Nyla sprawled nearby on her stomach, chin propped on both hands, the gold-and-crimson curiosity engine flickering under her skin like a restless second heart. Every so often she would grin at something only she could feel and mutter a quiet challenge to the inheritance itself.
Runar watched them for a long moment.
Absolute Comprehension showed him the early branches of their paths forming with quiet clarity. Both inheritances had taken root cleanly. Both women were already beginning the real work. They would be fine here for a while.
