The following morning... West's car stopped outside Liz's apartment building.
He knocked gently and after a few moments he heard someone yell from inside. "I'm coming..."
After nearly three minutes, the door opened and Liz's fiancé looked pleasantly surprised on wheelchair stationed at the entrance. "West?"
West smiled. "Morning."
"Sorry for dropping by unannounced."
"No, not at all."
"Come in."
West stepped inside and noticed how tidy the apartment looked. It was still quite astonishing how a working class woman like Liz was able to keep this up while also taking care of her crippled fiancée. She truly was a super woman.
However, West suddenly noticed something. "Liz isn't home?"
Her fiancé shook his head. "She left for work about an hour ago."
West nodded slowly. "I thought as much. Was hoping to catch her before she left."
The man frowned. "Did something happen?"
West remained quiet for a moment, debating how much to reveal internally.
