Chapter 37 - CHAPTER 37

Oh~~ So you're a [Transmuter]. I didn't expect you to be so sinister, with thick eyebrows and big ears."

Rimo's playful voice echoed directly in Jack's ear.

Jack, finally realizing something was wrong, hurriedly looked down. His [Mind Cannon], which had been aimed at Rimo, was frozen in midair—hovering just three or four centimeters above Rimo's abdomen, unable to move an inch.

"What… how is this possible?!" Jack's mind raced. This was his own attack, and yet it had become an extension of his opponent's control.

Before he could react, Rimo raised a finger. His [Unlimited Spell] had transferred the entire cannon from his abdomen to his fingertip, where it hovered obediently.

Jack's eyes widened in disbelief. He tried to retract his right hand—but it was fixed firmly in the air. There was no escape. Jack's feint, his careful use of [Flow] and [Mind Cannon], had brought him squarely into Rimo's [Unlimited Spell] range.

"What kind of ability is this?!" Jack shouted, panic creeping into his voice.

He attempted to fire another cannon with his left hand, condensing all his aura into it.

"[Mind Cannon]! [Mind Cannon]! [Mind Cannon]! [Mind Cannon]!!!"

The projectiles formed rapidly and shot toward Rimo—but each one stopped in midair, hovering three or four centimeters from his body. Jack's legs weakened under the effort; his feet wobbled, ready to collapse. Yet his right hand remained frozen by Rimo's control. He looked like a puppet, held by some invisible force.

"Is the fight over?" Rimo asked quietly, eyes calm, as he observed Jack's terrified expression.

"Normally, I shoot others… but never someone shoots back at me. Even if you can't fire, it's… really annoying," Jack muttered, dread creeping through him. Rimo's eyes were like a still pool—impossible to read.

"Then I'll return your little toys," Rimo said. He began to manipulate the suspended cannons, fusing them seamlessly above his fingertip. The energy, being of the same Nen type, merged perfectly. Soon, more than ten cannons condensed into a single massive weapon. Rimo's finger moved steadily, guiding the giant cannon toward Jack.

"No… don't!! Please don't!!" Jack screamed, trying to step back, but [Unlimited Spell] held him immobile. There was no escape.

"Elder! Help me! Help me!!" Jack pleaded, his eyes fixed on the Great Elder, panic-stricken.

Rimo paused, his finger still suspended. "Are you ordering me?" he asked, a subtle aura of malevolence beginning to radiate from his body, pressing even against the Great Elder.

Feeling the dark intent, the Great Elder immediately protected himself with [Tangling]. Meteor Street Elders had long learned to read aura.

"This is just a demonstration—there's no need…" the Elder began.

Rimo cut him off. "He just shot with the intent to kill me," Rimo said, his gaze cold and unwavering. At that moment, he didn't care about Jack's reasons—envy, arrogance, or mental imbalance. What mattered was that this junk named Jack had provoked him.

The elder's throat tightened; he was struck silent. On Meteor Street, a failed challenger deserved death, and Rimo was a perfect executor.

"Rimo, this is disrespectful to our elders…" the fourth Elder muttered, stepping forward cautiously.

But the malicious aura, initially aimed only at the Great Elder, suddenly expanded. Rimo unleashed his full 150,000-unit [Evil Thought], transforming the conference room into a purgatory-like battlefield. The room trembled under the oppressive aura; even Chrollo froze in awe. He had expected Rimo to be strong, but not to this extent.

"Does anyone else wish to speak?" Rimo asked calmly. His tone carried no intent to kill, yet the sheer weight of his released aura left the Elders unable to breathe. Pupils dilated, sweat poured down like waterfalls, and all speech ceased.

Satisfied, Rimo retracted his evil thoughts. The Elders gasped, finally realizing the sweetness of simple life and air.

Turning his attention back to Jack, Rimo prepared to finish the lesson. To die by one's own moves was poetic justice. To his surprise, Jack had already stopped breathing, his face frozen in terror. The massive surge of Rimo's aura had frightened him to death.

"Forget it," Rimo muttered, examining Jack's body and the giant cannon in his hand. "No need to waste it."

With a subtle motion, he fired the cannon at Jack's corpse.

"Boom!!"

The impact obliterated the body, shaking the entire conference room and leaving a deep crater in the floor. Rimo turned to the Elders, composed once again.

"Now, have I finished the test?"
