Trix, with his soft brown fur and boundless curiosity, had settled on my lap, as I gently stroked his back in a soothing rhythm. Xavier's arm was wrapped around me, loosely yet protectively, while he held a hefty book on economic theory in his free hand, glancing at it occasionally, though his focus was mostly on the way my body molded against his, his reading glasses perched on his nose making him look fifty times hotter.
It was truly a miracle I hadn't gotten burned yet.
