Chapter 68 - Arc 1: Chapter 68, Practicing

Eric was inwardly happy after getting the Holy Battlefield Domain Card.

He was, however, in no hurry to put it into action.

He had been in the church of Serenity for four hours by now.

The forging alone had taken almost three hours.

He had already chosen a mission to complete after getting out of the Church, and found out about the second type of Domain Cards as his weekly perk.

Even though this secret wasn't as valuable as the rank 0 relic, Imperator's Cross, it was still very valuable to Eric.

Eric already had thoughts of leaving, but looking at the door of the training chamber, an itchy feeling spread on his hands.

"It would really be a huge pity if I left before trying it at least once." Eric thought before moving towards the training chamber.

Father Irenaeus stayed silent. He had played the main part in this forging; he was a little tired. He simply walked up to one of the seats and sat down as a book appeared on his lap, which he started to read silently.

Eric felt the dense natural aura around him as he entered the training chamber.

He looked around for a few seconds, but in that dark room, there was no one.

"..."

Eric had indeed entered the room, but what now? This was his first time after all.

He was just about to ask when a golden light started to flicker in the middle of the training chamber as an adult Angel Spirit appeared.

This adult Angel's spirit had golden skin and a tall body. He had four arms; his chest, abdomen, and shoulders were thick and huge, but his arms and legs, in contrast, were too thin.

He wore a tattered golden robe with a few pieces of armor.

He had three golden eyes and a few eyes that often came out of his wings and looked around before retreating into the wings.

He had the air of a warrior around him. He was currently looking down at Eric with a cold look on his face.

"Warrior Angels." Eric immediately identified the Angel Spirit's type that was in front of him.

Warrior Angel Spirits were the most physically strongest types of Angel Spirits. They usually have a dominating demeanor and prideful personalities, unlike most of the other Angel Spirits.

They were also the type to be the most proficient in fighting. It was no wonder that Eric was given a Warrior Angel to fight.

This warrior angel stared at Eric for a few seconds with a stoic face before his gaze shifted to the Imperator's cross.

His expression softened after he gazed at it.

After this, he slowly bowed to Eric as he came down.

"I greet Co-leader with utmost respect."

Eric also returned the bow and asked, "What is your name?"

"My name is Sariel."

"Are you the only one who fights here?"

"No, Lord, I am not the only one assigned here. There are many of us here for every rank and pathway. It is up to you to choose which one you want to fight with."

"And how do I do that?"

"You must have gotten the knowledge of all the details in the charms that you have gotten."

Eric's brows furrowed at this.

"Strange, why didn't I feel it then?"

"The reason was that this chamber restricts the feeling of addition of any info in charms or relics; this was something that was personally added by the Knowledge Pathway's great expert back in the day, who helped to make this chamber."

"So, this is it," Eric said as he closed his eyes and checked the contents of the chamber inside his mind, and there indeed was the addition of the details of the training chamber.

Father Irenaeus hadn't informed him of this, but he didn't blame him. There were many small details about everything that, no matter how much one mentions, would never end.

Eric found out that Sariel was a Lysi Nova-level Angel Spirit and had Light Pathway abilities.

Sariel was a 400-year-old Angel Spirit and was most proficient in charging.

Eric stayed still in his spot as he looked at the other options.

There were all types of fields that this chamber could turn into, and there were several Angel Spirits to fight at every rank; there were even five options for the Supernova Rank.

Every Angel Spirit could help to train in one aspect. Sariel was a good sparring partner and average in everything except speed. It was no wonder he was sent first.

Eric let the surroundings be as they are as he slowly opened his eyes and looked at Sariel.

Seeing Eric's gaze, Sariel said with an impatient tone.

Even though Eric was the Co-Leader of Serenity's Codex and had the Imperator's Cross, Sariel was still a warrior angel with a prideful nature.

"Lord, shall we start?" Sariel asked.

Eric had a slight smile on his face as he slowly opened his eyes and nodded.

The door behind Eric disappeared as the chamber lit up with a huge number of golden and white flames.

Both Eric and Sariel were teleported a thousand steps away.

Eric activated his Abyssal eyes the next second; his eyes started to glow pink due to the infusion of his Gravitation Aura, and four black arrows pointing downwards, two on each side, appeared on his eyes.

Sariel immediately turned into a golden light and pounced towards Eric in a straight line, but when he was just a few hundred steps away, a pink transparent bubble appeared in front of him.

Seeing this bubble, Sariel felt a deep sense of danger.

This was his innate instinct as an Angel Spirit. It was unlike the premonition felt by the Walkers.

"Bad—"

BOOM!!

This pink bubble was very small and thin, but the moment Sariel looked at it, his expression darkened as he tried to dodge, but his momentum was too great.

This bubble was greatly concealed; its aura couldn't be felt till it showed itself.

Eric smiled, seeing that Sariel fell into the trap he had set up before.

Rank 4 Energy Pathway Aura Technique- Concealed detonation.

This was one of the techniques that he set up before starting any battle.

The reason he didn't use it against the assassin girl was that he had long lost the initiative.

But here, he had all the time and opportunity to set up this trap.

This was also why he had taken so much time to read the info on this chamber, Sariel, and all the other Angel Spirits.

His taking too much time had also made Sariel angry, making him charge straight through to make Eric suffer, but he fell right into Eric's trap.

This technique was made by Eric when he had just advanced to Lysi Nova rank, condensing Gravity around him into a small point before using the uniqueness of his Pathway to talk to the energies around him and have them hide this bomb. If someone can look past these energies, they would easily be able to find them out.

This was a very ingenious technique as it mimics the effects of concealment pathway, one of the unofficial pathways.

It also consumes five percent of Eric's Gravitation Aura and needs some time to be set beforehand. Eric had used the talk before to get this time.

These were the weaknesses of this technique.

Unfortunately for Sariel, he couldn't see past the concealments of the energies around him.

The second this bubble appeared, it detonated as a huge invisible force acted on him, making him fly far away and almost hit the walls.

He spat out a mouthful of golden blood before stabilizing himself.

He looked at Eric as a huge smile appeared on his face. Sariel had always loved fighting; this was one of his traits as him being a warrior angel.

Two pairs of golden-white angelic wings appeared on his back as he disappeared from his position faster than a flash.

Fast! Fast! Fast!

He was as fast as light, making people unable to even see him before they got blown away.

Eric was an Aura user of the Energy Pathway. The Energy Pathway was the most offensive and had the most destructive individual power.

It was average in speed, and except for it, any other aspects were barely passable.

Eric had gotten the initiative and had hit Sariel, but if he let Sariel travel around freely, he would be the one losing.

He can't lose the tempo of the battle.

Eric took out his Gravitation Aura and started to manipulate the gravity around to make a region around him where gravity was much stronger, so that Sariel wouldn't get close.

This was a technique that would constantly consume Eric's aura while activated.

Its rate of consumption was very high, taking 1% for every two seconds of activation, but fortunately for Eric, he didn't have anyone else to protect, so he only made a thin but dense region around him.

Sariel approached Eric before he could completely set up his defenses, but it was already enough. Sariel lifted his four arms and punched Eric hard in the head, neck, chest, and abdomen, but at the next moment, he felt a strong repulsive force as Sariel was blown back again.

BAM!

Sariel hit the ground several times before finally stopping.

Rank 4 Energy Pathway Defensive Technique-Infinite Repulsion.

Using this technique, Eric manipulated a large amount of gravity around him to create a dense and thin covering of Gravity around him. This gravity constantly lets out a repulsive force, making everything around Eric repel.

He had used this technique once before when he was ambushed. He had walked up to the assassin girl with no fear and filled her up with bullets. Due to the uniqueness of the Inversion Pathway, one bullet was reflected to him, but got reflected to her when it was just inches away from him. That was the effect of this technique of his.

Splat...

Eric spat out a mouthful of blood. He may have started to put up his defenses beforehand, but he was still not able to match the immense speed of Sariel.

His defenses were still weak, and he had suffered some injuries.

But Eric was not dejected. He still had a lot of techniques left to show. At the same time, his fighting spirit was aroused as he slowly looked up at Sariel, a small smile appearing on his face.

Sariel also understood his smile as he smiled back at Eric.

Eric took out his meditation Aura and teleported in front of Sariel and threw a punch at his face. But Sariel was a warrior angel after all, he immediately dodged and tried to uppercut Eric, but Eric was willing to take the uppercut and grabbed his neck, kicking his left thigh repeatedly and making him kneel.

Eric kicked his face as Sariel half-knelt after getting the bones in his legs broken by Eric.

Sariel was kicked away by Eric, but not before throwing a punch, coated by dazzling white light, at Eric's chest, breaking several of his ribs.

Both of them flew back tens of steps before finally stopping.

They were both injured.

Eric took out his meditation aura as he started to use it to heal. Sariel took out a few bottles of Holy water, which he soon started to drink and pour on his body after mixing it with some golden light that came out of his body.

After getting completely healed, they both looked at each other again.

Eric took out his Gravitation aura and coated both of his arms with it.

His Gravitation Aura started to turn solid like crystal, beautiful, with sharp edges.

Sariel also coated all four of his arms with a mix of white and gold light.

They both walked slowly to each other at first before Eric used his Gravitation Aura to lower the effect of gravity on his body, helping him float. Sariel also spread his wings and flew up.

Eric was the first one to attack and used his aura to make a repulsion force behind him, making him shoot like a star.

Rank 4 Energy pathway movement technique-Repulsion charge.

This was one of the most used techniques of Eric and was mostly used for movement and charging.

Every time he uses it, Eric would use his aura to form a repulsion force behind him through gravity, making his speed shoot up. He can also use it to take others near him, but he mostly avoids this unless Eric is sure that he can take them in close combat.

The aura it consumed every time was quite low and varied in strength due to the repulsion force.

After all, Eric was simply using his Aura to create a repulsion force on him; there were no complex steps behind it.

Sariel also turned into a golden light and shot towards Eric.

They were like two lights. Eric was getting pressured at first, but after some time, he found a weakness in Sariel's defense.

Sariel also realized this, but it was too late. Eric took out a small amount of gravitation aura around his fingers, but it was actually 20% of his Aura, condensed into this small drop.

This small drop rolled down to Eric's left hand's index finger as he snapped, making this drop turn into a pink flame before turning into a pink spark, disappearing.

Rank 4 Energy Pathway Aura technique- Gravity Press.

This was one of Eric's most offensive techniques. It was very powerful, thus the cost was also high.

This move had two variations: it can be an area of effect or a single target. Right now, Eric had used the latter.

Sariel immediately felt a huge amount of pressure on top of his body.

Heavy!

It was as if he were holding down a mountain on his shoulders; he could definitely hold a mountain on his own, but this pressure was too concentrated on his body.

Guh.

Sariel got pinned on the ground before spitting out a mouthful of golden blood out of his mouth.

Eric quickly flew to him, but Sariel pointed at Eric with his right hand's index finger. Several golden needles appeared and shot at Eric. Eric destroyed them all by using his Aura-coated arms.

Sariel knew that this moment was a critical one. His body immediately let out a dazzling white light that was able to blind everyone.

It would have worked on most people, but unfortunately for him. Even if Eric closed his eyes, he could still see his soul through his Abyssal eyes.

Eric saw him still pinned down as he used his gravitation Aura again to charge with an even greater speed.

Eric used his gravitation aura to put more force behind his punch as his fist hit Sariel's head with all his might, causing huge ripples to appear on the dark surface of the training chamber.

Sariel's vision instantly turned blurry and dizzy. The world shook

He was breathing heavily now. But soon, he started to laugh loudly.

"Hahaha. Lord Eric, all my suspicions are gone. You may seem like a quiet person, but inside, you are someone who likes fighting, just like me. You are also very strategic and opportunistic. person."

"I have a lot of pride and arrogance, but I have to admit my defeat."

Eric also laughed with him after this. He reached down to Sariel as he helped him get up.

"You are a strong one; there is no shame in losing. None of us used our true strength or trump cards. Otherwise, it would have been a different case."

"You are too humble. Lord Eric."
