mere existence had already fractured their hierarchy; elevating his familiar would undoubtedly shatter it entirely.
Freya's smile deepened into something truly wicked. If her children needed a crucible to force them to grow, she would gladly provide the fire. Her plan was finalized in an instant.
-◈ -
Kairu
While the mean guys in the room were quietly boiling with angry energy, Kairu focused intently on the crisp parchment the Lady had slid across the table.
He absorbed the glowing words, letting his logic process the shiny new options.
The first one was Mage. Kairu jiggled in dismissal. Master hadn't picked that one when it was available last time. If Master didn't want it, Kairu definitely didn't want it.
The next two, Mixing and Treatment, were new. But they felt useless to him. With his brand-new Aqua Vitae skill, he could already make the best, most soothing water in the whole Dungeon! He didn't need a special ability to mix potions when he basically was the potion.
The fourth one, Alchemy, got an instant rejection.
That left the last two: Protection and Duplication.
Kairu wobbled thoughtfully. Duplication sounded incredibly fun. Making a whole bouncy army of himself to help Master fight sounded amazing, and he knew it would be super useful. But then he looked closely at Protection.
The will to protect manifested. Enhances the host's capabilities as needed.
He re-read the vague description. To anyone else, it might have sounded boring compared to making duplicates. But Kairu felt a deep, hidden potential humming beneath those words. It resonated perfectly with his new, overwhelming desire: to protect the Master from his own scary, self-destructive power. Besides, the description felt a whole lot like Master's weird Fortune ability—something that bent the rules exactly when they needed bending most.
Kairu pulsed brightly, nodding his featureless head. Yes. That's the one.
With fierce determination, he slid the parchment back toward the Lady and tapped a blue pseudopod firmly on Protection.
Freya blinked, her elegant eyebrows rising. She looked utterly stunned that he had chosen the defensive shield over the tactical army of clones. Kairu gave a very smug, triumphant jiggle. He had surprised a Goddess!
Ki! he chirped proudly.
Freya let out a soft, breathy chuckle. Without delay, she channeled her intent, processing his chosen Developmental Ability. She manifested a fresh piece of parchment and gracefully etched his finalized, official status onto it.
While she worked, Kairu sneakily stretched out a pseudopod and slurped up the first parchment with the DA options, dropping it directly into his Storage. He was definitely going to spit that out later to show Master how many cool choices he had earned all by himself.
Once the final status was copied, Freya sealed his Falna. The soothing, divine connection closed, fully returning the heavy, stifling pressure of the angry room.
The Lady handed over his new status parchment. As she did, she shot him a brief, highly amused smirk before turning her eyes back toward the mean guys standing around the table.
Kairu recognized that look immediately. It was the exact same mischievous, slightly crazy look Master got right before he 'healed' himself by blowing things up with his red-black magic. The Lady was about to drop a devastating bomb on these grumpy people.
Kairu happily tucked his new status sheet into his gel and settled in, jiggling in eager anticipation. He didn't have much else to do until Master called him back, and watching the mean guys get squished by words sounded like great entertainment.

General Pov
Once Kairu had tucked his newly updated status into his mass, Freya deliberately smoothed out the wrinkles in her dress and cleared her throat. The soft, melodic sound was barely louder than a whisper, yet it instantly snapped the volatile, murderous tension in the room directly onto her.
Every single pair of eyes locked onto their Goddess. They were waiting for her to dismiss the creature. They were waiting for her to reaffirm the natural order of their world.
Instead, Freya leaned forward, resting her chin on her steepled fingers. She did not even attempt to hide the radiant, dangerous ecstasy blooming in her eyes.
"As you are all well aware," Freya began, her voice ringing with casual, divine authority, "Level Four is the sacred threshold to be recognized as an Executive within our Familia. It is the dividing line between the followers and the vanguard."
The silence in the room instantly turned violent. The air grew so dense it felt as though the atmospheric pressure had literally doubled.
"Kairu has not only reached that threshold in record time," she continued smoothly, ignoring the suffocating bloodlust radiating from her strongest warriors, "but he has done so through truly extraordinary feats. Feats that firmly cement his unquestionable superiority over the common masses."
She did not elaborate on what those feats were. She let their imaginations—and their insecurities—fill in the terrifying blanks of how a slime had allegedly outpaced their life's work.
"Therefore," Freya declared, her voice echoing off the reinforced stone walls, "I am elevating him. I propose that Kairu be officially made our newest Executive."
The announcement tore through the stunned shock of the room like a physical blade.
Ottar's eyes widened a fraction of a centimeter. Allen's mouth snapped shut, a strangled, choking sound dying in his throat. The Gulliver Brothers stood rigidly frozen, their worst, most paranoid nightmare manifesting into reality before their very eyes. Hedin's pristine composure cracked, his jaw visibly tightening as his brilliant mind completely short-circuited trying to process the bureaucratic legality of a gelatinous puddle holding equal rank to him.
Hogni, standing quietly at the edge of the room, pressed his collar against his mouth. His dark shoulders were trembling. He was silently losing his composure behind his cloak. This was the single greatest moment of his adult life.
Yet, despite the overwhelming, catastrophic horror sweeping through her vanguard, not a single word of protest was uttered. They were too bound by their fanatical devotion to dare interrupt her decree.
Freya scanned the room, her eyes gleaming with predatory delight as she took in their reactions, daring anyone to object. None did.
Internally, she was practically vibrating with wicked glee. She was sure that Max would vehemently object to this ridiculous proposal. He hated politics and administrative burdens more than anything. This was her flawless, petty revenge for his stubborn refusal to accept her proposal to make him an executive. She knew Max's reaction to this news would be legendary, and she would pay many millions to watch it.
Finding no objections from her paralyzed elite, Freya turned her attention back to the blue blob sitting on the mahogany table.
"Kairu," she called softly.
The slime bounced slightly, looking up at her with his featureless front.
"Are you willing to accept the mantle of an Executive?" she asked, gesturing gracefully toward the terrifying, murderous warriors surrounding the table. "To stand as their equal?"
Kairu gave a happy, unbothered jiggle, absolutely immune to the killing intent flooding the room. Freya had no idea how much of her political maneuvering he actually understood, but his bright, affirmative pulse was all the legal consent she required. He had 'agreed.'
Freya nodded in deep satisfaction. "Very well. It is decided."
She stood up, her aura flaring with finalized authority.
"Kairu," she declared, "you shall be the newest Executive. Your primary purview will be the full oversight, maintenance, and resource management of the Rivira Outpost's teleportation network."
Crack.
The sound of the table in front of Hedin fracturing under his white-knuckled grip finally broke the breathless silence of the room.
From the corner, a single, barely audible sound escaped from beneath Hogni's collar. It was quiet, undignified, and unlike anything anyone in the room had ever heard from the stoic Dark Elf before.
He was laughing.

AN:
Who expected that, huh? Freya has finally decided to light more fire under the Executives collective assess, haha. Especially the Gullivers and Allen. How do you think they would react?
Kairu obviously doesn't care what the mean guys think. Though I wouldn't think Max would be too thrilled when he heard about this as Freya indirectly gave the control of teleportation back to Kairu. What a timing, right? Poor Hedin though...
In the next chapter we will see the consequences of this and a possible time skip as things finally pick up pace.
What do you think about Kairu's status sheet? Any ideas what's happening??
