Nami cleared her throat, shifting her weight on the wooden park bench.
"Hakai…" Nami started, looking down at her hands. "I can call her that, right?"
Koya leaned back against the slats of the bench and shrugged his shoulders casually. "You can."
Nami took a shallow breath.
"Hakai made a deal," Nami explained, her voice dropping to a softer volume. "The deal allowed me to use one of her awakened syringes to awaken myself. And as payment for becoming an Awakened, I had to do something."
She reached down to the hem of her oversized vintage shirt. Her pale fingers gripped the fabric, and she slowly lifted it upward, exposing her bare stomach to the cool park breeze.
