Above Mondstadt, dark clouds rolled endlessly, blotting out the sun and plunging the land into shadow.
A massive blue-white dragon circled beneath the clouds, letting out earth-shaking roars.
Roar! Roar! Roar!
This dragon was Dvalin. His roars were as majestic and terrifying as ever, making the very heavens tremble. But beneath that power lay anger, pain, hatred, and confusion.
Once, Dvalin had loved everything about Mondstadt. Now, poison had corrupted his mind. His pale purple eyes, tainted by the venom, burned with hatred for the city he once protected.
Over the long years, even the clearest gem could become clouded with dust. Even a proud dragon could be consumed by corruption and resentment.
One of the Four Winds of Mondstadt, the Dragon of the East, Dvalin, had fallen.
Dvalin possessed four razor-sharp claws covered in hard scales, making them both offensive and defensive weapons. His powerful physical attacks could tear enemies to shreds.
His blue-white fur and the long feathers on either side of his tail swayed in the wind like beautiful ornaments.
Four massive wings allowed him to soar through the sky. The deep blue and light blue patterns on his wings were mesmerizing, radiating a soft glow.
In the sky, the creature the people of Mondstadt called Stormterror beat his enormous wings relentlessly. No matter how fierce the wind, it could not stop him from flying.
His massive jaw gave him a fierce and menacing appearance, brimming with malice.
A pair of large horns crowned his head, the fur around them adding a touch of beauty to his form.
But on his back, two pairs of black poisonous spikes tormented him, feeding his rage.
His eyes, clouded by poisoned blood, gazed down upon Mondstadt, now shrouded in tornadoes. The sight was terrifying.
A massive tornado swept up a blonde girl named Lumine, hurling her high into the air. Fortunately, she had just received a gift from the Outrider Amber.
A Wind Glider.
Without it, falling from that height would have turned her into a bloody mess.
Lumine struggled to control the Wind Glider. The fierce wind made it hard to breathe. She squinted, doing her best to stay balanced.
Roar!
High above, Dvalin noticed the blonde girl caught in the tornado. He assumed she was there to hunt him.
Fury ignited within him. His already clouded eyes grew even darker. He turned and charged straight at her.
Lumine panicked. This was bad! The dragon was too fast. She couldn't dodge in her current state!
Just as she braced herself for impact, a surge of deep blue elemental energy appeared beside her.
Hydro energy. It pushed her to the side, narrowly saving her from Dvalin's charge.
The push threw her off balance, but she quickly stabilized herself.
Lumine never expected to run into this the moment she got her Wind Glider. Was she just unlucky?
She looked helpless. The Anemo power she had just gained wasn't enough to fight a dragon. What could she do?
Just as she was frozen in the sky, a gentle female voice spoke softly in her ear.
"I lend you my adeptal energy. Go forth, brave traveler. Drive away the dragon."
"Who are you? Where are you? What should I do now?" Lumine looked around frantically, but there was no one there. How strange.
It couldn't have been Paimon. Paimon was still on the ground.
"Don't be afraid. Accept my power. It will guide you through." The gentle voice continued.
As the words faded, deep blue scales began to form around Lumine. The Hydro energy merged with her Anemo power, forming wind-infused water blades.
"Don't worry about getting hurt. The Hydro energy will heal your wounds." The voice faded after that.
Who was that gentle voice helping Lumine? It was Bonanus.
While fighting nearby, Bonanus had been lending her power to the legendary Traveler.
She didn't know why she had said such dramatic words, but the situation was urgent. She didn't have time to think.
With Bonanus's adeptal energy flowing through her, Lumine gritted her teeth. She looked ahead at Dvalin and flung the wind-infused water blades at him, striking him hard.
She could feel her elemental power growing stronger. The Hydro energy around her formed a protective shield, keeping her safe and shielding her from the wind.
Dvalin let out a pained roar. The elemental attacks were clearly effective.
Seeing this, Lumine pressed her advantage. She flew forward, continuing her assault on the dragon.
Roar! Roar! Roar!
Dvalin howled in pain and beat his four wings hard, trying to put distance between them.
"This is bad! My elemental power can't reach him!" Lumine said urgently. What could she do? The power from that voice was strong, but it had its limits.
"Speaking of which, why is my Wind Glider staying airborne for so long?" Now that the danger had momentarily passed, she had time to wonder about her glider.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Just as Dvalin was getting further away, a gentler wind pushed her Wind Glider forward, closing the gap in an instant.
"I have called upon the thousand-year winds to aid you, so that you will not fall."
"The wind will carry you to the dragon. Now, use the power granted by the other to break through this danger." A boyish voice spoke in Lumine's ear.
"Who are you?" Lumine asked, confused. Two unfamiliar voices. Could one of them be the Anemo Archon of Mondstadt?
Feeling the wind's push, Lumine grew even more puzzled. But there was no time to think. The dragon was right in front of her. She had to keep attacking.
She would investigate these strange phenomena later.
With resolve in her eyes, Lumine drew on the power of both a god and an adeptus, striking Dvalin again and again.
After a fierce battle...
Roar! Roar! Roar!
Another deafening roar. Then, as if receiving a command, Dvalin shot up into the clouds and vanished.
The people hiding inside their homes had watched the aerial battle unfold. Even the knights were in awe of this foreigner's power.
In everyone's eyes, it was the blonde girl in the sky who had saved them, who had driven away the dragon that brought the storm.
Outside Mondstadt's city gate
The monsters that had been attacking retreated the moment Dvalin left, scattering away from the town.
The knights defending the gate let out sighs of relief. They looked up and cheered the blonde girl who had defeated the dragon.
With the power to fight a dragon, this outlander was no ordinary person.
