There was a saying for exactly this kind of situation.
Understanding the theory was one thing.
Actually doing it was another.
"I see now." Immo nodded, finally understanding what Hayoon meant.
"Mm." Hayoon nodded as well. "If our tribe tries to figure it out entirely on our own, who knows how long it would take before we successfully build a kiln? Not to mention the manpower and resources that would be consumed during the process. And even then, the kilns we build would only be temporary small kilns. How could they compare to large permanent kilns when it comes to stable pottery firing?"
Minho added, "Besides, weaving and kiln-building are different. I heard the Voz-Karr Tribe guards their kilns extremely strictly. Only a small number of people are allowed inside, which is why the secret has never leaked after all these years."
Beom finally understood. "But our weaving method is different because practically the entire tribe knows it. Some people have relatives living in other tribes, so there is no guarantee they would not secretly pass the weaving method along."
Hayoon nodded. "Exactly. That is why I think trading with the Voz-Karr Tribe is not a loss for us."
Chief Baek smiled and decisively concluded the matter. "Not only is it not a loss, we should make the trade as quickly as possible."
As he looked at the young faces around him, his heart filled with relief and pride.
With so many intelligent and capable young people in the tribe, he could finally feel at ease growing old.
Immo said, "In any case, we have already done everything we can. Now the rest depends on the Voz-Karr Tribe. Especially you, Hayoon. You are even planning to improve the spinning tools now. No matter the outcome, you are already one of the tribe's greatest contributors."
Hayoon immediately became shy again whenever she was praised. She quickly shook her head. "Auntie, please do not say that. I really have not done that much."
Beom immediately objected. "Immo is right! You contributed the most! Hahaha! Those people from the Voz-Karr Tribe always acted so high and mighty before. Who would have thought there would come a day when they had to lower their heads to us instead?"
Immo also laughed. "Come on, let's head back and check how the pottery is turning out. Since everyone is in such a good mood, how about we have a feast tonight?"
Beom responded enthusiastically at once. "Sounds great! Wait for me, I will go bring some ingredients."
"Then I will prepare the bonfire." Minho turned toward Chief Baek. "Chief, are you coming too?"
Baek smiled kindly. "I will pass. You young people go enjoy yourselves."
Hayoon did not get a chance to voice any opinion at all before everyone happily dragged her along on the way back.
As the sun slowly sank westward, she sat atop the giant python's broad body and spotted thick smoke rising from the pottery firing site on the cleared land long before they arrived.
Pottery firing only required a very small area, and since there was no wind at the moment, there was no need to worry about the flames spreading to the grasslands.
Many people heard their approach and immediately waved toward them from afar.
"You are back!"
Looking at everyone's cheerful faces, Hayoon could not help smiling as well.
Forget it. Why think so much?
There was a feast tonight, so tonight should simply be enjoyed.
Everyone had helped her clear the land, and she just happened to be planning to make some rare foods they had never tasted before.
Sulyeon was the first to walk over with a grin. She casually asked Immo, "Mother, why did the chief call all of you over?"
Since the matter had not been finalized yet, Immo could not explain too clearly. She only said, "People from the Voz-Karr Tribe came to discuss exchanging for cloth with us."
Sulyeon nodded in understanding and tactfully did not ask further.
Instead, she sighed emotionally and said,
"Recently, a lot of people in the tribe have been weaving cloth whenever they have free time. Cloth really is an amazing thing that never has trouble being traded away. Even our family has accumulated quite a lot of supplies already."
Most of the people coming to exchange for cloth were from other tribes, though there were also single beastmen like Sulwoo and Minho.
If someone wanted to trade with families skilled at weaving, they even had to line up and wait their turn.
Even Sulyeon's own family had been scheduled more than ten days later, let alone families like Yeonhwa's who were not only skilled at weaving but also talented at making clothes.
Immo nodded and instinctively turned toward Hayoon, clearly wanting to say that it was all thanks to her.
The moment Hayoon noticed her expression, she immediately guessed what she wanted to say.
Unable to handle more praise, she hurriedly changed the subject. "We discussed it earlier. Let's have a feast tonight right here on the open field."
Young people naturally loved lively gatherings, so the moment Hayoon proposed the feast, everyone responded enthusiastically.
"Sounds great! There is still plenty of firewood left from firing pottery. I will build a few fire pits."
"I will head back to the cave to grab food and bring our pottery cauldrons too!"
"I will fetch water!"
...
Everyone volunteered eagerly and quickly became busy.
Hayoon craned her neck around and soon spotted the two cows grazing near Minho's cave.
Minho asked, "You are going to feed the cows?"
After living together for some time, Hayoon had already grown used to the tacit understanding between them.
"Yes." She smiled. "I also want to see if I can milk them."
Minho thought briefly before replying, "I will go with you. All the weeds from clearing the land were piled over there earlier. You would not be able to carry them all by yourself in one trip."
Hayoon happily agreed. "Sure."
The moment the two of them mentioned it, Sulyeon and the other cubs immediately rushed over to join the fun.
