"It's already been two weeks and I'm still waiting for that surprise you promised me," Emily grumbles.
Oh, now I remember what that déjà vu was about...
"I know. You don't have to remind me every single day."
"Yes, I do, and I'm going to keep doing it until the day I finally get it..."
Then she shoots me an angry glare.
"...That whole reward thing wasn't just a lie to squeeze information about John Hayes out of me, was it? Because I'd be pretty damn pissed if it was..."
"Of course not. Don't be ridiculous. I'm just waiting for winter break to start."
Truth is, I never really intended to reward her in the first place.
It really was just something I blurted out in the moment to get her to spill everything.
Fuck, I didn't think she'd actually hold me to it this much...
Looks like I really am going to have to come up with something if I want to avoid incurring her terrible wrath.
