The titan tree was a monster, its will stretching as far as its massive branches... great even among the Great.
On the far side of the calm water Alicia could barely make out its trunk, rising into the clouds like a dark mountain before vast branches split from its crown, covering the great lake like a natural roof.
Its small red leaves fell and drifted on the wind, touching beings of flesh and blood and burrowing into their bodies like a parasite.
Tens of thousands of its vessels roamed the lands around the lake, spreading its seeds and gathering more hosts.
Behind Alicia lay dozens upon dozens of hideous corpses, some with nothing left but a limb, others missing half of themselves, pools of blood forming beneath them and slowly trickling into the lake.
All of them shared one thing, roots... their bodies were riddled with a network of intricate roots, growing through their arteries before bursting out of their eyes in the shape of beautiful red flowers.
