Matt stood at the door of the meeting house, staring into the darkness where Yvonne had disappeared. The forest was silent, watchful, as if it too was waiting for her to return.
She didn't.
"Matt." Maren's voice was soft and intentionally cautious. "We really do not have the time for this."
He turned to look at her. Her face was lined with exhaustion, but her eyes were sharp and urgent.
"Harry is planning something," she continued. "Something big I heard. The full moon is tomorrow night. If we don't stop him—"
"I know." Matt's voice was flat. "I know what he's planning."
"Do you? Because I don't think you understand the urgency. Harry has been gathering power for years. He has artifacts, allies, a pack that follows him without question. He believes that if he can get Harkma blood and pureblood blood, he can create something—something that will make him unstoppable."
Matt's jaw tightened. "I understand. You've gone on about it a million times over. So yes... Yes I know"
