Chapter 69 - Pikachu’s Magnetic Multiverse Journey! [69]

"Eating isn't strictly necessary, but it does make me feel just a little stronger."

Kars let out a casual belch. Having just devoured hundreds of vampires along with a great number of humans, he appeared as relaxed as someone who'd merely finished a midnight snack.

To Kars, the gates to a new world had swung wide open, and an eternity lay ahead of him.

"What horrifying power! Humanity really might go extinct!" Speedwagon collapsed helplessly onto his knees, overcome by despair. Suddenly, he lifted his head, shouting desperately to Joseph and Ray Chu. "Run! Get out of here! As long as you escape, there's still hope!"

"No way! I'm not running!" Joseph yelled back, gritting his teeth. "I'm taking Kars down right here!" He lunged recklessly forward, throwing caution aside as he faced the impossibly powerful Ultimate Life Form before him.

Never give up. Never give in. That was the Joestar family's golden spirit, passed down from generation to generation!

"Haaaah—!" Joseph's fist surged forward, charged to its limit with Hamon. Kars, utterly unconcerned, allowed Joseph's glowing fist to slam directly into his face.

Bam!

Yet, the only result was Kars's head tilting slightly. After evolving into the Ultimate Life Form, even Hamon—the Pillar Men's former weakness—had lost all effect. Worse, an overwhelming counter-Hamon, hundreds of times stronger than Joseph's own, surged forth from Kars's body, violently rebounding onto Joseph.

"Aaaaaagh!" Joseph screamed, staggering back and clutching his melting hand. "My hand—my hand's dissolving!"

Skin, muscle, and even bone visibly evaporated, turning into vapor, and a scorching pain spread from his hand throughout his entire body.

"Master Zeppeli once said that to neutralize one Hamon wave, you must create another, stronger wave…" Speedwagon gasped in horror, his mind racing to an unthinkable possibility as he stared at Kars.

Standing proudly with legs crossed and arms opened wide at his waist, Kars struck a majestic pose, pointing mockingly at Speedwagon. "Your expression says it all. You're exactly right—I now wield Hamon tens, hundreds of times stronger than any human! Isn't it delightfully ironic for a Hamon warrior to be defeated by Hamon itself?"

Even Joseph Joestar felt hopeless at that moment. Who could possibly defeat Kars now?

"No, there must still be a way!" Speedwagon desperately tried to reassure himself. "The sun! The Pillar Men fear sunlight. We just have to hold out until dawn—!"

Yet, reality quickly crushed his hopes.

At that very moment, the long-awaited sun rose slowly from the horizon, faint at first, then growing brighter until billions of rays bathed the earth.

Kars spread his arms wide, basking in sunlight with his back to the rising sun. Covering his face dramatically with one hand, he burst into shrill, triumphant laughter. "Ahahaha—ha ha ha ha ha! At last… at last I've conquered the sun! Such beautiful scenery!"

"He's invincible… Humanity has no hope left." Speedwagon's trembling hand removed his hat as he closed his eyes, resigned to his impending death.

"No. It's not over yet."

It was Ray Chu who spoke, determination glittering in his eyes. "Even the Ultimate Life Form Kars still has one fatal weakness."

Kars turned his head sharply. "Oh? A weakness—after I've evolved into the Ultimate Life Form? You arrogant fool. Soon you'll beg and plead for mercy."

"Is that so?" Ray Chu suddenly raised an object—the very item that had allowed Kars's final evolution: the Red Stone of Aja. Somehow, it was now in Ray Chu's possession.

Kars froze in shock. He clearly remembered the stone rolling to his feet. When did Ray Chu grab it? He'd completely missed it. Had Kars seen Caesar's Hamon bubbles before, perhaps he would've figured out Ray Chu's trick.

Yet outwardly, Kars merely scoffed, casually waving his hand. "As the Ultimate Life Form, I have no further need for the Red Stone. You can keep it—as a souvenir to bury with your corpse."

"Feel free to test that theory," Ray Chu replied enigmatically, an unreadable smirk on his face.

This reaction unsettled Kars. Could there truly be a hidden weakness he wasn't aware of? Even with his towering IQ of 400, he couldn't glean even the slightest hint from Ray Chu's expression.

"Hmph! You think you can trick me with mere bluffing?"

Ultimately, Kars decided not to waste any more time. He'd simply crush this nuisance with absolute force!

"Die! [TEN-FINGER HAMON SPIKE BARRAGE]!" What bitter irony—the technique Hamon warriors developed to kill Pillar Men had now become Kars's weapon against them.

In an instant, ten fingertips charged with terrifying Hamon stretched out, piercing through hundreds of meters toward Ray Chu with unstoppable force.

"[SENDÓ HAMON OVERDRIVE]!"

Ray Chu's fists moved at blinding speed, meeting the incoming fingertips head-on. Their clash ignited an explosive surge of heat, sending shockwaves roaring out in all directions.

"Unbelievable! This Hamon… it's no weaker than Kars's—no, it's even stronger!" Speedwagon gaped, unable to believe his eyes. How had Ray Chu's Hamon grown this powerful so suddenly?

Then he noticed the crimson gem clutched tightly in Ray Chu's palm. With each strike, the Red Stone gleamed with ripples of brilliant energy.

"It's the Red Stone of Aja! It amplifies Hamon energy!" Joseph shouted urgently, taking over explanation duties with Smokey having fainted from blood loss.

Their eyes met, a glimmer of hope returning at last.

Kars too caught onto the secret. "Damn it! The Red Stone has such a powerful Hamon-enhancing property?! I should've destroyed it earlier!"

But regrets came too late. Seeing Hamon ineffective, Kars immediately employed an ability he'd gained after becoming the Ultimate Life Form.

His shoulder blades twisted, bulged, and transformed. From his back emerged two massive, avian wings—not arms turned into wings, but entirely new limbs erupting from his flesh.

Simultaneously, the internal structure of his bones became hollow, drastically reducing his weight. With a mighty flap, Kars soared into the sky.

"Kekeke… Bound by your human body, how can you possibly defeat me when I can wield the abilities of every creature in existence? Victory is mine alone!" Hovering triumphantly, Kars delivered his declaration from above.
