CHAPTER 199: THE SECOND METEOR
"Dust Release: Detachment of the Primitive World Technique!"
Onoki completed the technique and pushed forward without the slightest hesitation.
BUZZ!
The void itself seemed to tremble. A white beam of light shot upward, racing toward the meteorite burning with hot flames above.
Dust Release was said to be capable of annihilating any matter. Destroying all existence.
Even against a meteorite—surely it could do the same?
But the meteorite's size was enormous. This was not as simple as annihilating a single person.
At this moment, to destroy the meteorite, Onoki poured almost every drop of chakra remaining in his body into the technique.
Because if annihilation failed, not only he but this entire group of subordinates would be crushed by the falling rock. He didn't dare gamble. He couldn't gamble. He would give everything to stop this threat.
The battlefield fell silent. No one dared speak. No one dared breathe. Every eye watched this historic moment unfold.
In the sky above, Onoki's Dust Release collided with the meteorite.
A massive white cube materialized in everyone's vision—Dust Release completely enveloping the celestial rock. They clashed. They intertwined. They fought from the outside in.
Onoki's hands were clasped together, sweat pouring down his face. His voice thundered:
"ANNIHILATE!"
The technique erupted fully.
Brilliance exploded outward. Thousands of rays of light gathered together, converging into one point as if the entire galaxy had collapsed into a single spot. Endless light condensed, compressed, and then—
Detonation.
The light spread in all directions, silent but absolute.
From beginning to end, no sound escaped.
But wherever that white light touched, terrifying invisible ripples followed. Everything—rock, earth, air itself—turned to dust.
Under countless shocked gazes, the enormous meteorite was completely reduced to ash. It became sporadic sparks, tiny fragments that dissipated into nothing and disappeared.
And the white ripples of the Dust Release beam continued sweeping outward. Wherever they passed—mud, solid rock, everything—all turned to dust.
What a shocking sight!
Dust Release had annihilated a meteor from the heavens. It had destroyed the power of heaven itself. The power of a god!
HUFF... HUFF...
Onoki gasped raggedly. His body was drenched in sweat, trembling with exhaustion. He had given everything to destroy that meteorite. This was beyond human capability.
But he had saved everyone. His efforts were not in vain.
"Well done!"
"That's bloodline elimination for you!"
"But..."
A voice drifted down from high above. Calm. Cold. Unmoved.
"Is this your limit?"
Onoki's expression shifted. His heart clenched. "What do you mean?!"
"You stopped the first meteorite." Ragnar's smile was visible even from this distance—and it was terrifying. "But what about the second?"
Suddenly, that smile transformed into something demonic. Something beyond human. In Tsuchikage Onoki's eyes, it became the most frightening thing he had ever seen.
The second?
THE SECOND?!
Onoki's mind screamed denial. This was impossible! How could anyone continuously summon meteorites?! If there was another—if there was another—they would all die!
In his horrified gaze, Ragnar raised his arm again. Purple light overflowed from his body.
"Lord Ragnar!"
The little slug emerged from his collar, its voice sharp with alarm. "You cannot forcefully use this ability again! The burden on your body right now is too great!"
Ragnar laughed softly. "I didn't expect you to worry about me, little one."
His hands didn't stop. The gravity light had already condensed.
Either he didn't fight—or he struck so hard they would never dare face him again.
"Lord Ragnar, I am constantly monitoring your physical condition." The little slug's voice was urgent. "You are completely overloaded right now. The damage to your body is severe. If you continue, you risk collapse!"
"Isn't that why you're here?" Ragnar's voice was calm. Unconcerned.
The little slug hesitated. It could feel his will—absolute, unshakeable.
Finally, it spoke: "Lord Ragnar... I will heal your body as best I can. But I cannot promise anything."
For just a moment, a rare gentle smile crossed Ragnar's face.
Then it was gone.
His arm swept upward. Another beam of gravity light shot into the sky.
Not long after—as expected—a second meteor appeared. It descended slowly toward the earth, flames already licking its surface.
Everyone was stunned.
Continuously summoning meteorites. What kind of heaven-defying ability was this?!
The Iwa ninja fell into despair. Tsuchikage Onoki's eyes went blank. His expression became distant, lost. He didn't know what to say anymore.
All eyes fixed on the second meteor.
Ahem!
Ragnar coughed suddenly. He quickly covered his mouth with his hand—but when he looked down, his palm was covered in blood.
Fresh blood. His blood.
"Lord Ragnar!" The little slug's voice trembled. "These are the side effects of forcing your abilities! You have been fighting continuously until now. Your physical strength is completely exhausted. You truly cannot continue fighting!"
It released healing chakra frantically, desperately trying to repair the damage.
"Don't worry." Ragnar's voice was steady, though his face had gone pale. "It's nothing serious."
No one noticed this exchange. No one saw him cough blood. All attention remained fixed on the descending meteor.
"God is punishing my Iwa Ninja!"
At this moment, regret flooded Onoki's heart. He had started the Second Ninja War. He had been the first to plunder the Land of Rain's resources.
Now this was the result. Divine punishment.
Perhaps he should have listened to Onihei earlier. Surrendered. Signed an armistice agreement. Ended this madness.
But it was too late now.
The meteor fell faster. Its surface burned with furious flames as it broke through the atmosphere. Smoke and clouds billowed around it. The closer it came to the ground, the more terrifying it became. The eternally overcast sky of the Land of Rain tore open—a massive hole punched through the clouds.
On the ground, rainwater evaporated instantly wherever the heat reached. Steam rose in great columns, flowing upward to meet the falling death.
The Iwa ninja gave up resistance. What was the point?
Onoki had exhausted his chakra stopping the first meteor. He had some strength left, but it was meaningless. A drop in an ocean. He would die with his subordinates—perhaps this was his final awakening as a Tsuchikage.
Then—
"Magnet Release: Iron Sand Rain!"
An unexpected voice rang out.
The Third Kazekage appeared at the Iwa ninja's side. Behind him, numerous Sand ninja prepared their techniques.
"Wind Release: Wind Blade!"
"Wind Release: Great Breakthrough!"
"Fire Release: Great Fireball!"
Techniques flew upward in desperate defiance.
The Third Kazekage controlled his iron sand with both hands. Grains of black sand erupted from the earth below, rising in massive quantities. In the blink of an eye, a vast black mass gathered—visible to everyone.
Then the Kazekage thrust his hands upward. The iron sand shot into the sky, forming an enormous black shield that spread across the heavens!
BOOM!
The meteorite struck the iron sand with force that shook heaven and earth. The impact created a sound so massive it seemed to crack reality itself.
But the falling meteor's momentum was too great. Even the iron sand couldn't withstand it.
In almost a moment, the iron sand shield shattered.
However—under the Third Kazekage's Magnet Release control, countless more iron sand particles rose from underground. Wave after wave. One ebbing, another flowing. Perhaps... perhaps they could withstand it?
URGH!
Suddenly, the Third Kazekage vomited blood violently. He clutched his chest, barely able to stand. The palm strike from the Great Buddha had done severe internal damage. He was pushing himself far beyond his limits.
"ONOKI!"
His roar cut through the chaos like a thunderbolt from a clear sky—deafening, shocking, impossible to ignore.
"DO YOU REALLY WANT TO JUST STAND THERE AND DIE?!"
