Chapter 429: Civil War II!
"Don't worry, Tony. I'm a sorcerer," Silas said with a confident smile. The Mirror Dimension was incredibly sturdy. Unless one possessed the Space Stone or specific space-related supernatural abilities, escaping was virtually impossible. It was just like the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj; without a Sling Ring in hand, even they would be trapped in the Mirror Dimension to await their end.
"A sorcerer?" Tony shrugged. If that was the case, he'd take back his concern. He understood science, but magic was a total mystery to him. Initially, Tony hadn't believed in such things, but with the arrival of Thor and the Infinity Stones, he had come to accept the existence of magic. He had originally thought Silas used some high-tech cloaking device; now it turned out to be magic.
"Where did that Carol go?" Natasha walked over to Silas, scrutinizing him. Silas was simply too young. For the longest time, she had assumed Silas was a middle-aged man, even though Tony had always called him the "Masked Boy."
"I trapped her in the Mirror Dimension. Oh, right—I transferred that explosion in there as well," Silas explained.
"Doesn't that mean she's...?" Rhodey, sitting on the ground, made a throat-slitting gesture.
"Don't worry, she's fine. Perfectly intact," Silas said. He had initially worried Captain Marvel wouldn't be able to handle it, but he had clearly underestimated her. Carol had a bug-level ability to absorb various forms of energy; it would be strange if she were killed by a blast.
"That woman is terrifying," Tony's mouth twitched. After seeing the data JARVIS had collected, he finally understood just how formidable Carol really was.
Clint chimed in, "Tell me about it. Who knew Fury had such a heavy hitter hidden away?"
"Do you have the confidence to beat her, Silas?" Peter jumped over to his brother's side. Since Silas's identity was already exposed, he didn't bother with code names.
"What do you think?" Silas leaned against a wall, looking at Peter playfully. How could you even ask that? Even if he couldn't win, he certainly wouldn't admit it.
"Uh... you definitely can." Peter quickly covered his mouth and stopped talking.
"It looks like none of us can truly defeat her," Thor said, walking over after having mostly recovered.
"But Silas said he can trap her. Isn't that a victory in a roundabout way?" Natasha pointed out. Indeed, if Carol was trapped in the Mirror Dimension with no way out, Silas had technically won.
"We can't keep her in there forever," Tony said, exasperated. She was one of Nick Fury's people, after all. She wasn't an alien invader; they couldn't just jail her for life.
"I'm going to head into the Mirror Dimension in a moment to see if I can reason with her," Silas said. In reality, he wanted to have a proper rematch. Their earlier clash had been an accident that didn't allow either of them to show their true strength.
"Just be careful. That LED Girl is as irritable as a woman with a hormonal imbalance," Tony grumbled.
Thor felt a bit awkward. He had come to save the day, only to be knocked out by Carol in the blink of an eye. It made him wonder how she would far against Hela.
"Be careful. Do you want us to go in and help?" Steve was still uneasy and wanted another crack at Carol.
"No thanks, Captain. Wait until you have a chance to pick up your little hammer, then we'll see if you can go 'five-five' with her." Silas turned around, and a shimmering, fractured transparent wall appeared. He stepped into the Mirror Dimension.
"Truly amazing," Tony muttered. He removed his gauntlet and reached out to touch the air, but the mirrored wall had already vanished.
Mirror Dimension
"You finally came back." Carol glared at Silas with the eyes of a woman who had been stood up. After Silas hadn't responded for a while, she had tried the most foolish thing possible—trying to punch her way out. The result was predictable: she failed.
"..." Silas swallowed hard at her intense gaze. What is this vibe?
"Hurry up and get me out of here," Carol said, her expression returning to normal.
"Before I do that, shouldn't we have a proper fight?" Silas cracked his neck.
"Are you sure?" Carol looked him up and down. This guy really knew how to pick his moments—specifically when she had just released all the energy she'd absorbed.
"Absolutely..." Without waiting for her consent, Silas unleashed his telekinesis. Thousands of invisible tendrils lashed out like tentacles toward her.
Carol felt her wrists seized by an unseen force. Just as she moved to break free, her body suddenly felt incredibly heavy.
BOOM!!!
Carol was slammed into the ground by Silas's gravity manipulation. Her legs felt as if they were filled with lead, rendering her immobile.
"What exactly is your power?" Carol was genuinely curious. She had thought it was magic, but now it seemed like a superpower.
"Don't worry about that." Silas's body turned into a streak of white light. In an instant, he appeared before her and raised his fist.
BANG!!!
Carol didn't even flinch. she took Silas's hundred-ton punch directly to the face. Her head was driven into the concrete, but her face was enveloped in radiant streamers of light, protecting her from any real damage.
"Strong power. HAH!" Carol erupted with energy. The telekinetic "tentacles" were shredded like thin paper. The crushing gravity became negligible under her own force, failing to hinder her further.
The first thing she did upon breaking free was swing a glowing fist straight at Silas. She moved so fast she was nothing but a blur of light. Silas wasn't foolish enough to take her punch head-on; he didn't have her freakish physical durability.
Under the power of the Rabbit Talisman and his dynamic vision, he tracked the trajectory of her fist. He tilted his body slightly, evading the lightning-fast strike. As he dodged, he countered with an uppercut toward her chin.
Carol wouldn't be caught by the same trick twice. Using her years of combat experience, she anticipated his move. She jerked her head to the right and then let the light within her explode outward, turning herself into a living bomb.
"Not good!" Silas hadn't expected her to be so reckless as to detonate her own internal energy.
Flash!
Both were thrown back by the blast. Carol watched Silas with newfound respect; she hadn't expected him to be able to dodge that. At the critical moment, Silas had used the repulsive force of Almighty Push to knock himself away from her self-detonation. Having learned from the runaway energy earlier, both subconsciously avoided using beam-type skills.
The moment Silas stabilized himself, he raised his right hand and clenched it into a fist. Just as Carol was wondering what he was doing, an earth-shattering roar came from behind her. She spun around to see a colossal hand made of the very earth itself—large enough to blot out the sky—coming down toward her.
The giant hand felt like the hand of a god; a powerful sense of oppression welled up within her, as if it could snuff out her life at any moment. Even with everything she'd seen in the cosmos, Carol was momentarily shaken. She immediately turned to fly toward Silas to escape the range.
However, she soon realized that the more she flew toward him, the further away he seemed to get. The giant hand was already upon her.
BOOM!!!
"So, Thor, who was this 'mysterious person' you mentioned?" Steve asked. Who could possibly know the situation on Earth from so far away?
"I'm not sure. He was completely covered. All I know is that he called himself the Mysterious Man," Thor replied.
"It sounds like something happened in Asgard," Tony noted.
"Yes. Ragnarok. Hela, the Goddess of Death—my sister—destroyed Asgard with her own hands." Thor clenched his fists at the memory. He blamed himself for being too weak. Even after awakening his lightning, he couldn't save his home and had to rely on a stranger's help to survive.
"What do you plan to do now?" Natasha asked.
"I plan to lead the Asgardian people to settle on Earth," Thor said truthfully. There weren't many Asgardians left; they wouldn't take up too many of Earth's resources.
The others exchanged glances. Thor might think settling on Earth was simple, but the reality was far more complex. It was fine for Thor alone, but a whole group of Asgardians was a different story. "If they are not of our kin, their hearts must be different"—every nation understood that principle.
