Chapter 324 - Chapter 370 Major Changes in OAA

Chapter 370 Major Changes in OAA

The first special exam for the second-year students concluded, leading to a comprehensive update of the OAA (Over-All Ability) system.

Hikigaya checked his own data:

[Hikigaya Hachiman, 2nd Year Class D]

Academic Ability: B+ (78) Physical Ability: A (88) Adaptability: C+ (60) Social Contribution: B- (64) Overall Score: B (73)

Compared to when he first enrolled, Hikigaya's stats had seen a total across-the-board improvement.

The academic boost primarily came from fixing his deficiencies in Mathematics, jumping from the bottom to the upper-middle tier. His physical ability score was high thanks to his participation in the Martial Arts Club and the sports festival. His adaptability improvement was limited, largely due to his poor interpersonal relationships. As for social contribution, being the Discipline Committee Chairman was a definite plus, but his friction with the Student Council President suppressed the score to some extent.

Hikigaya then scrolled through Ayanokouji Kiyotaka's OAA data:

[Ayanokouji Kiyotaka, 2nd Year Class D]

Academic Ability: A+ (96) Physical Ability: B+ (80) Adaptability: D+ (40) Social Contribution: C (55) Overall Score: B (69)

In terms of academic ability, Ayanokouji was truly no longer pretending. An A+ rating ranked him first in academic ability for the entire second year! He had also stopped holding back in PE classes, though he lacked the bonus points from club activities. His adaptability remained "street-tier" due to his lack of social connections. His social contribution mostly reflected his specific contributions to the class.

Most students saw their OAA data rise to varying degrees.

Horikita Suzune's adaptability rose from D to C+; her interpersonal skills had improved, meaning she was no longer a "solo player." Her social contribution jumped from E to B- due to her tutoring sessions and leading the class through exams. Karuizawa Kei's academic ability rose from D- to C-. Sato Maya rose from D to C. Hasabe Haruka rose from D to C. All three successfully shed their "academic failure" labels.

Surprisingly, Sudo Ken's academic ability rose from E to C, marking a massive improvement within the class!

However, where there is growth, there is also decline.

Hirata Yousuke's adaptability dropped from B+ to B, and his social contribution fell from A- to B—the negative side effects of his "darkening." However, in Hikigaya's eyes, while Hirata's panel data dropped, his true utility had likely increased. The "nice guy" version of Hirata would only try to smooth things over; the "dark" version would use force to solve problems, which was generally more useful.

As for the likes of Okitani and Hondo, they were already academic failures; now they had dropped from D to D-, becoming the failures among failures! They only avoided expulsion in this special exam because of the help from first-year honor students. They were essentially on the "expulsion reserve list," yet they had no self-awareness whatsoever. They were still celebrating passing the exam, discussing how they would spend the May Day holiday playing the game consoles they planned to buy. Such people were beyond saving and not worth the effort.

Late April.

Hikigaya's workload in the Student Council increased significantly. His task: review surveillance footage and calculate behavior point deductions for the first-years. It was too much for one person, so he decisively recruited Horikita Suzune, Kamuro Masumi, and Ibuki Mio as helpers.

"I see, so this is how our behavioral conduct was scored when we first enrolled," Horikita said with a subtle expression. As a participant, she remembered Class D getting a flat zero back then!

"Hachiman, I really owe you for back then," Kamuro Masumi noted, referring to when her shoplifting impulse flared up and Hikigaya stopped her. Otherwise, Class A would have faced a massive deduction!

"Seems like spending one million points to buy intel wasn't a loss after all," Ibuki Mio nodded with a look of relief. Back then, Class C was treating school like a fighting game; if they hadn't

known about the deduction mechanism in advance, their first month's points would have been hundreds lower.

"Alright, everyone, let's start nitpicking," Hikigaya said, sipping black tea and signaling them to start working.

"Why are you so relaxed?"

"Because I am the Discipline Committee Chairman. I'm responsible for commanding your work."

"Tch~"

"Alright, alright. I'll treat you all to a meal after we're finished."

Though the three girls were dissatisfied, they settled down to work under Hikigaya's practiced coaxing. By the end of the afternoon, they had checked all the footage and finished the deduction statistics. The efficiency was higher than expected. It turns out that when people are looking for faults in others, they tend to be highly motivated!

First-Year Class Point Statistics:

Class A: 1125 points Class B: 1010 points Class C: 730 points Class D: 190 points

Classes A and B were self-disciplined honor students. Class C's behavioral score was fine; their deductions came from the special exam. Apparently, one student was expelled for violating exam rules. Class C leader Utomiya Riku appealed to the Student Council, claiming the student was coerced by Housen Kazuomi, but the appeal failed due to lack of evidence.

Class D's biggest source of deductions was Housen Kazuomi. Specifically, his incident of actively provoking the second-years was caught red-handed by Hikigaya, who slapped him with a massive penalty!

"That guy Housen is just a carbon copy of Ryuen," Ibuki Mio complained loudly. "No, he's even worse than Ryuen!"

Ryuen Kakeru was a violent thug, but at least he listened to reason. Once he learned the mechanism for behavioral deductions, he immediately stopped his blatant behavior—or rather, he at least learned to avoid the cameras before starting a fight.

"On that point, we in Class D have no right to complain," Horikita Suzune shook her head helplessly, recalling how their class points were wiped to zero in their first month.

"Nanase Tsubasa... this person saved Class D's points," Kamuro Masumi noted, capturing several clips from the surveillance. They showed Nanase Tsubasa stepping in multiple times to stop her classmates from violating school rules.

"Huh~ this kouhai has some decent moves," Ibuki Mio said, a spark of interest in her eyes. Moral lecturing alone can't persuade everyone. In the footage, a male student from Class D kicked over a trash can in the hallway and was caught on the spot by Nanase. When the boy tried to get physical out of embarrassment and anger, Nanase knocked him to the ground with a single punch.

[Nanase Tsubasa, 1st Year Class D]

Academic Ability: B+ (80) Physical Ability: B+ (80) Adaptability: B (72) Social Contribution: B- (65) Overall Score: B+ (76)

"Nanase Tsubasa's OAA score is very high," someone noted. "With these values, she'd be a top performer even in Class A. Why was she placed in Class D?"

The group was puzzled.

"Is that so strange?" Hikigaya countered. "Hirata's OAA values are quite high, yet he was put in Class D."

"..." Horikita Suzune's eyes stilled. "Hachiman, are you suggesting that this Nanase-san has some sort of hidden defect?"

Hirata Yousuke's past involved him single-handedly terrorizing an entire school. With such a massive dark history, being placed in Class D was understandable.

"Well... let's not pry into other people's secrets." Hikigaya proactively ended the topic. Based on what he knew, Nanase Tsubasa had a grudge against Ayanokouji Kiyotaka. That alone was enough to prove this girl was not simple.

May 1st, International Workers' Day.

It was a holiday and also the day personal points were distributed. All the students were happy. Hikigaya, however, was unhappy. Because the Student Council doesn't take holidays.

Nagumo Miyabi, that bastard, truly loved making extra work out of nothing. He claimed he wanted to conduct a comprehensive inspection of all club departments in the school. Since this concerned Student Council budget allocations, the various clubs were suddenly thrown into a state of panic.

The Student Council secretary, Mizuhara Yue, was one of Nagumo Miyabi's underground lovers. Fearing she wouldn't be able to handle the workload alone, Nagumo ordered other members of the council to assist her for free—including the Discipline Committee's Hikigaya.

Hikigaya was already busy enough managing discipline and had every reason to refuse this extra task. However, considering his own Martial Arts Club might be targeted by the Student Council, he had to compromise. Fortunately, with Horikita and the other two in the Discipline Committee, things wouldn't grind to a halt.

"Hikigaya-kun, thank you for your assistance. Miyabi said with you leading the way, we don't have to worry about club members causing trouble," Mizuhara Yue said with a kind smile.

Hikigaya didn't know much about this colleague. He only knew she was a third-year student from Class B. Her academics and athletics weren't particularly outstanding, but she was exceptionally skilled at interpersonal relationships and had a good reputation in every class. She was beautiful and had a somewhat spicy figure. No wonder Nagumo Miyabi took an interest in her.

"Mizuhara-senpai, you overpraise me. President Nagumo is the one; if he showed up, which club would dare defy him?" Hikigaya tried to redirect her attention back to the President.

"That's true, but Miyabi is very busy."

"Heh~ busy dating other senpais, I presume?"

"Yes, that's right."

"..." Mizuhara Yue's nonchalant reaction left Hikigaya speechless for a moment. "Um... Mizuhara-senpai, aren't you dating President Nagumo?"

"I am," Mizuhara Yue nodded, then explained: "Miyabi promised me that upon graduation, he would pay the points to help me transfer to Class A."

'I see, so it really is a pragmatic transaction.'

Trading a romantic relationship for a guaranteed spot in a prestigious university. For most high school girls, this wasn't an irrational choice.

"Oh~ Hikigaya-kun, don't misunderstand. I'm not that kind of easy girl. My romantic partner, at the very least, has to be handsome."
