Chapter 261 - Communion

Holy Light and Arcane are two completely different forms of energy. While they aren't diametrically opposed like Fel and Shadow or the power of Death, merging them is no simple task.

"Theoretically, it is feasible. This is also the best way to prevent the Sunwell from being targeted by evil forces again. Moreover, it benefits us as well," Rhodes said. "A Sunwell fused with the Light will serve as an invaluable reference for the human source of magic we plan to create in the future."

"The great Son of the Holy Light is correct," Finnall said with a face full of adoration. "You have successfully merged the power of the Light with Arcane magic; you can cast both spells and holy abilities. Since you can do it, then the Sunwell of the High Elves—or rather, the Blood Elves—can surely do the same. This is a miracle of the Light."

Seeing her sister's fanatical expression, Jaina rolled her eyes. As the person closest to Rhodes, she knew perfectly well that he merely used the Light; fundamentally, he didn't worship it.

Rhodes could use Druidic life magic, Shadow magic, and even Fel magic. She wondered how her sister would react if she knew the truth.

Better to keep her in the dark, Jaina thought.

Otherwise, her entire belief system might collapse. Honestly, she's such a strong woman in front of everyone else, but the moment she sees Rhodes's Light, she turns into a total fangirl.

The Light really was effective at "hoodwinking" people. No wonder Rhodes showcased it so often, claiming to be the Son of the Holy Light and primarily using holy spells in public.

"If you've made up your mind, Rhodes, I will support you unconditionally," Jaina sighed. Fusing the Light wasn't a bad choice; it was a positive, benevolent energy. Without it, they wouldn't have defeated the Legion or the Scourge.

"Alright, get some rest tonight. We head to the Isle of Quel'Danas tomorrow," Rhodes said.

Both women nodded. Finnall left Rhodes's room, taking Jaina with her. Rhodes was destined to sleep alone tonight—he couldn't afford to waste any physical energy before such a major event.

The next morning, led by a squad of Blood Elf guards, Rhodes, Jaina, and Finnall arrived at the Royal Hall of Silvermoon to meet Kael'thas.

"No time to lose, Rhodes. Let's depart!" Kael'thas said.

"Lead the way, Kael."

"Follow me. We will travel via a portal to the Isle of Quel'Danas. Aside from the Blood Elves, you are the first guests to set foot here." (Of course, he wasn't counting Arthas, who had previously defiled the area to resurrect Kel'Thuzad.)

Accompanied by Kael'thas, they stepped through a targeted portal deep within the Sunfury Spire. Stepping out, a different atmosphere hit them. The air was thick with magical energy, though traces of death energy remained despite the cleanup efforts.

A vast assembly of Blood Elf mages had gathered. Kael'thas had recalled every available High Magister for the reconstruction. Among the rangers present, Rhodes even spotted the famous Lor'themar Theron, though he wasn't yet the Regent. Large numbers of priests were also on standby to assist.

As the Prince arrived, the elves bowed. If the Sunwell was restored today, the prestige of the Sunstrider dynasty would reach unprecedented heights. Kael'thas would finally move past being a "Prince" and appear within the Alliance as a King. He had refused the crown until his people were saved; that moment had finally arrived.

"Everything is ready, Your Highness," Grand Magister Solarion said with a bow.

Kael'thas stepped onto the high platform of the Sunwell, overlooking his subjects, and spread his arms.

"Citizens! My noble kin! We once stood at the peak of the world. Our civilization was as radiant as the sun of Quel'Thalas. We believed our magic and glory were as eternal as our bloodline. We lived in abundance, thinking war would never reach us."

His voice grew heavy. "But the Lich King's iron hoof shattered our illusions! Arthas killed our Ranger-General, killed my father, and slaughtered countless Blood Elves. He defiled our Sacred Well and turned our world into a hell! This scorched earth and these broken walls remind us that the Eternal Sun once went dark!"

The elves remained silent, eyes burning with a mix of hatred and nostalgia.

"Many ask: Can we rise again? Can we find the glory of the Sunstriders? My answer is—YES! Because today, we are not here to mourn the ruins or the past. We are here to reshape the future! We are here to tell the world and the encroaching shadows: Quel'Thalas will never fall!"

He gestured toward Rhodes. "In our darkest hour, a powerful and reliable ally stood forth. At a great price, he obtained the precious waters of the Well of Eternity from the hero of ten thousand years ago, Illidan."

The elves bowed to Rhodes, who quickly returned the gesture.

"Today, we will not only use the ancient waters to let our Sacred Well be reborn, we will infuse it with a new power—the power of the Holy Light!"

This caused a small stir, but Kael'thas's authority was absolute. Many priests and civilians were eager for this; the Light was the perfect weapon against the undead and demons.

"Arcane is our birthright, the foundation of our civilization. But the Light shall be our strongest rampart! From this day forward, our warriors will harness the Arcane flood and call upon the Light's protection!

In the name of the Sunstriders and our fallen kin, I, Kael'thas Sunstrider, swear: We shall reshape the Sunwell! It will be a miracle of Arcane and Light!"

"FOR QUEL'THALAS!"

"FOR THE GLORY OF THE SIN'DOREI!"

"FOR THE PRINCE!"

The mountains echoed with the thunderous response. Kael'thas turned to Rhodes and nodded. "My friend, the time has come. Let us begin!"

Rhodes stepped forward. Kael'thas produced the glowing blue vial of Illidan's stolen waters. Simultaneously, Rhodes opened his system space.

Two Archangels, the Holy Light Phoenix, and over 200 Light Elementals manifested at once. The Phoenix circled overhead, its cries echoing as holy power cascaded down. The Archangels stood as pillars of light on either side of Rhodes. The golden Light Elementals filled the sky, their radiance illuminating the entire island.

With a deep breath, Kael'thas uncapped the vial and poured the pale blue liquid into the Sunwell.

My people are about to be redeemed.
