Sam was sitting on a chair, waiting for the first round to finish.
He was texting Rumi about the first test.
"Suzuki."
Sam sighed—immediately aware of who called him out.
"Yes, Aizawa?"
He saw Aizawa walk over to him.
"Shouldn't you be watching the others?"
Sam asked.
"I just wanted to… congratulate you. Well done."
He hesitantly spit out—clearly feeling embarrassed.
Sam snorted seeing this.
"Yeah, yeah. I felt like I was bullying the poor brats. But what can we do?"
He admitted—remembering how easily he stomped on those kids.
Aizawa shook his head.
"It's fine. It simply meant it wasn't time for them to be heroes yet."
He said.
Sam looked up at him with a raised eyebrow.
"Yeah. To be honest, are any of them ready to be heroes?"
Sam asked—watching the exams from the monitors in the waiting room.
Aizawa stared at Sam in intrigue.
"Oh? Why is that?"
"These kids… all of them… they are weak. They spent their childhoods playing games, imagining they were All Might and living happy lives. Happiness is a great thing… but without suffering, they can't grow. The only reason I am who I am today is because of all the suffering I endured in Africa. I wouldn't wish my fate on anyone, but this so-called 'era of peace' is about to come to an end. The world's about to show how cruel it can be."
Sam said—his face calm and serious, showing no deception.
Aizawa's eyes widened at that.
"You mean… you think that something's going to happen?"
Sam stared right into Aizawa's eyes.
"I don't think, Aizawa. I know. The moment All Might fell was the moment the blanket covering all your eyes was pulled off. That blanket kept these people safe for years now, making them feel safe and comfortable. Now, they are going to see the true nature of humanity that All Might kept buried."
Sam ominously said—not holding anything back.
Aizawa was speechless.
He stared at Sam—who was also staring back at him—with chills down his spine.
He sometimes forgets that Sam's just an 18, almost 19 year old boy.
He shook his head.
"I'm going back to the stands. Good luck on the next round."
Aizawa said as he walked back to his spot next to Miss Joke.
Sam didn't respond and brought his eyes back to the monitor.
However, he narrowed his eyes as he looked at one contestant.
'Camie Utsushiro…'
———
"SAM SUZUKI! YOU'RE AMAZING! HOW DID YOU PASS SO QUICKLY?!?!?"
Sam was minding his own business—watching the other students—when the second person to pass the first round came up to him and screamed at him.
Sam winced at his obnoxiously loud voice.
Despite being annoyed, Sam was cautious about his boy.
"Inasa… right?"
He asked—hesitantly.
The boy nods vigorously.
"Yep! We met earlier!"
Sam nodded.
He recalled how the boy suddenly unleashed a hurricane that sent numerous balls into 120 people's targets—eliminating them.
"That was impressive."
Sam admitted.
"Thanks! I saw how quick you were and I was so moved! That and the hard work everyone was putting into this test! I wanted to go all out!"
Sam looked at the bizarre boy with interest.
"Really? Interesting."
Sam made sure to remember this boy. He knew he was definitely strong. He would even say the boy was stronger than Shoto and Bakugo.
Inasa sat down next to him and observed the rest of the first round with him.
While doing this, he was constantly chatting off Sam's ear.
He would be lying if he said that Inasa wasn't annoying. But his positivity was not too bad. In a world as dark as this one, having some bright lights in it was not a bad thing.
Soon, more and more kids began to fill the waiting room.
Many of them stared at both Sam and Inasa with shock.
Sam's speedy victory stunned them all and made them rethink their opinions on quirkless people.
He also saw some of his classmates begin to enter.
When they saw him, he just nodded in approval—all the while letting Inasa keep talking.
His classmates didn't interrupt, but that was fine. He was still focused on Camie Utsushiro. He didn't know why, but he felt something… off about her. And then, he saw how she looked at Izuku when they met earlier today.
'What was that look she gave Izuku? I could swear I felt a killing intent from her… but her eyes showed no hatred. They showed… lust? What the fuck is wrong with this girl?'
He was wary of the girl and made sure to look at for her.
When she passed, she acted normally around her friends, but he saw the moment Izuku passed and entered the waiting room, she had a large smile.
However, the smile wasn't a kind one… it was that of a maniac.
'Most interesting… who are you, girl?'
He thought as he watched her from afar.
———
"Sam! You big meanie!"
The first round successfully ended and his entire class passed.
This didn't shock him—considering his classmates were much more experienced in battle than the rest of the brats.
After the first round officially ended they marched up to Sam and looked at him with pouty faces—specifically Mina and, most likely, Toru (despite being unable to see her face).
"Yeah! Why did you abandon us?"
Toru demanded with a her arms crossed.
Sam sighed.
"I knew you guys would pass. You didn't need me. Besides. I am not a head-on fighter like the rest of you."
Sam replied.
"Hmm… to hide in darkness and strike from behind is the way of a shadow master."
Tokoyami said with his usual Chunnibiyo attitude.
Sam deadpanned as he really didn't know what he meant by "Shadow Master."
"Anyways, you guys passed and you didn't it yourselves. That's all that matters, right?"
Sam said—reassuring them that he believed in them.
"All right… I'll let you off this time."
Mina said with a cute pout.
"Anyways, how did you pass so quickly?"
Jiro asked.
"Yeah! I was wondering too! Did you use that gun? Or that sword? Did you use some strategy that allowed you to get the jump on them. Maybe you…"
Izuku started muttering again.
Before Sam could punch Izuku for being annoying, Bakugo stopped it.
"SHUT THE HELL UP DEKU!!"
He yelled—making the green-haired boy bring his hands to his mouth in fear.
The rest of the class wasn't even fazed by this. It was Izuku and Bakugo being themselves as always.
"Yeah! I almost forgot! You met the Camie chick! I swear she got naked for Midoriya!"
Sero chipped in to Mineta and Kaminari.
Sam raised an eyebrow—not aware of this.
Sam, Sero, Izuku, Mineta and Kaminari look over at Camie. The moment she sees Izuku, she happily waves at him.
Sam narrowed his eyes.
"You bastard! You got to see that hot chick naked?!?"
"You're so lucky!"
Mineta and Kaminari begin to attack Izuku for getting a peep show.
"What?!? Wait, let me explain!"
He tries to explain himself, but the two perverts weren't hearing it.
Sam still kept his eyes on Camie. He really felt something was wrong with the girl.
His eyes then caught sight of Uraraka.
She looked downcast. Like a lost puppy.
Sam felt his cheeks redden at the sight.
'She's like a sad puppy!'
He had to compose himself.
"Alright. You are the 100 students who passed the first round. It's time for the next round."
All conversations were cut off and Mineta and Kaminari stopped attacking Midoriya.
"For the next part, you will be put in a scenario where civilians are in danger in the midst of a villain attack. Of course, there is no villain attack so the villain will be a hero who is acting as a villain. The civilians will be played by the 'Help Us' company. They are actors who will pretend to be injured and they will also assess your actions during this test."
He motions to the merry band of individuals who are pretending to be hurt or ill.
Sam just gawked at the sheer ridiculousness of this test.
He pinched the bridge of his nose—mentally cringing from this whole thing.
'I swear to god. This shits more painful than the fucking Gaboon.'
———
"It's okay. I'm here. What's your status?"
Sam said as he was helping up an actor who was injured under some fake rubble.
"What's your status? Minus! That's way too technical!"
The elderly actor said—marking something on his notepad.
Sam's lips twitched in annoyance.
'Fuck. This.'
He thought—looking over the visible wounds on the actors body, which are just a head wound with fake blood and he is holding his arm in pain.
"Here. I'll perform first aid. Hold still."
Sam took a medkit he kept on his person and immediately began using it to clean the wound on the head.
"Hmm… good medical care. Plus!"
The actor declared.
Sam sighed and put a fake splint on the actors arm, before gently picking him up.
"I have healed the most serious wounds. The rest can be administered at the safe zone. So hold on."
"This way of carrying is crude! Minus!"
Sam had him held like a sack of potatoes. This was the most effective way to carry someone because while doing an evac, you might need your hand free to shoot your weapon.
Sam wanted to contest this guys point but just rolled his eyes before putting him into a princess carry.
"There. Now we'll head out."
The old man nodded in contentment.
Sam kept a good pace to head towards the zone where the mock civilians are to be extracted to.
He saw a lot of other students carrying someone and he kept hearing the bitching of the actors.
"You forgot to reassure me! Minus!"
"You're too rough when you pick me up! Minus!"
"Nicely done! You were very gentle! Plus!"
"You did great patchwork! Plus!"
He found the fake medical tent and found a bed that was open.
He gently placed the old man down with care.
"Hmm… not bad. Plus!"
The old man said.
Sam sighed in relief. Relief to be free of that old man.
BOOM!
Sam's head spun to another area and saw a large cloud of dust.
"So the fake villain has arrived."
Sam said—interested in seeing who they got for this charade.
It's been past ten minutes since the test started and he had to deal with two actors so far. He got a whole bunch of nagging for his unheroic performance that would make the victim feel at ease.
Sam wasn't the type to ease the nerves of others so he decided to focus on locating and extracting injured to a safe area. He was working with some of his class mates.
He saw Izuku getting bitched at and how he immediately tried to act like All Might, which Sam scoffed at.
He decided to head over to the dust cloud and saw a few other students there already.
He saw someone, Yo Shindo if he could recall, and ran up to him.
"What's the situation?"
He asked—waiting for the dust cloud to settle.
"The villains have finally arrived."
He also saw Izuku, Shoto, Tokoyami, Mina and Ojiro.
Sam narrowed his eyes as the villain became visible.
"Of all the people they could use, they chose shamu?"
Sam complained out loud—making Yo Shindo snicker.
The hero playing the villain was revealed to be Gang Orca.
"Looks like it."
Shindo then turned his attention to Izuku.
"Evacuate the first aid station. I'll stay and keep the villains at bay."
He ordered.
Izuku nodded—understanding what he must do.
"I'll stay behind. If I'm not mistaken, Shamu over here can paralyze someone with his whale powers. It's some bullshit. But if he has the mutation of an Orca, maybe that place also is a weak point."
Sam theorized to Shindo.
Shindo looked at Sam with skepticism, but remembering who Sam was, he thought he should listen.
"What do you think we should do?"
He asked.
"Keep him at bay. I'll sneak up on him and bring that bitch back to Seaworld."
Yo Shindo smiled—amused by Sam's jokes.
"I got it."
To their surprise, Gang Orca goes to attack the fleeing Izuku.
Shatter!
Suddenly, a wall of ice intercepted a blast of his paralyzing powers, causing the wall of ice to shatter.
The others who were with Shoto also began to aid with the evacuation efforts.
Sam saw that the other fake villains were incapacitated by Shoto.
Sam saw this as his chance and the moment Gang Orca turned to his men, he quickly ran to a blind spot.
He found a hiding space that kept him hidden from Gang Orcas sights.
He then saw the free villains that were frozen begin to attack again.
Whoosh!
Those villains are quickly blown away by a massive wind blast.
Inasa lands near Shoto.
Shoto sees this and begins to prepare his fire.
"Go and help with the evacuation. I can handle this."
Shoto then unleashed his fire at Gang Orca and just as it seemed like it was going to hit the target.
Whoosh!
A blast of wind veered the flames off course.
Shoto—annoyed by this—turns to Inasa.
"Listen! He blocked my ice! My fire should work!"
Inasa scoffed.
"Or you're just trying to hog all the glory. After all, you're Endeavors son!"
Shoto was pissed off at that.
"What did you say?!?"
Shoto demanded—not pleased with being compared to his bastard father.
Sam—still hiding and waiting to get a jump on Orca—sees the little feud between the two of them.
He also looks at Gang Orca staring at their spat, almost looking amused.
Gang Orca then orders his men to attack with cement guns.
Seeing the men attack Shoto and Inasa, Sam sees an opening.
He rushes at him from the side—unable to reach him from behind—and takes out his taser sword.
Orca quickly turned and saw Sam rush him.
Before he could use his quirk on him, Sam already had him in range and swung his sword at the orca man.
Gang Orca blocked with his arm—but to his surprise, that's what Sam wanted.
Bzzzttt!
He immediately activated the taser, causing an electric blast to hit his orca skin.
"AHHHH!!!"
Gang Orca howled in pain.
After a few seconds, Sam lets Gang Orca fall to a knee.
"I figured that would work. After all, Orcas have very sensitive skin and a nervous system that uses electrical signals, electric shock from an external source to an Orca can be fatal. But that's for Orcas. You're a human with an Orca mutation, so you should live… but I think you'll find it hard to move for the moment."
Sam explained with a shit-eating smirk.
Gang Orca was writhing in pain, feeling his sensitive skin burning from the shock. He tried to move but couldn't.
"Damn… it…"
He barely spat out. In a show of power, he unleashes one of his sound waves at Sam.
WHROOOM!
He dived to the side, right before the sound wave hit him. Still, he felt his ears ache from the loud sound.
"Damn!"
He held his ears in pain, before taking out his sword again and giving him another shock.
Sam then walked behind Gang Orca and saw the blow hole.
He sheathed his taser sword and took out his tranq pistol.
He aimed right at the blow hole.
Bang!
Right into the blow hole.
Before Gang Orca could yell in pain, he was already passing out from the tranquilizer.
Thud!
Gang Orca then fell face first onto the ground.
Sam stood victoriously over Gang Orca.
He looked up from the hero and saw his classmates and the other students staring with shock at the collapsed hero.
Sam just smirked.
"That's how it's done."
He said as he holstered his pistol and walked off.
