Chapter 38 - S3 - Ep14: He's..My Brother

The battle Field: at Blackridge

The white clouds slowly began to gather above the schoolyard, spreading across the sky and blocking out the warm sunlight that had been shining over the area.

The atmosphere gradually grew darker.

A faint crimson smoke rose from Gary's right eye before dissolving into the air.

His gaze remained fixed on Jin.

Jin stood several feet away, completely still. He wasn't showing any particular emotion. His face was as blank as ever, making it impossible to tell what was going through his mind.

Gary slowly began walking toward him.

David, John, and the four A Rank officers remained in the distance, watching the two of them carefully.

A small amount of blood continued to drip from Gary's body.

He didn't seem to care.

His eyes were fixed entirely on Jin.

Gary suddenly accelerated.

His fist shot toward Jin's face, but Jin moved at the last moment and raised his forearm to block the attack.

THUD!

The impact made Jin's arm shift slightly.

Gary's hand trembled from the force he was putting behind his attacks. He immediately pulled his fist back and swung again.

"WHY?!"

Jin blocked.

"Why did you?!"

Gary attacked again.

Jin moved his head to avoid the punch before raising his arm to defend against another strike.

"WHY?!"

Gary continued attacking.

Jin kept retreating, barely avoiding each attack while blocking the ones he couldn't escape.

He still hadn't attacked Gary even once.

He simply listened.

Gary's breathing became rougher as his frustration continued to grow.

"Why don't you tell me?!"

His fist came toward Jin again.

Jin blocked it.

"Why did you do that?!"

Another punch.

Another block.

Gary's eyes became increasingly desperate.

"WHY?!"

Jin's expression remained unchanged.

Gary screamed at the top of his lungs.

"WHYYYYYY?!"

The world around him seemed to disappear.

And his memories pulled him back into the past.

---

Six Years Ago

Jin was walking toward the cafeteria with a tray of food in his hands.

He had barely taken a few steps when—

A foot suddenly struck the tray.

The food fell onto the floor, and the tray slid several feet away across the tiles.

Jin stopped.

He looked at the tray.

Then he slowly looked back at the person standing in front of him.

Red.

Victor and Freddie stood beside him.

Red wore a grin as he looked at Jin.

"What are you doing?"

He tilted his head.

"You're not eating anything. Go back."

Jin stared at him for a moment.

He didn't argue.

That simply wasn't the kind of person he was.

Without saying anything, Jin turned around and walked away, leaving his food scattered across the cafeteria floor.

Red watched him leave.

His grin slowly faded into a smirk.

"It's not over, is it?"

And it wasn't.

From that day onward, Red constantly found ways to annoy Jin.

Whenever he saw him, he wouldn't let him simply walk away.

Sometimes Red would rip apart Jin's notebook.

Other times, he would push him around in the hallways or throw his bag out of a classroom window.

If Jin was carrying food, Red would kick it away.

Jin never fought back.

He simply continued going about his life as though none of it mattered.

Eventually, even Victor and Freddie began to wonder why Red was so obsessed with bothering him.

One afternoon, the three of them were sitting behind the school building on the old tires they often used as seats.

Freddie looked toward Red.

"By the way, Red..."

Red glanced at him.

"I thought you didn't care about the elementary kids. So why do you keep messing with Jin?"

Victor immediately looked at Red as well.

"Is it because of that day?"

Red remained quiet for a moment.

He thought about it.

Then he shrugged.

"Yeah, probably."

He leaned back against the tire.

"He was the only one who refused to listen to me that day. He made us look like we were nothing."

Red's expression became slightly irritated.

"That kid doesn't care about anything. He doesn't care about what's happening around him or who he's talking to."

Victor nodded.

"So because he refused to listen to us and embarrassed us in front of Gary's class?"

"Yeah, exactly."

Red leaned forward.

"I'll keep annoying that kid until he finally understands how to respect his seniors."

Freddie laughed.

"That's great. Hopefully that kid learns eventually."

Red chuckled.

He took another drag from his cigarette before tossing it aside.

"Yeah."

---

A few days later, Gary was walking through the streets with Red.

Gary happily chewed on the bubblegum Red had bought for him.

Red glanced down at him.

"Do you like the taste?"

Gary nodded.

"Yeah, I do."

The two continued walking until another boy suddenly passed by.

He accidentally bumped into Gary, causing the younger boy to stumble and fall toward the side of the road.

Red immediately reached out and caught Gary before he hit the ground.

His expression changed.

He turned toward the boy who had bumped into him.

"Hey!"

The boy stopped and looked back.

Red narrowed his eyes.

"Watch where you're going. And you should apologize."

The boy had blonde hair and wore the clean uniform of Ironfall Academy—a white shirt with a red tie beneath a blue overcoat.

He looked at Red with an unimpressed expression.

"What?"

He glanced at Gary.

"You should be the one walking with your eyes open."

Red's eyes narrowed further.

He looked at the boy's uniform.

"That uniform..."

"You're from Ironfall Academy?"

The boy shrugged.

"Yeah. So what?"

He looked Red up and down.

"You look like you're from Nameless."

He scoffed.

"Pft. No wonder your temper is always so high."

Red's expression darkened.

"What did you say?"

He pointed toward Gary.

"Apologize to the kid. Right now."

Gary grabbed Red's sleeve and moved behind him.

The boy looked directly at Red.

"I don't want to apologize to some Nameless student."

Red clenched his fist.

He gently pushed Gary a little farther behind him.

"Alright."

Red's eyes narrowed.

"I'll teach you a lesson, then."

He suddenly swung his fist toward the boy's face.

The Ironfall student smirked and leaned backward, narrowly avoiding the punch.

Red's eyes widened.

"What?"

The boy immediately countered.

His leg shot upward in a powerful kick that struck Red directly in the jaw.

THUD!

Red staggered backward, barely managing to stay on his feet.

He grabbed his jaw.

The boy smirked.

"That's sad."

He adjusted his uniform.

"Did you actually think Ironfall students were pushovers?"

Red gritted his teeth.

He stepped forward again.

"I was just surprised."

Red launched a high kick.

The boy raised his arm and blocked it.

His expression changed slightly.

"Wait..."

He looked at Red with genuine surprise.

"You're strong."

Red lowered his leg.

"You should know who I am, then."

The boy blinked.

"Am I supposed to?"

He casually brushed the dust from his arm.

Red frowned.

"I'm Red."

"The strongest B Rank in Nameless School."

The boy's eyes widened.

"Wait..."

"You're Red?"

Red smirked.

The boy adjusted his clothes and smiled.

"Then I guess I'll show you why that title is false."

He raised his fists.

"I'm also a B Rank, you know."

Red's expression became excited.

"Fine."

The two immediately clashed.

Their fists collided as they exchanged attacks, each one dodging, blocking, and countering the other's movements.

Gary stood several feet away, watching the fight with wide eyes.

For the moment, Red seemed to have the upper hand.

Gary quietly raised his fist.

"Go, Red..."

"Win this!"

Red suddenly landed a clean punch against the Ironfall student's face.

Blood immediately began dripping from his nose.

Both fighters stepped back and wiped the blood from their faces.

Red smiled.

"I admit it."

"You're no joke."

The boy nodded.

"Yeah, same."

He looked at Red.

"I don't think I can win this fight."

Red raised an eyebrow.

Then the boy grinned.

"Only if it's just me."

Red's expression changed.

"What?"

Suddenly—two figures appeared behind Red.

Before he could turn around, both attacked at once.

Their kicks struck him and sent him flying several feet away.

Red crashed into a nearby wall.

CRACK!

The impact caused several cracks to spread across the surface.

Red slowly opened his eyes.

"What the hell?!"

The two newcomers stood beside the Ironfall student.

One had brown hair.

The other had red hair.

The brown-haired boy immediately looked toward the Ironfall student.

"Ryan, are you alright?"

The red-haired boy looked at Red.

"Is this the guy you were talking about?"

Gary watched from behind Red.

"What?"

His eyes widened.

"How did they...?"

Red stared at Ryan.

"You bastard!"

He pushed himself away from the wall.

"You called your friends for me?!"

Ryan wiped the blood from beneath his nose.

"Yeah."

He pointed toward the two newcomers.

"Be careful, though. They're C Ranks, but they're strong enough to put up a fight against me."

He grinned.

"So it wouldn't be wrong to say they're almost on my level."

Red cracked his neck.

"I don't give a damn."

His eyes narrowed.

"You're scared to fight fairly, huh?"

Red stood up fully.

He glanced toward Gary.

For a moment, his expression became serious.

Should I tell Gary to leave?

I'm not sure if I can win this.

Before Red could make a decision, Ethan suddenly charged forward.

The brown-haired boy threw a powerful punch toward Red.

Red leaned to the side.

The punch missed him completely and struck the wall behind him.

Red immediately grabbed Ethan by the collar.

"Got you."

He swung him around and slammed him against the wall.

CRASH!

The bricks shattered from the impact and fell onto the ground.

Red stared at the destruction.

"This is crazy..."

He turned around.

Brandon was already there.

The red-haired boy delivered a powerful kick directly toward Red's face.

Red barely managed to react.

Before he could recover, Ryan attacked as well.

His kick slammed into Red's ribs.

The impact struck directly against his liver, sending pain throughout his entire body.

Red staggered.

"Shit..."

Blood began dripping from his nose and mouth.

He wiped it away.

I can't lose.

His eyes moved toward Gary.

He's watching.

I have to keep fighting.

Ryan and Brandon continued attacking.

Red blocked one strike, but another hit his body.

Then another.

The blood continued to flow.

Gary could no longer watch.

"STOPPPPP!"

His scream echoed through the street.

All three Ironfall students stopped.

Ryan turned toward him.

"Oh."

He looked surprised.

"You're still here."

A cruel grin appeared on his face.

"Hey, Red..."

"You won't mind if we shut the kid up too, right?"

Red's expression immediately changed.

"D-Don't you dare."

His voice became strained.

"Lay a finger on him."

Ryan laughed.

"Aww..."

"Do we care?"

He looked toward Ethan.

"Hey, Ethan."

"Go get him."

Ethan began walking toward Gary.

Gary froze.

His eyes widened as Ethan steadily closed the distance between them.

Red struggled against Brandon's grip.

"No..."

He gritted his teeth.

"I have to stop you."

"You can't hurt him."

Ryan looked at Red.

"What is he to you, huh?"

He laughed.

"Stop caring about kids when I heard you're nothing but a bully."

Ethan finally reached Gary.

He grabbed the boy's face.

Gary trembled.

He immediately grabbed Ethan's wrist, desperately trying to stop him from squeezing harder.

Tears began forming in his eyes.

Ethan leaned closer.

"I'll break your teeth so you never scream again."

Red's expression changed completely.

"Stop it..."

His voice was barely audible.

"You bastard."

Red suddenly moved.

He grabbed Brandon from behind, lifted him off the ground, and threw him toward Ryan.

Ryan quickly jumped aside.

Brandon crashed into the ground.

Ryan stared at Red.

"The hell?"

"How did you—?"

Red didn't let him finish.

He immediately charged toward Ethan.

Ethan released Gary and turned around, but Red was already in front of him.

Red grabbed him by the neck.

Then he slammed him into the ground.

BOOM!

Gary stared in shock.

Something had changed.

Red slowly raised his head.

His right eye began glowing crimson.

Gary's eyes widened.

"What...?"

"Is that...?"

Ryan stared at Red.

"What is that?"

His expression changed.

"What happened to your eye?"

Red didn't answer.

He charged toward Ryan.

His leg shot forward.

Ryan raised his arms and blocked the kick.

"Is this your full power?"

He smiled.

Red's fist immediately followed.

Ryan blocked again.

But this time—

The force behind the punch shattered his defense.

Ryan's eyes widened.

Huh?

Is he actually stronger now?

So this is his full strength?

Red struck again.

His fist slammed into Ryan's face.

Ryan crashed heavily onto the ground.

He didn't move.

He was unconscious.

Brandon suddenly attacked Red from behind.

Red turned around.

His leg swung out.

The kick sent Brandon flying several meters away.

The crimson glow in Red's eye slowly faded.

His iris returned to normal.

Gary immediately ran toward him.

"What was that?!"

Red looked at him.

"Oh, what?"

He suddenly seemed more concerned about Gary than himself.

"Are you okay?"

He immediately got down on his knees.

"Let me see your teeth."

Gary grabbed Red's hands.

"Hey, I'm okay."

"Really."

Red continued looking over his face.

He carefully checked him.

"Looks fine."

Gary nodded.

"Yeah."

Then his gaze shifted toward Ryan.

He slowly stood up.

Gary walked over to him.

Ryan was still unconscious.

Gary looked down at him.

"You asked what I am to Red, right?"

Ryan didn't respond.

Gary turned his head toward Red.

Then he looked back at Ryan.

"He's my..."

Gary paused.

"...big brother."

---

The memory disappeared.

Gary was suddenly back in the present.

His attack continued.

Jin stepped forward and drove his knee into Gary's stomach.

THUD!

Gary's body bent forward.

Blood escaped from his mouth.

"T-Tell me..."

His voice trembled.

"Why?"

Gary forced himself upright.

His fist struck Jin.

The impact made Jin's head turn slightly.

Gary attacked again.

Then again.

And again.

His fists continued striking Jin as his voice became increasingly desperate.

"Why?"

Another punch.

"Why?"

Another.

"WHY AREN'T YOU ANSWERING ME?!"

A tear formed in the corner of Gary's left eye.

"Why...?"

---

Six Years Ago

Jin sat quietly in his classroom, writing in his notebook while the other students continued with their own work.

Gary sat toward the back of the room.

Jin was seated near the front, directly in the middle.

The classroom door suddenly slid open.

Red entered.

Victor and Freddie followed behind him.

Red immediately grabbed an empty chair and placed it beside Jin.

He sat down.

"How long are you going to act tough?"

Jin continued writing.

Red glanced down at his notebook.

There was nothing special written inside.

Just ordinary homework.

Red's expression became irritated.

He slammed one hand onto Jin's desk.

BANG!

"I'm talking to you, kid."

"Answer me."

Victor and Freddie stood near the doorway.

Jin's hand paused for a moment.

Then he continued writing.

Red stared at him.

"I see."

He leaned back.

"I think I've finally figured something out."

Jin continued writing.

Red's expression slowly became more serious.

His face grew colder.

"I understand why you're like this."

Jin's hand stopped.

Red stared at him.

"Because you never had anyone to teach you manners, huh?"

Jin didn't look up.

His face remained calm.

Red waited.

"What?"

"Not going to talk even now?"

Jin finally spoke.

His voice was low.

"Do whatever you want."

"Then leave."

"Like you always do."

Red's smile disappeared.

Even after everything he had said and done, Jin still refused to give him the reaction he wanted.

Red leaned closer.

"Yeah, sure."

"Must be hard, though."

"Not having anyone to teach you anything."

He paused.

"No parents."

Jin's fingers tightened slightly around his pen.

Red noticed.

"Only if you had someone..."

"You wouldn't be such a nuisance right now."

Jin gripped the pen harder.

But he still didn't respond.

Red continued.

"Kid..."

"You act like you don't need anyone."

"But if you actually had someone..."

"You'd cling to them like a dog."

The students around them had stopped working.

Everyone was quietly watching.

Victor and Freddie stood near the doorway, both smirking.

Gary remained silently seated at the back of the classroom.

Red's voice became even more cruel.

"Too bad there's no one waiting for a scum like you."

He smiled.

"No wonder even your parents left you."

The moment those words left his mouth—

Jin stood up.

Red's eyes widened.

Jin's expression had changed.

His face was still mostly blank, but the anger behind his eyes was unmistakable.

He grabbed Red by the collar.

Then he punched him.

Again.. And again.

Red's chair broke beneath him as Jin continued attacking.

The entire classroom erupted into panic.

Students immediately stood up and moved toward the corners of the room.

Gary froze.

He hurriedly moved behind the classroom door, staring at what was happening.

Jin's right eye began glowing blue.

Red tried to fight back.

But he couldn't.

Jin's attacks had completely overwhelmed him.

The punches kept coming.

Red couldn't stop them.

Gary watched in horror as Jin continued beating him.

Blood began staining Red's clothes.

Gary couldn't understand what he was seeing.

Red...

Why isn't he getting back up?

Why isn't anyone stopping Jin?

Jin continued attacking.

---

Present

Gary wiped the tears from his face with the back of his hand before forcing himself to move again.

He charged toward Jin.

His mind was filled with questions that had remained unanswered for six years.

What did Red do wrong?

Why did Jin have to go that far?

Why did he kill him?

"Why...?"

Gary's fist struck Jin.

"Why would you do something like that?!"

Another punch.

Jin didn't block it.

Gary's fist slammed into his face.

Jin's head turned slightly from the impact, but he didn't retaliate.

Gary froze for only a moment before throwing another punch.

This time, Jin didn't even move.

He simply stood there and took it.

Gary's fists continued to strike him.

Again.

And again.

Jin allowed every attack to land.

He wasn't trying to defend himself anymore.

He was letting Gary release all the anger he had carried inside for six years.

Gary's eyes filled with tears as his attacks became increasingly desperate.

"Why aren't you answering me?!"

His fist struck Jin's face.

"Why?!"

Another punch.

"Why did you kill him?!"

Gary's voice cracked.

"WHY?!"

Jin finally spoke.

"Gary."

Gary raised his fist again.

"If you're going to kill me..."

Jin looked directly at him.

"You should do it with everything you've got."

Gary's fist stopped in midair.

He gritted his teeth.

"Shut up..."

His breathing became heavier.

"I am giving it my all!"

Jin stared at him.

"No."

Gary's eyes widened.

"You're not."

Jin's voice remained calm.

"You're not in a state where you can give it your all."

Gary's expression changed.

"What...?"

He suddenly felt something strange.

His body was beginning to feel heavier.

His strength was fading.

His legs trembled beneath him.

"What's wrong with me...?"

Gary slowly lowered his hands.

"Why is my body... giving up?"

He stumbled backward.

His hand instinctively moved toward his lower back.

The moment his fingers touched the area, he felt something warm.

Gary looked down.

Blood.

His eyes widened.

"What...?"

He stared at the blood coating his hand.

For a moment, he couldn't understand it.

Then his eyes slowly moved toward the four A Rank officers standing in the distance.

One of them.

The same officer who had shot him twice when his Awakening first appeared.

Gary's breathing became unsteady.

"I..."

His voice trembled.

"I was shot..."

The realization finally hit him.

"Back then..."

He looked at the blood on his hand.

"I was shot twice..."

Gary's eyes widened further.

"And I've been fighting like this the entire time?"

He hadn't noticed.

Not even once.

His anger had completely consumed him.

His hatred for Jin had been so overwhelming that he had ignored everything else—even the wounds that were slowly weakening his body.

Gary clenched his fists.

"No..."

He looked back at Jin.

"I can still..."

His legs suddenly gave out.

Gary dropped to his knees.

His body refused to move.

He tried to force himself back up, but his strength was gone.

Blood escaped from the corner of his mouth.

"Jin..."

Gary looked up at him.

"I..."

His voice became weaker.

"I will..."

He couldn't finish the sentence.

Gary finally collapsed onto the ground, his body exhausted from the fight.

He stared upward at the darkening sky.

Jin stood nearby, looking at the clouds.

Gary's vision began to blur.

His thoughts drifted once again.

Back to that day.

Back to Red.

Back to the moment everything had changed.

---

Red watched Jin, getting beaten up by him..

Anothr memory strucked Red's mind.

One day:

"Hey, Red."

Red looked at Gary.

"Yeah?"

Gary: "I want to ask something."

"Sure."

"What is it?"

Gary hesitated.

"I just..."

He looked nervous.

"Can you please stop bothering Jin?"

Red stared at him in surprise.

"What?"

"Why?"

Gary lowered his head slightly.

"It's just..."

"He's not bad."

"I think he's just..."

Gary struggled to find the right words.

"He just doesn't know how to deal with other people."

He looked up at Red.

"And I think he's kind of like me."

Red remained silent.

Gary smiled faintly.

"You're my big brother, aren't you?"

"Can't you do that for me?"

Red looked at him.

Then he gently placed a hand on Gary's head.

"Okay, my little brother."

"I'll try."

---

Jin's fists continued striking Red.

No one dared to move.

Even Victor and Freddie didn't know what to do.

Should they stop Jin?

Could they even stop him?

The two eventually stepped forward.

But the moment Jin turned his glowing blue eye toward them, both froze.

Jin suddenly left Red behind and attacked them instead.

His fists struck both of them, sending them crashing through the classroom door and into the hallway.

The door broke apart from the impact.

Everyone in the classroom was terrified.

Nobody wanted to approach Jin.

Nobody knew what he would do next.

Gary finally moved.

He ran toward Red.

He dropped to his knees beside him.

"Red!"

"Red!"

Red's breathing was weak.

Gary's voice trembled.

"Please!"

"Wake up!"

Jin slowly began walking away from the classroom.

Victor and Freddie immediately ran in the opposite direction.

Jin followed after them.

A few moments later, the sound of police sirens could be heard approaching the school.

Someone had called the police.

Gary remained beside Red.

Red slowly opened his eyes.

His vision was blurry.

But he could still see Gary.

He slowly lifted his hand.

It took almost all the strength he had left.

His fingers finally reached Gary's face.

Gary immediately grabbed his hand.

"Red..."

Red's voice was weak.

"Gary..."

He struggled to speak.

"I-I'm sorry..."

Gary's eyes immediately filled with tears.

"No."

"You'll be fine."

"Please don't say that."

He held Red's hand tightly.

"Listen to me."

Red stared at him.

Gary's voice broke.

"Big bro..."

"Don't leave me."

Tears escaped from Red's eyes.

He remembered everything.

The things he had done.

The people he had hurt.

And the way Gary had tried to convince him to change.

He had promised Gary that he would try.

But now, lying there with his body barely able to move, Red finally understood how badly he had failed to keep that promise.

His fingers trembled in Gary's hand.

"Gary..."

Gary looked at him through his tears.

Red struggled to breathe.

"Don't..."

His voice was weak.

"Don't go after Jin."

Gary's eyes widened.

"What?"

Red swallowed painfully.

"I was wrong..."

He looked at Gary.

"But you..."

His voice almost disappeared.

"You're not like me right?"

Gary shook his head.

"No..."

"Don't say that."

Red's eyes slowly began to close.

"The classroom slowly emptied around them."

The other students had already fled.

The police had arrived outside.

Jin was being taken away.

But Gary remained beside Red.

He refused to let go of his hand.

"No..."

Gary's voice trembled.

"No, no..."

Red's breathing became weaker.

"I..."

He struggled to speak.

"I should have..."

Gary leaned closer.

"What?"

Red's eyes opened slightly.

"I should have listened to you."

Gary froze.

The words broke something inside him.

"Red..."

But Red could no longer respond.

Gary held his hand tightly.

"No..."

"Please..."

"BIG BROOOOO!!..."

The memory began fading.

---

Present.

Gary's body was still lying on the ground.

His eyes were barely open.

He looked up at Jin.

"Y-You..."

His voice was weak.

"Why...?"

Jin looked down at him.

For the first time, his expression seemed slightly different.

"I don't regret what I did."

Gary stared at him.

Jin continued.

"I know that you cared about me."

Gary's eyes widened slightly.

Jin looked toward the cloudy sky.

"I wasn't speaking because..."

He paused.

"I didn't know what to say."

Gary listened quietly.

Jin's voice remained calm.

"I know I went too far that day."

He lowered his gaze toward Gary.

"And Gary..."

"Was this what Red wanted?"

Gary's expression changed.

"What...?"

For a moment, Gary didn't understand.

Then he thought about Red's final words.

Gary's expression slowly softened.

A weak smile appeared on his face.

"No..."

He closed his eyes for a moment.

"He wouldn't want me to end up like this."

Jin said:

"Yeah."

There was a brief pause.

Then Jin spoke again.

"And Gary..."

"Tell Red that..."

Gary opened his eyes.

He looked at Jin one last time.

Jin continued.

"That I'm sorry."

Gary stared at him.

Then he let out a weak laugh.

His eyes began to close.

"Yeah..."

"I'll tell him."

His tears slowly dried against his face.

Gary's eyes finally closed.

Jin remained standing beside him.

"For all the trouble you went through..."

"You waited this long just to ask me why I killed him."

Jin looked toward the sky.

"Honestly..."

"I'm not sure either."

Gary remained still.

Jin continued speaking.

"And I know you understand me too."

"That's why you never pushed me for an answer before."

Jin lowered his gaze.

"I respect the anger you've held inside yourself all these years."

"Rest well, Gary."

From a distance, everyone had been watching the entire exchange.

Nobody seemed to understand what had just happened.

Daisy's eyes were filled with tears.

Daniel looked at her.

"What happened?"

Daisy quickly wiped her face.

"Nothing..."

She looked toward Gary.

"I just think..."

"We got the wrong idea."

Mark's expression became serious.

"I think so too."

Jin placed both hands into his pockets.

Then he turned toward the four A Rank officers.

David stepped forward.

"If you're done with this, we're taking Gary."

John nodded.

"We'll treat his injuries and question him once he's—"

"No."

Jin interrupted him.

Both David and John stopped.

Jin stared directly at them.

"You're not taking him anywhere."

David's expression hardened.

John stepped forward.

"You don't get to decide that."

Jin remained calm.

But his eyes slowly began to change.

"I'll give you a chance."

He looked between the two officers.

"Back off."

David's eyes narrowed.

"Or what?"

Jin's expression became colder.

"Or you'll have to go through me to take him."

The two officers stared at him.

Then Jin Closed his eyes, and opened them again.

Jin's irises began glowing blue.

Both eyes.

The atmosphere around the schoolyard suddenly changed.

To be continued...
