A flash of darkness, then blinding light. A chaotic scene materialized before Dexter's eyes.
He blinked instinctively, taking two seconds to adjust before recognizing the location.
The civilian docks at Port Royal. Right where Jack Sparrow steps onto the sinking boat in the beginning of the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
Sent straight here. Convenient, Dexter thought.
He looked to his left and right.
To the left: Daijiu and a frozen, eyes-shut Bianca. To the right: Little Crow and an equally statuesque Carl.
He checked himself. Their modern clothes stuck out like sore thumbs in this 18th-century setting.
This won't do.
Suddenly, the System panel popped up.

> [Identity established. You, Bianca Greene, and Carl Gallagher are now pirates.]

> [Current Timeline: The beginning of the movie.]

Dexter was a veteran at this point. He didn't waste time and immediately popped the free Bronze Loot Box.
Inside were three outfits, clearly tailored for them.
[Equip!]
Whoosh.
Silently and instantly, their appearances changed. They now blended perfectly with the locals.
The sensation was bizarre, exactly like playing a video game.
Dexter found it amusing and took a moment to feel out the new gear.
Honestly? It was uncomfortable. The clothes and shoes of this era felt rough and scratchy against the skin. It was probably just the coarse materials they used back then.
Dexter didn't know much about textiles, and after a moment of consideration, he decided not to care. Compared to the fun he was about to have, a little itchiness was irrelevant.
He looked at the countdown on the panel.
Two minutes remaining.
He glanced around at the locals, then at Bianca and Carl.
The locals acted like NPCs, completely ignoring their existence. Bianca and Carl remained frozen, as if under a paralysis spell.
Interestingly, Daijiu and Little Crow were functioning normally, looking around with curious eyes, shaking their heads and flapping about.
I guess Bianca and Carl will reboot once the protection period ends?
Dexter figured that was the case and didn't worry about it.
Well, might as well prep.
He checked his balance.

Not a massive amount, but enough for the short term.
He started opening chests.

This was getting interesting.
Dexter wanted to keep gambling on boxes, but the countdown hit the final ten seconds.
Guess that's it for now.
He quickly assigned two [Pirate Life] cards and two rapiers to Bianca and Carl.
Instantly, swords appeared at their hips.
He had to admit...
Carl actually looked the part. The kid looked like a genuine little scallywag.
And Bianca? She looked dashing. Whether she looked like a "real" pirate didn't matter; what mattered was that she looked incredible. It was a full-on sexy pirate roleplay fantasy come to life.
Heh. Later on, I definitely need to take advantage of this look, Dexter thought. No man can resist a woman in uniform.
Smiling, he took out the pipe, struck the flint to light the tobacco, and took a deep drag.
Ding.
Protection period ended.
In a split second, Bianca and Carl's eyes snapped open.
Naturally, they were both confused as hell.
At the same time, the locals finally noticed them, casting curious glances their way.
Dexter ignored the stares, exhaling a puff of smoke leisurely as he waited for his companions to buffer.
One second, two seconds, three seconds...
Carl grinned, his smile widening rapidly. "Awesome!!!"
Carl was hyped.
Fear? Nonexistent.
He looked down at himself. "Holy sht! I'm a pirate? This dream rocks!"
Bianca was slowly coming to her senses too, noticing her outfit. unlike Carl, she was panicking. Her eyes went wide as she looked at Dexter.
"Dexter, this dream is so weird. Where the hell are we?"
Hearing this, Dexter flashed a wicked, mischievous grin.
"Excuse me, beautiful. Who are you? Do I know you?"
Bianca froze, completely flabbergasted. "?????"
