Chapter 3 - I am a human! I promise you!

It has been days since they left. Well, I made them leave. It makes me smile to remember humiliated Ail was thinking that she can threaten me. The flashbacks of the events inside Module Array 7 are boggling my mind. How am I still one piece after hitting the ground. What were those thorns?

Even though the thoughts were enough to keep me entertained for longer, metal keys clinged the door lock. Whoever it is, walked so carefully no footsteps were heard.

Cling-cling!

Cling-cling!

Cling-cling!

After few failed trials, the right keys opened the lock. Ugh, the light immediately filling the room dazzled my eyes, leaving a stinging sensation behind them. The silhouette of her hair gave it away who she is before lamps got lit. Door is closed carefully to not make any sound.

It's that brown haired woman from Module Array 7. Except. Her name must be, Except.

Me: Except. - To stop her awkward smile and cut the silence, I spoke first.

Except: Huh…Uh, yes, yes. I am Except. You must have figured it out by now. - Forcing to stop her fake smile, she got closer and bend to sat on the floor.

Such a naive person to come closer to me after all that incident caused by me. As she struggled to start a conversation, I broke the silence for one more time.

Me: You wanted to call me Seven, right?

Except: Yes. I thought you do not have a name and Seven sounds nice…But I was going to ask you!

Me: I do not care. Do as you wish.

Except: Oh, alright. I came here to talk about something else. A lot of things have happened and I understand you are confused. We all have been through similar experiences.

Me: Cut it short! I'm not interested. Are you going to release me or not?

Except: Yes…and no. Ail's intention was to untie the chains but you are not cooperating. She is heavily injured. We cannot decide without her supervision.

Me: She should have been more careful then.

Except: You are a little grumpy, aren't you?

To show my irritation, I rolled my eyes.

Except: How did you Morph the String Matter? It requires extremely hard training to master.

Me: I do not know what you are talking about. About those thorns that I pierced Ail with... I do not know. It just happened.

Except: We call it String Matter. Everywhere in universe is covered with String Matter. With the right vibration, it is possible to create new morphs by rearranging the particles.

Me: So, these chains are also Morphs created from String Matter. - I pointed to the chains tied around me with my head.

Except: Yes...You have quite sharp mind. Axiom morphed them.

Me: Axiom? Your sister, huh?

Except: Well...no...yes, yes. She is my sister.

Her stutter was suspicious. There has to be something behind this.

Except: Axiom does have a rude way of speaking. Sometimes, I also have a hard time to get along with her. - A sour smile appeared to deceive herself into believing what she is saying - But I truly believe her mind is pure, unlike other Voidborns. Uhmm, actually, my reason to come here was to get you to speak with Axiom, to calm down the waters.

Me: Ha ha ha, If this is the reason you are bothering me, then take your stupid ideas and get lost!

Hearing the shouting, her stupid smile disappeared. With the support of her hands, she got up and came closer until the gap between us closed. Her face got a serious form as she viciously pulled my hair from back. The hissing voice touched to my face.

Except: Do not you ever test my patience!

Anger bubbled inside my veins. The sparkles burned my iris.

Me: What would you do?

A metal spine appeared in her back. Long, sharp spine covered me like a serpent until reaching the throat. Blood dripped onto metal from the small cuts. Metal thorns inside my head, appeared behind her back.

Except: Just because I do not hurt you does not mean I cannot.

The door opened with a kick, leaving echoes. Oh, she forgot to lock the door. Even though Except is blocking my view, the presence of Axiom is impossible ignore.

Axiom: What are you doing here? - Pulling her arm - Did I not tell you to not come here alone?

After that, the metal spine disappeared into thin air, leaving black smoke behind. Her color went pale after turning her back to see the tens of thorns, waiting to stab her. It is giving me pleasure to see her shaken, even though she tries to hide it. But there is no need to cause more chaos after the incident with Ail.

Except's stiff body loosened after thorns disappeared. Her head went down. Is this shame or regret?

Except: Yes...I should not have come here. Sorry. I could not...could not control myself.

Axiom: You go attend Ail. I have something to talk with her.

Except nodded her head as she reached to the door to leave. Door shut carefully. Axiom turned to me with a milder face. No anger or rage is to be seen in her eyes.

Axiom: We cannot keep you here tied forever. This is not ethical in my eyes. Can you promise me not to attack anyone if I untie you?

Ail, Except, Axiom. They all seem to be missing few screws in the head. What they say, how they act, does not match each other. But my only choice for now is to obey.

Me: I never intended to hurt anyone! It is you! Who did chain me here.

Axiom: I did not come here to argue. Just promise me. If any humanity is left inside you, promise with your whole heart.

Humanity...how familiar...how sweet. For no reason, my eyes are burning as if a distant memory appeared in front of me. I am a human. Yes, a human. Just for the sake of humanity, i promise you.

Me: Yes...I am a human! I promise you!
