Chapter 51 — The Storm After Calm 💞🌧️
The rain hadn't stopped.
But it wasn't wild anymore — just a soft, rhythmic drizzle that filled the Watson house with peace.
Jay and Keifer were on the couch, a blanket over their legs, half-watching a movie neither of them cared about.
Keifer had his head resting on her shoulder, hair still a little damp from when he'd gone outside to check the car.
Jay's fingers absentmindedly played with the hem of the blanket.
It felt strange — being this calm after everything that had happened.
"Hey," Keifer murmured softly, breaking the silence. "What's going on in that pretty head of yours?"
She smiled faintly. "Just thinking."
"About?"
"Everything," she said quietly. "The school… us… how weird it feels to finally have peace for once."
He tilted his head, looking up at her. "You don't like it?"
Jay chuckled softly. "I do. I just… I'm not used to it."
Keifer reached for her hand, gently intertwining their fingers. "Then get used to it, Mrs. Watson. You deserve calm days too."
Her eyes softened. "You really think so?"
"I know so," he whispered, squeezing her hand. "You've fought enough storms. Let someone else fight for you once in a while."
Jay turned toward him slowly, her heart swelling.
"You," she said, "are too good to be true."
Keifer grinned, eyes glinting with warmth. "Nope. Just yours."
She laughed softly, shaking her head. "You and your lines."
"What? They work," he teased, inching closer.
"Keifer…" she whispered, already knowing what was coming.
He didn't answer — just brushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear, eyes locked on hers.
This time, when he kissed her, it wasn't playful or teasing.
It was soft.
Tender.
A quiet reminder that even after chaos and danger and all their scars — love could still be gentle.
When he pulled away, Jay felt tears sting her eyes.
"Hey, hey…" Keifer murmured, wiping one away with his thumb. "Why're you crying, love?"
She smiled through it. "Because… this feels real. Like… home."
Keifer's grin faltered — not in sadness, but in awe.
He cupped her face gently, whispering, "You are my home, sweetheart." 💞
She laughed through the tears and leaned her forehead against his. "You're so dramatic sometimes."
"Maybe," he said, smiling softly, "but only for you."
☁️
They spent the rest of the day like that — half teasing, half talking, wrapped in warmth and quiet laughter.
Every now and then, Keifer would make a dumb joke just to see her smile again, and Jay would flick his arm in mock annoyance.
But each touch, each look, each tiny laugh — it all meant more than words ever could.
And as evening came, the storm faded completely, leaving behind nothing but stillness… and a love that felt stronger than ever. 🌧️💞
