Chapter 143: This Is The True Power of a Ninja
While the people of the Pirate World were cursing the Marines' performance, the screen changed to an aerial view.
The Marine personnel, marked as blue dots, were scattered throughout the forest. They weren't grouping up; instead, they wandered aimlessly. On the other hand, the red dots representing the Ninja World had already organized into formations and were moving with purpose.
The contrast was unbelievable. How long had it been? How were the ninjas communicating?
The camera zoomed in on ninjas moving in a three-man cell. They leaped from branch to branch with extreme speed. In contrast, the Marines were trudging along the ground.
"Those people choose to jump from branch to branch, like monkeys!" Whitebeard took a sip of his sake.
Despite his words, Whitebeard understood the tactical difference. If people on the ground didn't look up, the enemy above had the advantage. This was air superiority.
"This is just the beginning," Yuichi said.
Whitebeard paused, sensing something peculiar. Yuichi spoke with an unsettling familiarity, as if he knew these ninjas intimately—their abilities, their tactics, perhaps the very laws of their world.
Boom!!
Suddenly, an astonishing explosion rang out from the light curtain.
A Marine had walked into a trap. He wasn't seriously injured by the detonating tag—he wasn't too bad, managing to use Haki to protect himself just in time. But then, a ninja appeared, launching a harassing attack.
Relying on Haki, Iron Body, and Finger Pistol, the Marine countered and knocked the ninja back. The crowd cheered, thinking the Marine was about to turn the tables. In close combat, ninjas were generally physically weaker than Grand Line warriors.
However, the moment the ninja retreated, the Marine took a step to chase.
Two black shadows flashed behind him.
Slash!
Blood spattered. The Pirate World audience felt a phantom chill on their necks.
Poof!
Another Marine fell. White light floated from his body. The cooperation of the three ninjas had neutralized a Marine in seconds.
The screen rotated again. A party of five Marines was attacked by a squad of three ninjas.
From the light curtain, it was clear the ninjas were outnumbered. Yet, they attacked. One ninja launched a sneak attack, leaving a wound on a Marine. The Marines counterattacked immediately, but the first one to rush out was led into a trap. Bombarded by three detonating tags, he lost combat effectiveness instantly.
The other four surrounded the ninja, preparing to kill him. Suddenly, the ninja cast the Body Flicker Technique, escaping the encirclement.
Just as the four Marines locked onto his position, two more ninjas appeared from the trees behind them—or rather, the trees turned into ninjas.
Thud!
Kunai pierced the hearts of two Marines from behind. Two more dead.
The remaining two Marines were stunned. Before they could react, a voice rang out from above.
"Fire Style!!"
A stream of flame descended from the sky.
Boom!!
The explosion blew the two Marines away. They tried to stand, but the previous two ninjas were already upon them. The series of attacks left no room to breathe.
Instantly killed.
The first Marine, who had been disabled by the traps, looked at the three ninjas in horror. He turned to flee, but a shuriken took him down.
Five people, wiped out.
This battle stunned the Pirate World. That series of soul-stirring attacks had no gaps. Every step seemed anticipated. Appear, ambush, lure, trap, ambush again, coordinate.
This was what a real ninja was. Although their Taijutsu couldn't compare to high-level Marines, Taijutsu was only a part of their arsenal. They had weird ninjutsu, transformation techniques, and lethal coordination.
On the Moby Dick, the Division Commanders looked heavy. Facing such unexpected attacks, if they were fighting ninjas of the same level, they might have been killed too.
"So strong!" Vista said, restraining his previous contempt.
Whitebeard smiled at Yuichi. "It seems that because of you, we underestimated these ninjas. This battle really shows how terrifying they are!"
Yuichi remained expressionless. "What you see now is just an insignificant part."
"What else do you know?" Whitebeard asked, puzzled.
Yuichi smiled mysteriously. "I'll let you know after we unite!"
Whitebeard frowned. He was curious, which was exactly what Yuichi wanted. To lead the alliance, he needed to prove his value.
"Sneaky guys! Come out!"
Although ninjas were good at lurking, hiding from an Admiral was not easy. An Admiral's Observation Haki could sense danger and presence.
The first Admiral to appear on screen was the irritable Akainu.
After roaring and seeing no one appear, lava erupted from his body.
"Since you don't want to come out, I'll see how long you can hide! These unsightly trees... the old man will destroy them all!"
"Meteor Volcano..."
Boom, boom, boom!
