Kali looked down at her glass. "He was quiet. And I was a kid. But to me he was great. He was well — he was giving. I never missed anything. He even let me call him dad." She paused. "Maybe he was evil to others, so..." She shrugged. "I can't help that."
Wish bit her lip, thinking. That doesn't solve even half of my questions.
"Why do you ask?" Vish asked. "Do you know something?"
"No," Wish said. "Just curious."
She turned to Kali. "I am sorry for bringing up old wounds."
"No, it's okay. I am strong. And I have men I call my men right now." She glanced over at Zael and Vael, who were somewhere across the hall talking with Hyrin and Miria. "They are like family to me. They give me the comfort I never knew I needed." She smirked.
"Speaking of which," Vish said, changing the subject with visible intention, "where the hell did they take Nyla's body?"
"They went and burnt it," Wish said simply.
"Good," Kali said.
"What did it feel like?" Vish asked. "Being in soul form?"
