Homura Mitokado frowned upon hearing Uchiha En's refusal and said, "Uchiha En, don't forget you are a Konoha Ninja. We are speaking to you on behalf of the Village."
"Representing the Village? If I recall correctly, the current Hokage of Konoha is Minato Namikaze, isn't he?"
"Minato is aware that we called you here," Utatane Koharu stated.
"Is that so? Then summon Hokage-sama here! If he is present, I will tell you the abilities of my Mangekyo."
"Snap!" Danzo slammed the table and said, "Uchiha En, are you questioning our word?"
"Yes, I don't believe you."
The four were stunned. They hadn't expected Uchiha En to openly admit that he didn't trust them.
The Third Hokage was silent for a moment before saying, "En, we mean no harm. You don't need to be this wary of us. We—"
"Third Hokage-sama, Hokage-sama's Anbu is outside the door requesting to see Uchiha En." Before Hiruzen Sarutobi could finish speaking, a member of the Sarutobi Clan rushed in and announced.
The Third Hokage sighed upon hearing this, "Alas! Let him in!"
A moment later, Kakashi arrived before everyone. Ignoring Hiruzen Sarutobi and the others, he spoke directly to Uchiha En, "Uchiha En, Hokage-sama requires you to go to Orochimaru's laboratory immediately."
"Orochimaru's laboratory? I understand. Third Hokage-sama, Advisors, I'll take my leave." With that, Uchiha En vanished from the spot.
Seeing this, Kakashi also offered his farewells and left.
"Hiruzen, this is the man you chose! Minato Namikaze is openly challenging us!" Homura Mitokado said with a cold face.
"Minato Namikaze is indeed getting too close to the Uchiha Clan. As Hokage, he shouldn't be acting this way," Utatane Koharu commented.
"Hiruzen, don't forget how Teacher Tobirama viewed the Uchiha Clan. We must guard against this inherently evil clan," Danzo added.
The Third Hokage kept smoking upon hearing their words, his brow furrowing deeper and deeper.
Shifting the focus back to Uchiha En, when he arrived at Orochimaru's laboratory, he found Minato Namikaze already there.
"Hokage-sama."
"En, the child who fused with Shodai(1st)-sama's cells has awakened."
Hearing this, Uchiha En immediately looked at Yamato, who was being cared for by the Hokage's Anbu.
"Hokage-sama, how do you plan to handle this child?" Uchiha En asked.
"Let's first see if he has awakened Wood Release!"
Over the next week, Minato Namikaze brought Yamato home and asked Kushina to help look after him.
A week later, after Yamato's condition had stabilized, Minato Namikaze took Uchiha En and Yamato to the border of the Land of Fire.
Minato Namikaze did not immediately teach Yamato Wood Release Ninjutsu, as it was still uncertain whether Yamato had awakened Wood Release.
Minato Namikaze first gave Yamato a Chakra paper strip, intending to determine Yamato's Chakra nature.
Wood Release is formed by fusing Water Release and Earth Release. If Yamato did not possess Water and Earth natures, the subsequent tests would be unnecessary.
Minato Namikaze then instructed Yamato to channel Chakra into the paper strip. The Chakra paper strip first wrinkled, then became damp, and finally crumbled.
"Water, Earth!" Minato Namikaze's eyes lit up when he saw Yamato's Chakra natures. Possessing Water and Earth natures meant Yamato had the potential to awaken Wood Release.
"Yamato, now imitate my hand seals, and then channel Chakra according to the seals."
Uchiha En glanced at Minato Namikaze's hand seals. The seals he was teaching Yamato were for the simplest Wood Release Ninjutsu: Wood Release: Wood Locking Wall.
As it was Yamato's first time attempting Ninjutsu, his hand seal speed was too slow and his Chakra flow was disjointed, preventing him from releasing the technique.
Yamato tried many times without success. Uchiha En grew impatient, so he simply activated his Sharingan to control Yamato and manipulated him to perform the hand seals.
A surge of Chakra imbued with powerful life force was released from Yamato's body through the hand seals, and three small trees, about the thickness of an adult's arm, sprouted from the ground.
Minato Namikaze smiled when he saw Yamato successfully use Wood Release.
"It seems Yamato has truly mastered Wood Release," Uchiha En said while releasing the Genjutsu on Yamato.
