Chapter 141 -  Activation Test

Since Landorus's blood had already been absorbed into Garchomp's body, the most effective way to expose it to Wind and Lightning energy was simple—

Let Garchomp come into direct contact with those energies.

So…

"Relax. We'll start with Electric-type attacks. You're Dragon-type plus Ground-type—your resistance to electricity is extremely high. You'll be fine."

Garchomp: "???"

Hearing that only made things worse, okay?!

Unfortunately, none of Oliver's current Pokémon knew Electric-type moves. After thinking for a moment, he realized he could only ask Mu Xue for help.

After all, she already knew about the matter of Landorus's blood.

Oliver came out of the training room and just happened to run into Mu Xue, who had finished her call and was coming downstairs.

"Perfect timing," Oliver said quickly. "I need a favor."

"…What kind of favor?" Mu Xue asked suspiciously.

"Do you have a Pokémon that can use Electric-type moves? It doesn't have to be one of your main Pokémon."

As one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Xia, Mu Xue naturally owned far more than just her six main Pokémon.

Most ordinary trainers only raised six Pokémon for two reasons:

First, raising strong Pokémon required terrifying amounts of resources.

Second, too many Pokémon were difficult to manage—some people could barely handle even one.

Mu Xue, however, had no such problems.

For her, anything that could be bought with money didn't even count as a resource.

Only things that money couldn't buy were truly valuable.

On top of that, the Alliance provided her with an elite logistics and support team. Pokémon care was never an issue.

After thinking for a moment, she nodded.

"I once captured an Lanturn. I specialize in Water-types, but its Electric-type moves are still very solid."

"That's perfect. Bring it out."

"Hold on," Mu Xue said. "My Lanturn is at my place in the capital, being looked after by Yue and the others. I'll need to have it transferred through a Pokémon Center first.

You still haven't told me what you're planning to do."

"…This might sound a bit strange," Oliver hesitated, then said honestly,

"I need you to use Electric-type attacks on my Garchomp."

"…What?" Mu Xue stared at him. "Are you feeling okay?"

She stepped closer and placed a hand on his forehead.

Oliver twitched, slapped her hand away, and frowned.

"I'm serious. This is important."

Seeing the seriousness in his expression, Mu Xue finally sighed.

"…Alright. I'll contact Yue and have Lanturn sent over."

This world also had a Pokémon transfer system, allowing trainers to teleport Pokémon over long distances.

The inventor of this system was none other than Lu Xinghe himself.

Unlike the anime, there was no restriction limiting trainers to six Pokémon at a time, so no swapping was required.

Before long, an Alliance staff member arrived and handed a Poké Ball to Mu Xue.

Inside the underground training room, Garchomp was still grinding through its training, drenched in sweat.

With the gravity-weight gear on, even familiar exercises produced multiple times the usual effect.

Mu Xue threw the Poké Ball.

A Lanturn appeared.

Pokémon: Lanturn

Level: Gym-level Mid Rank

Potential: Heavenly King-level

As expected of a Heavenly King—

Even a non-main Pokémon possessed Gym-level strength.

When Garchomp saw Lanturn, it stopped moving.

It already knew what was coming.

Oliver had already communicated everything clearly, telling it to stay calm.

Mu Xue asked once more, serious now:

"Are you sure about this? Lanturn is Gym-level. Even with your typing, Garchomp won't handle a full-power electric attack easily."

She didn't know that Garchomp had quietly broken through from Advanced High Rank to Veteran Rank that very morning.

The breakthrough had been so subtle that only Oliver—thanks to the system—noticed.

"No problem," Oliver replied.

"Since you're worried, let's start weak and gradually increase the power."

Mu Xue nodded.

"Alright. Lanturn—"

"Wait!" Oliver suddenly interrupted.

"What now?"

Oliver rushed over and began removing Garchomp's gravity-weight equipment.

"This thing's expensive," he muttered. "Would be bad if it got fried. Okay—now you can start."

Mu Xue turned back to Lanturn.

"Lanturn, hold back. Use Electro Ball at thirty percent power."

A sphere of crackling electricity condensed in front of Lanturn and shot forward, striking Garchomp directly.

"…How does it feel?" Mu Xue asked.

Garchomp froze.

Huh?

It… felt like nothing at all.

Inside its body, the dormant Landorus blood trembled slightly—

But due to its lack of activity, the reaction lasted only an instant before sinking back into silence.

The fluctuation was so faint that neither Oliver nor Garchomp noticed it.

Garchomp had been nervous before the test.

Taking attacks head-on without defenses sounded reckless, no matter its typing.

But now—

Roar!

Garchomp shook its head at Oliver.

"No sensation?" Oliver frowned. "Increase the power."

Mu Xue nodded.

"Lanturn, fifty percent power—Electro Ball!"

Another bolt of lightning slammed into Garchomp.

Roar!

Still nothing.

"Again," Oliver said calmly.

This time, the Electro Ball moved like a flash of light—

Eighty percent power!

It struck Garchomp squarely.

Garchomp glanced at the impact point… then laughed loudly.

ROAR—ROAR!

Is that all a Gym-level Pokémon can do?

That doesn't even tickle!

"…Still nothing?" Mu Xue was stunned.

That attack would have heavily injured a newly promoted Gym-level Pokémon.

Yet Garchomp acted like it was being scratched.

"It broke through to Veteran Rank this morning," Oliver explained.

Mu Xue's eyes widened slightly.

"…I see. In that case—"

She looked at Lanturn.

"Lanturn. Full power."

This time, Lanturn understood perfectly.

It had heard Garchomp's mocking roars earlier—and it was furious.

This attack held nothing back.

A fully unleashed, rage-filled Electric-type strike exploded toward Garchomp.
