Chapter 49 - 46: Late Bells & Hidden Smiles

Chapter 46: Late Bells & Hidden Smiles šŸ’«

The first period bell rang, and everyone rushed into class like it was a race. Section E being Section E—of course, half of them were late.

"Mutya, hurry up!" Felix shouted from the hallway, holding the door open dramatically like a butler.

Jay rolled her eyes, laughing. "You're acting like a doorman now?"

Keifer chuckled beside her. "He wishes. He's just trying to earn extra attendance points."

The class erupted in laughter. Even Miss Cindy looked up from her desk, trying not to smile.

Jay and Keifer slid into their seats, still holding back grins. Their shoulders brushed, and for a moment, it felt like everything else blurred—the noise, the chaos, the endless notebooks.

Keifer leaned over. "You didn't text me last night."

"I was studying," she whispered back.

He smirked. "For exams or for ignoring me?"

Jay glared at him, pretending to focus on her book. "Both."

He laughed quietly, that deep sound that always made her heart stutter. 😳

Miss Cindy turned around suddenly. "Keifer Watson If you're done flirting, maybe you can solve this equation?"

The whole class gasped dramatically.

Jay bit her lip, whispering, "Good luck, genius."

Keifer stood up, walked to the board, and actually solved it perfectly—then turned back with that smug little grin. "Anything for you, Mrs WatsonšŸ’—."

The class lost it. šŸ˜šŸ’ž

Miss Cindy sighed, fighting a smile. "Sit down, Romeo."

Jay groaned, face buried in her hands. "You're impossible."

"Yeah," Keifer whispered, sitting down, "but I'm your impossible."

The rest of the day passed in a blur of laughter, group projects, and stolen glances. At lunch, they sat under the same old tree in the courtyard, the one where everything first started.

Jay leaned against the trunk, munching on chips. "You know, we've been through too much for two people who still have math homework."

Keifer smiled, plucking a leaf from her hair. "Yeah. But I'd go through it all again if it meant ending up here—with you."

Jay froze for a second, her chest warm. "You're seriously getting good at this whole boyfriend thing."

"Practice," he said softly, "and motivation."

"Motivation?"

He leaned closer, whispering, "You." šŸ’‹

Jay blinked, speechless. "Keifer—people are watching."

"Let them." He grinned. "They already know you're mine."

Jay sighed, but couldn't hide her smile anymore.

The bell rang again, dragging everyone back inside. As they walked side by side, their hands brushed once more—then finally intertwined.

And just before they entered the classroom, Jay whispered, almost to herself, "Don't ever let go."

Keifer squeezed her hand gently. "Never." 🌸
