Yelena struggled to compose herself. "I..."

"I suddenly feel so sad."
Her voice cracked. "I don't want to be alone."
"Can you... come over?"
West didn't hesitate. "Of course."
"I'll be there."
"Thank you..."
After the call ended, West looked apologetically toward Liz.
"I'm really sorry."
She shook her head. "You don't have to apologize."
"Something's clearly happened."
West nodded. "A friend needs me."
He stood, already reaching for his jacket. "My driver will take you home afterward."
"You should finish your meal."
Liz smiled warmly. "Thank you."
West smiled back. "No."
"Thank you."
"I actually had a great time today."
"So did I."
He gave a small wave. "I'll see you again soon."
"I'll hold you to that."
West hurried toward the restaurant exit and Liz quietly watched him disappear through the doorway.
Only after he had gone did she glance down at the untouched portion of her meal.
