Chapter 337 - Utopia

The legend of General Shandris Feathermoon single-handedly slaughtering the masses in Orgrimmar is a tale well-known to the great champions of Azeroth.

Following the High Priestess's prayer, all the Moon Priestesses began to chant in unison, their voices merging into a sacred harmony that pierced the heavens. The night sky, not yet fully corrupted by Fel energy, seemed to be pulled back by an invisible hand. Countless stars began to shine with unprecedented brilliance, responding to the call of the faithful.

Immediately after, the starlight was drawn down and gathered into innumerable meteors trailing silver flames. Carrying the supreme majesty and purifying power of the Goddess Elune, they crashed down like celestial punishment upon the blinded and chaotic demonic legion!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

This was not the weakened "Starfall" from a game; it was the fury of faith and nature unleashed by the Night Elf Sisterhood of Elune, empowered by the potent buffs of a mysterious powerhouse.

Each impact of a silver meteor triggered a violent explosion. Sacred moonfire flowed like liquid silver, instantly blanketing the entire demonic position. The hardened rock bodies of Infernals crumbled and melted; Felhunters wailed as they turned to ash in the silver flames; the Fel armor of the Felguards shattered like fragile glass as their forms dissolved in the light of purification.

Under Rhodes's enhancement spells, the priestesses' magic was devastating. Rhodes remembered Tyrande using this move during the Battle of Mount Hyjal, and seeing it again now was no less breathtaking.

The first to suffer was Pit Lord Brutallus, who let out a deafening roar of agony. His massive body made him the most conspicuous target, and dozens of starlight energy bolts slammed into him with pinpoint accuracy. The blindness effect left him unable to defend or dodge effectively, forcing him to rely solely on his tyrannical demonic physique to endure the onslaught.

However, the purifying effect of moonfire on Fel energy is catastrophic. His thick hide cracked under the searing heat, and his green Fel blood evaporated as soon as it seeped out. His massive double-bladed polearm grew dull and lifeless under the continuous bombardment.

The giant Pit Lord attempted to muster the last of his Fel energy for a counterattack, but Rhodes's Curse and Misfortune were still in effect. His attempts to condense energy failed repeatedly, even triggering small-scale Fel backlashes.

Rhodes had already prepared his move, intending to use Lightning Bolt to steal the kill at the critical moment. Every Pit Lord was an elite-tier monster, and taking one down would yield significant rewards. He was even curious: If I kill a true god-level entity, what will I get?

"No! Lord Sargeras... I..." Brutallus's unwilling roar was drowned out by the sound of more exploding stars.

Finally, under the relentless bombardment of silver meteors, his mountain-like body collapsed. At the decisive moment, Rhodes threw out a final Lightning Bolt, precisely landing the killing blow.

Amidst a massive flash of thunder, the Pit Lord was reduced to a heap of charred, disintegrating remains. Even the signature self-destruction of a Pit Lord failed to trigger; under the golden lightning infused with Holy Light, he died with a bitter grievance.

As the last meteor struck the earth, the Fel stench in the valley had been washed away, replaced by the rich power of moonlight and the lingering glow of the Holy Light. On the battlefield, except for a few demonic lackeys on the fringes being mopped up by Light Elementals, the Burning Legion's vanguard—including two powerful leaders—had been completely wiped out.

These demons had come to ambush Rhodes, but it was clear that Xavius and the entity behind him had vastly underestimated Rhodes's combat capability.

The valley fell silent, save for the crackling of moonfire quietly burning away the demonic corpses. The battle ended in a total victory for Rhodes's side; the Moon Priestesses hadn't suffered a single casualty while the demonic army was annihilated.

If left alone, these demonic corpses would pollute the environment; the harm caused by Fel energy was immense. Rhodes ordered the Light Elementals to work together to thoroughly purify the Fel energy from the land. When it comes to cleansing Fel, Holy Light is the most effective method, though Life energy and powerful Arcane energy can also do the job.

"Lord Rhodes, please accept the sincerest thanks of the Temple of the Moon. Without you today, we would have been in grave peril. Your strength and wisdom are truly breathtaking," the High Priestess said, nodding in gratitude. If Rhodes hadn't been there, they likely would have been wiped out.

This war looked easy only because Rhodes had summoned the Light Elementals, provided buffs, and personally cast powerful spells. Otherwise, they wouldn't have even been able to deal with that Dreadlord; they would have been picked off one by one.

"Why would these demons appear here? Who was their target?" After cleaning up the Fel influence, a priestess approached Rhodes and asked. Everyone was curious—what had Rhodes done to provoke such terrifying demons?

"Their target was likely me," Rhodes said. "If I'm not mistaken, these are creatures called demons. The Fel power they use comes from a strange realm called the Twisted Nether. Demons cannot be truly killed in the physical universe; to kill them permanently, it must be done in the Twisted Nether or a similar place."

"So it is. Lord Rhodes, they were indeed looking for you. It seems you understand these demons very well," the High Priestess remarked.

"That's right, High Priestess. I know a little. They belong to an organization called the Burning Legion. This group spends its days invading planets in the physical universe, bringing them into the Legion's sphere of influence to become part of the Twisted Nether, and either converting the locals into demons or exterminating them entirely," Rhodes said with a smile. This information was public knowledge in the wider cosmos; the Burning Legion had been active for eons. Honestly, Rhodes sneered at Sargeras's "cleansing" plan—if that method could actually stop the Void's invasion, it would be a miracle.

"Back in Queen Azshara's palace, a mage named Xavius was able to wield this special Fel power in addition to Arcane magic," Rhodes added.

"That is not good news. Is this his personal action, or the Queen's decree?" The High Priestess frowned.

"I'm not sure about that, High Priestess. After all, I've only been in your world for about three months. I only have a basic understanding of Night Elf culture," Rhodes quickly equivocated.

The Burning Legion's invasion was not far off. His job wasn't to stop the crisis, but to ensure it unfolded according to history.

The High Priestess nodded thoughtfully. It seemed Goddess Elune had discovered issues within Azshara's palace, which was why she summoned Rhodes. She now understood completely: Elune's "anger" over Rhodes's "poetry" and the subsequent oracle was not due to pettiness. There was a much deeper reason for the summon.

"High Priestess, I believe we should be on our way," Rhodes suggested.

"You are right," she nodded solemnly. She turned to the priestesses. "Sisters, pack up quickly. we must leave immediately. This place is no longer safe; the failure of these demons might draw even stronger enemies."

If Xavius had summoned these demons, they might face a larger attack soon. They needed to get back to the Temple of the Moon and consult with Lord Cenarius.

The party moved quickly. After a brief rest, they resumed their journey. However, Rhodes's status in the group had changed. He was no longer just a "special guest" named by the Goddess; he had become a powerful ally who earned the genuine respect and trust of all the priestesses. Strength speaks louder than words anywhere.

As they moved, Rhodes checked the rewards for killing the two Legion commanders—his "first pot of gold" on the ancient timeline.

Glorious Victory!

The host has gained a massive amount of experience.

Level Up! (Gained 1 Free Attribute Point).

Rewards: Two adventure map structures: The Library of Enlightenment and a Dragon Utopia.

These two structures were a pleasant surprise. The Library of Enlightenment was perfect for his current level, granting a +2 bonus to all primary stats. The Dragon Utopia was even better; once conquered, it would yield a hoard of treasures and perhaps even dragon corpses. Those corpses could be given to Sandro or Kel'Thuzad back home for processing.
