Crackle... crackle... crackle...
The sharp sound of electricity filled the air. Lisa's elemental power striking the enemies. Not pleasant, not unpleasant either.
Lisa had barely finished gesturing to Bonanus when she charged into battle. She was so fast that Bonanus barely had time to react.
Seeing this, Bonanus's eyes widened in surprise. This woman was really fast. As expected of Lisa.
Just as she was thinking that, Bonanus leaned out to watch Lisa's battle, but instead of seeing the fight, she saw a pile of charred corpses.
Whether they were big Hilichurls or small ones, none had escaped Lisa's grasp. They all lay motionless on the water's surface.
Electric currents still crackled across the water, and the smell of grilled meat wafted into her nose...
Bonanus could confirm that these corpses were fully cooked. They could probably be used as charcoal by now.
After finishing off the enemies, Lisa turned to look at Bonanus with a tilted head and a smile that sent shivers down her spine.
"Cutie, big sister's all done. You can come out now."
Damn. For some reason, even though Lisa was speaking in a perfectly normal tone, it sounded like a demon's whisper to Bonanus.
It couldn't be helped. Lisa's expression combined with the scene of charred corpses was enough to terrify anyone.
And Bonanus had an overactive imagination, so it wasn't surprising that she felt nervous.
With that thought, Bonanus instinctively pressed her legs together. Big sister was truly terrifying. She absolutely couldn't lose control.
She took a deep breath, shook off the unpleasant thoughts, and stepped out from behind the stone wall to stand before Lisa.
"Sister Lisa, if there's no water around, I can help. I do have a Hydro Vision, you know." Bonanus smiled awkwardly.
"I know. Then I'll leave the next fight to you, cutie. Big sister's a little tired. I'll just watch." Lisa touched her cheek and pretended to look exhausted, clearly joking.
Seeing Lisa's Oscar-worthy performance, Bonanus couldn't help but give her a mental round of applause. Lisa would make a great actress.
"Leave it to me." Bonanus nodded. There was nothing wrong with that. It meant more karmic debt for her.
Lisa nodded in response. She wasn't about to let this cute girl fight alone. She was a foreigner here to help. If Lisa just slacked off, it would damage the Knights' reputation.
She also wasn't worried about anything happening to this cute girl. After all, she had helped Mondstadt deal with plenty of monsters. Her combat skills spoke for themselves.
Speaking of which, this cute girl had supposedly been knocked out by a small group of Hilichurls before, hadn't she?
Bonanus's sudden display of power was quite intriguing. She wondered how that happened.
That other cute girl, Noelle, seemed pretty close to this Fashui. Lisa could ask her sometime. She probably knew something.
Lisa filed that thought away. It was just harmless curiosity.
...
They continued forward, carefully avoiding more traps. Bonanus followed behind Lisa, staying alert for any surprise monster attacks.
"Sister Lisa, what do you think of that traveler?" Bonanus asked, making conversation.
"That traveler? I'd say she's a mysterious one. The type with many secrets." Lisa replied calmly.
Just as she finished speaking, their attention was drawn to a collapsed section nearby.
Beneath the rubble was a deep chasm. Falling down there would mean never finding the body. It looked terrifying.
Near the collapsed area, a "Diluc" Hilichurl stood dumbly holding a club, staring at the drop below. Who knew what he was looking at.
Without hesitation, Bonanus crept over and kicked the Hilichurl in the back. The strike sent the "Diluc" Hilichurl tumbling down in confusion.
What the hell just happened? An ambush!
That Hilichurl probably never expected to be kicked off a cliff while spacing out. No honor, old lady.
After pulling off that dirty trick, Bonanus opened her karmic debt panel to check her progress. Since "Diluc" Hilichurls were stronger, they gave more karmic debt.
A regular Hilichurl gave 15 points. A "Diluc" Hilichurl gave 25.
Delicious.
Current Karmic Debt: 14,230 / ???
Looking at the karmic debt she had earned over the past few days, Bonanus nodded with satisfaction. Her efficiency had definitely improved. That was progress.
Once her body fully recovered and she returned to Liyue Harbor, she could bring her third sister back with this kind of efficiency.
She was truly an excellent worker. In her previous life, she would have been a "top talent" recognized by her boss.
"Hey, hey, cutie, what are you spacing out about? Are you feeling unwell?"
Seeing Bonanus drift off into her own thoughts, Lisa stepped forward and waved her slender hand in front of Bonanus's face.
"Ah? Oh! Nothing, nothing. I was just thinking about something happy." Bonanus quickly shook her head.
"Something happy?" Lisa tilted her head in confusion.
"Just some Liyue jokes. Even if I told you, you probably wouldn't get them." Bonanus explained casually.
Lisa nodded. That made sense. Jokes from other countries might be funny to locals, but foreigners wouldn't get the punchline.
"Let's keep moving. Try not to get distracted again. A Hilichurl might sneak up and whack you with a club." Lisa covered her mouth and laughed.
"Don't worry! I've got this. Everything's fine." Bonanus patted her modest chest seriously.
"That's not quite what I meant." Lisa patted Bonanus's silly little head with an amused smile.
Hilichurls might not be smart, but they were surprisingly good at ambushes. Their brains were probably all devoted to combat.
"That's what I have you for, Sister Lisa! As long as you're here, beautiful and powerful, none of this matters." Bonanus said seriously, laying on the flattery thick.
Lisa laughed, covering her mouth and squinting her eyes. No woman could resist being called beautiful. No one.
Everyone had a love for beauty.
"Alright, you smooth talker. But I'm here now. When I'm not, you need to be careful." Lisa lightly tapped Bonanus's forehead with her finger.
As they chatted, Bonanus's gaze wandered to a nearby chest.
For someone who had played Genshin Impact, a treasure chest was irresistible. Impossible not to notice.
"Sister Lisa, there's a chest over there!" Bonanus pointed at a worn-down chest in the corner. Who knew what was inside?
It couldn't be just cabbages like in the game, right? If it was, they'd probably be rotten cabbages.
"Oh? Didn't expect to find something left behind here." Lisa looked over with interest. She walked up to it, curious about its contents.
They arrived at the chest, thick with dust. It looked like it had been sitting there for ages.
Lisa carefully opened it, afraid that if she moved too fast, dust would fly up and get on her clothes and skin.
Bonanus leaned in curiously, wondering if there might be Primogems inside.
Creak~
The chest opened, revealing a pile of old books. The covers were damaged, making the original titles unreadable. There were also some worn scrolls.
"Oh! These are collectibles with research value!" Lisa said delightedly. What luck to find something she liked in a place like this.
Bonanus just shrugged, uninterested. Just books. How boring.
She helped Lisa store the books in her space, and they continued with their mission.
As they drew closer, the turbulent elemental energy grew stronger. Lisa and Bonanus knew that their task was almost complete.
