Chapter 244 - Allen Vs. Raven: A One-Sided Battle (1)

In the arena, the tension caused by the previous deadly incident slowly began to fade along with the swift performance of the committee.

The medical personnel had finished evacuating and lifting Orvion's body out of the public's sight. Meanwhile, several committee members and academy teachers specializing in the earth magic element immediately moved to the middle of the arena.

With just a few waves of their hands and short incantations, the pitted arena surface, as well as the spectator stands wall that was shattered to pieces due to the impact of Orvion's body, slowly merged and became whole again as before. There were no longer any traces of damage left.

"Alright, ladies and gentlemen! Since the arena has been sterilized, let's immediately continue the tenth match in this tournament!" exclaimed the host from the podium, trying to revive the enthusiasm of the audience. "This tenth match is a battle between... Allen Vedegra against Prince Raven Trazzardius Lierde Marland! Both participants are requested to immediately head to the match arena right now!"

Hearing his name called, Raven, the prince of the Marland Kingdom, immediately stood up. He stomped his foot and jumped from the boundary fence of the special participant stands. His cloak fluttered as he landed smoothly on the ground, then walked with a very dense and intimidating aura towards the middle of the arena.

On the other side of the stands, Allen also stood up calmly. He turned his head towards his husband to ask for his blessing, then also jumped down from the stands and walked casually towards the middle of the arena.

In the middle of the arena, the two of them now stood facing each other at a distance of a few meters. They stared at each other with completely different intentions.

"I assure you Arvin Vedegra will regret his action of sending and choosing you as my opponent today!" Raven said coldly, his eyes glaring sharply full of anger and deep vengeance.

"I will do my best to fulfill my husband's expectations!" answered Allen casually, his voice sounding gentle yet possessing a firmness that could not be underestimated.

On the podium, the host had already raised her right hand high up, preparing to give the cue.

"Alright! This tenth match... BEGINS!!"

The host's exclamation boomed throughout the area. Instantly, the exclamation was greeted by incredibly boisterous cheers and applause from the thousands of spectators in the stands.

Their enthusiasm exploded again, as if the horrific incident of a casualty falling in the previous match evaporated and never happened.

Whoosh!

A high-tier wind magic attack was formed instantly. The wind was compressed in such a way that it became a very flat, transparent, and sharp sickle blade. The deadly wind blade shot out cleaving the air at incredible speed towards Raven's neck.

Crash!

However, an unexpected thing happened. That deadly attack did not injure its opponent at all. The sharp wind blade instead penetrated and merely passed through the prince's body as if passing through an empty shadow, before finally continuing to shoot backward and hitting the spectator stands' protective wall until it shattered.

Allen widened his eyes slightly, feeling surprised to see his precise attack seemingly just pass through his opponent's body just like that.

Curious and wanting to test his hypothesis, the pink-haired youth focused mana into both his palms again.

Zing! Zing!

In the blink of an eye, two sword blades created purely from the light element shot consecutively towards Raven faster than the previous wind magic.

Clack! Clack!

Once again the same scene repeated itself. The light sword attacks did not collide with anything at all. Both of them penetrated and passed through Raven's body very smoothly before finally embedding themselves deep into the spectator stands wall.

Allen stood transfixed, truly never expecting that his combination of wind and light magic would not have any impact on his opponent. Raven seemed as if he didn't have a physical body.

"Are you done attacking with your toy magic?" asked Raven with a highly condescending tone, the corner of his lips pulling into a cynical smile. "In that case, now it is my turn!"

Raven directly raised one of his hands and pointed it straight forward.

Thud!

Allen's body suddenly collapsed and kneeled hard on the arena. His bones creaked softly.

Something invisible yet extremely strong and incredibly heavy suddenly fell from above and pressed down on his entire body mercilessly.

"Ugh...." Allen let out a suppressed groan, enduring the weight that seemed to want to crush his internal organs.

Air pressure magic? Allen thought in surprise, gritting his teeth while exerting his physical strength, trying to fight the unreasonable gravitational pressure. No, this is much heavier. My body really cannot move at all. How should I break this magic?

Even though his opponent was already helpless, Raven had absolutely no intention of stopping.

Dark magic began to creep from the ground beneath Allen's feet, spreading fast like a snake about to wrap around his body.

Within seconds, the dark magic transformed into chains of thick shadow, instantly wrapping around and binding Allen's ankles and wrists tightly.

Raven pulled those chains upwards until the pink-haired youth's body was lifted and floated helplessly in the air.

His opponent was perfectly locked like a living punching bag.

Raven's gaze turned increasingly vicious and he clenched his fist.

Thwack!

A punch from compressed and quite strong wind magic shot out and hit Allen's stomach directly.

"Ugh!"

Before he could regulate his breath from the first punch, Raven unleashed his attack again. And those air punch attacks were launched repeatedly without the slightest pause.

The invisible punches kept landing on his solar plexus and stomach, making the pink-haired youth feel an extreme pain in his internal organs.

Is the real Raven this strong? Allen said in his heart while keeping his eyes closed, wincing to endure the pain as he received the repeated wind magic punches hitting his stomach. Even though I already drank two bottles of Elixir of Archmage to boost my physical and magic power, I still cannot match the speed and strangeness of this magic of his. No wonder he was very confident to challenge my husband.

With his dark chains still binding Allen very tightly, Raven slowly lowered his hand.

"One of you killed someone here very arrogantly!" Raven said coldly, his voice echoing full of threat in the middle of the arena. "Then it shouldn't be a problem if I take revenge by killing you here now, Allen Vedegra?"

Meanwhile, in the special participant stands, the situation began to look tense. Ordion, Alvein, and Kylen stood up from their seats, unable to bear seeing their husband's first spouse being tortured one-sidedly in the arena.

But, a contrasting sight was actually seen in Arvin's figure. The blue-haired youth acted very casually without showing the slightest panicked or tense facial expression.

"My Dear, are you not going to step in to stop this match?" asked Ordion with a panicked tone, his red hair fluttering slightly along with his mana which also churned due to worrying about Allen's safety. "Raven intends to kill him!"

"There's no need!" answered Arvin casually without diverting his gaze from the arena. "If I constantly help him when he is cornered, he will never be able to be independent and develop! Therefore, I specifically asked him to step down and fight Raven today."

"But he is being tortured! Are you not worried about him?" chimed in Elenora suddenly, who was sitting on Arvin's left side, looking at his face with a gaze of disbelief.

"I am much more worried if in the future he cannot be independent and dies on a real battlefield, rather than just seeing him being showered by dozens of ordinary punches like that in this tournament arena!"

That logical yet seemingly heartless answer successfully made Ordion, Alvein, Kylen, and Elenora fall silent. They looked at Arvin with a bewildered gaze and couldn't comprehend his harsh methods.

However, on the other hand, Alrain remained calm and continued to watch the duel in the middle of the arena closely, fully trusting his husband's calculations.
