The blue interface flared with a brighter, more refined silver light, signaling the transition to the advanced reward category.
"Alright, time for the main event," Sparkle announced, her tone shifting to professional pride. "This is the one that really impressed the algorithms."
[ ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED! ]
Tier: 2 (Advanced)
Name: The Architect of Animosity
Description: You successfully orchestrated a scenario where Severus Snape was publicly humiliated with a water balloon, and you managed to manipulate Harry Potter into being the one to throw it. You achieved this without resorting to physical force, magical compulsion, or the Imperius Curse. You used pure, unadulterated psychological leverage. The Marauders should take frantic notes, and the Weasley twins should begin worshipping you as their new, chaotic god.
Reward: Universal Sense (Passive Ability).
Orion leaned forward, resting his hands on his desk. He read the description twice, his brow furrowing slightly. "Universal Sense. What exactly does that encompass? Enhanced hearing? Better eyesight?"
"Basically," Sparkle explained, projecting a small, anatomical diagram of Orion onto the screen, "the System noticed you getting tagged by random water balloons during the fight, despite your best dodging efforts. It also calculated that, in a genuine combat scenario, your general situational awareness is... well, to put it politely, kind of shit."
"I beg your pardon," Orion said, bristling slightly. "I have trained extensively with the combat dummy. My reflexes are exceptional."
"Your frontal reflexes are exceptional," Sparkle corrected dryly. "Because the dummy attacks you from the front. But if someone sneaks up behind you, or if a spell is cast from a blind spot... you are just as vulnerable as anyone else. A stray Blasting Curse to the back of the head doesn't care how good your shield charm is if you don't know it's coming."
She highlighted the area around the anatomical diagram in a pulsing, red aura.
"With the Universal Sense, any active hostile action directed toward you will be sensed instantly. This includes anything physical that attempts to strike you, or anything magical that intends to cause harm. It's not just water balloons. It detects incoming spells, physical projectiles, and even subtle, invisible assaults like Legilimency probes."
Orion's eyes widened. "A localized, omni-directional threat detection system."
"Exactly," Sparkle confirmed. "Anything hostile entering your immediate sphere of influence, and you will feel a distinct, unmistakable 'ping' in your awareness, detailing the direction and approximate velocity of the threat."
She added a small clock icon next to the diagram.
"Pair this passive warning system with your active 'Time' skill, and you can basically dodge any attack from any angle, assess the battlefield in frozen time, and deal with your attacker swiftly before they even realize their spell missed."
Orion sat back, absorbing the sheer, overwhelming tactical advantage of the combination. He was essentially untouchable. A sniper could fire from a mile away, and he would feel the bullet coming in time to freeze reality and step aside.
"But," Orion mused, his analytical mind searching for the flaw. "If it senses everything... won't I be constantly overwhelmed by sensory input? Will I feel every drop of rain as a projectile? Every gust of wind? It sounds maddening."
"Normally, yes, this ability would be entirely too much sensory overload for a standard user," Sparkle assured him. "But because you possess Mind Arts Level 2, your new 'Sense' is automatically partitioned and compartmentalized within your mental vault. It won't bother your conscious mind with meaningless data like a random beetle crawling across the floor."
She flashed a small, grinning emoticon.
"It will only react if that beetle specifically tries to crawl up your leg or hide in your hair. Think of it like 'Spider-Sense', but highly selective and magically tuned. As for what it explicitly considers 'hostile', well, the ability is linked directly to your cognitive matrix. Whatever your mind subconsciously classifies as a threat will register."
"So, if a first-year throws a paper airplane at me as a joke, it won't trigger unless I genuinely perceive paper airplanes as a threat," Orion reasoned.
"Precisely."
Orion let out a slow, satisfied breath. He looked down at his hands, imagining the invisible, protective web of awareness now expanding outward from his core.
"Well," Orion said, a dry, sarcastic smirk touching his lips, "that is excellent. Now, all I need to do is learn a localized sticking charm for my hands and feet, and I can probably start swinging around Muggle London in blue and red spandex."
He stood up, pushing his chair under the desk.
"And the best part is, I didn't even have to test a radioactive spider bite, nor did I require an Uncle Ben to tragically die to motivate me."
"With great power, comes great... arrogance, apparently," Sparkle sighed dramatically.
"Whatever," Orion chuckled, moving toward the ladder. "Let's sleep. I have my first official detention to serve this weekend, and I need to be well-rested to properly annoy Professor McGonagall."
He climbed out of the expanded trunk, the heavy lid shutting behind him with a solid thud. The Slytherin dormitory was quiet, the only sound the rhythmic breathing of his housemates behind their drawn curtains.
Orion slid into his own bed. He glanced at the foot of the mattress.
Robin the Niffler was already there, curled into a tight, black, furry ball in the corner, clutching a shiny silver Sickle tightly against his chest like a teddy bear.
Orion smiled faintly, pulling the heavy velvet curtains shut, plunging the bed into absolute darkness.
"Goodnight, Sparkle," Orion whispered into the quiet space.
"Night, boss."
"Goodnight, Robin," Orion added softly, reaching out to gently pat the sleeping creature's head.
The Niffler let out a soft, contented squeak, snuggling deeper into the duvet.
Orion closed his eyes, his mind settling into a deep, protected calm.
